Well, as most of you know, my Giant Iguana bike, the bike I've been riding for 7 years, has bit the dust. The seat post fused with the frame cause I never took it out or anything. So my dad tried to get it out, first with a pipe wrench(which just tweaked the frame and the real rim) and then a hammer(which broke the part that the seat mounts on), and then tried an air hammer with a chisle bit, and that just got my dad a bad cut on his finger and wasted time. So I finally was able to convince him that this is just insane to fix this bike, and he gave up.

So today we went to bike places, didn't see anything really good, and then went to Granada Cyclery, where we know the owner. This Raleigh M1000(I think) caught my eye when I was there with my bro about a week before, and it was still there, full suspension, it's nice. $469. So we check out the other bikes, and they don't have any in stock that I really wanted to see(that were expensive but cool). So I ask to ride this Raleigh, and it's awsome! suspension isn't soft but very good, and rock shox on the front. Light too, I was flying in the parking lot on it. But it had those crappy Grip Shifters, and also the "v" style brakes(like my Iguana, and I don't really like them). So we get to talking, and the guy says that he will put the Rapid Fire shifters on it(like my Iguana) and "L" brakes(which stop incredibly fast, not like the Disc brakes but Disc brakes are expensive as hell), and a quick release seat and a rear kickstand(it doesn't have a stand now).

So I'm like "Awsome" and my dad askes how much it would be, and the guys like "$410 with all the upgrades, my price to you". So we are buying it. The upgrades should be done on Wednesday and we will pick it up.

It's like 2 years old but never ridden(old stock), and still has all of the warrenties and stuff. The Rock Shox are like the bottom of the line(but adjustable softness), I'll check out the warrenties on them, and if/when they expire, I'm gonna get probably these Rock Shox I saw that have adjustable ride hight and softness with a switch at the bottom, but I think that they are expensive.

Just thought I would tell you, it's awsome and I'll get a pic of it when I get it here.

You tard, the 3 isn't my car, it's my dads, and we don't mod our cars. And It's gone 107 before easy.

Robin will you shut it? This is about my new bike not about the 14 year old 323 that runs like new. You've never driven one you have no room to talk. And it's my dad's, not mine, so lay off.

Sheesh.

so it still has the tires it had in 1988? sheesh. ;)

congrats on the new bike.

LOL punk, actually the current tires on the 3 are like 8 years old and will be replaced soon. Meaning when I get my license I'll burn rubber(no not neutral drops, my dad just put a new trans in it and it will be hard to explain that it just went out) before the new tires.

Robin in the parking lot I was going atleast 20 just sitting down, and when I stood up and pedaled I did about 30. So I'm guessing down a hill I could go well over 40, maybe 50 even. I have to put my speedo on it cause it doesn't have one, but it's cool. It's a 21 speed, that's all I need. Most bikes have 24 speeds now, but I rarely and probably never used all 21 gears on my Iguana.

Can't wait till get it here all upgraded.

i can go in 24/29 mph in my bike so easy in the street.(any)

my friend buy it for 900 $us$ later he trade it to my other friend for a ring, (a gold ring) and 2 years later he sell it to me for 125 or 175 ( i forgot it) but is like new.
a few weeks ago i was in bike store and ask to the owner "how much cost me a bike better tham what i have" he say 800 or 1000 wich mark you want.
since that time i care more my bike, btw i have long time without use it,but sometimes when i got mad or have to much stress i take my bike and be hours riding for long distances.

that is my way to a litle healty ,and free of stress

Yea. When I get pissed, I get on my bike, leave a nice mark on the driveway, and I'm away. Once got so pissed(and bored) I rode to a lake about 8 mi 1 way from my house, a round trip of over 20 mi(cause you can't take the same way back, and it's long) as it was getting dark. Got home, got asked where I went and I said something like "What's it matter, I'm here now safe and sound" and my mom said "Where did you go Ryan" and I said "Creve Couer Park, it's a fun ride alone" and got yelled at more.

But it was fun.

What is with you Robin?

Yes I get drunk I go ride a bicycle. No wait, I have some drunk guy piss on me that's how I get pissed.

Pissed as in pissed off as in angry.

:)

pissed in australia means drunk. we rarely saw we are pissed off, its usually called phucked off.

get drunk and ride a bike, i guarentee youll get some time off school.

 :thatsodd: :D :(  :p ;) 😈

Well, after searching for Raleigh M1000, I had my dad look at the recept and it's a M7000, an older one with the better design(the new ones have the design where if you have the seat post low it hits the suspension and defeats the suspension, and also they are heavy and no waterbottle holder mounts at all).

It's cool anyway.

Nice drawing Code!

Got it home last night! It's optioned out with Rapid-fire shifters, "L" brakes(you can go on dry pavement and lock the front tire they are powerful), wireless speedometer, actual Raleigh seat(some skinny seat was on it, so the owner of the place(that gave us the discount cause he knows us)goes over to this bin that has seats just piled in it, and I walk over, and the first seat I pick up is a Raleigh seat so that's what I got), rear kick-stand, some other stuff, and for sentimental value, I took the bottle holder off the Iguana and it's on the Raleigh.

I got the wrong owner's manuel for it(they gave me the '97 which was before they had full suspension(mine is a '98 M-7000)so adjusting the shock was experimental and I got it just about as soft as it goes(still doesn't depress under my wieght alone but over bumps it's great)...

Anyhoo here it is:

damnit the pic didn't go!

Front suspension(Rock Shox, but there's no model name on them...they are pretty good though, adjustable on both sides, and the right side is damper and the left is softness):
