ok im trying (stress trying) to do the FR race in beginner league, but my RX7 infini get sput against things like sylines and crossfires! is this normal, as it means the best i can get is 4th :( and what car do you suggest i use for the race?

An RX-7 should be able to outrun those cars. Try giving it a bit more power, and suspension. Lightening it would also help a lot, both by going through at minimum stage 1 lightening, and lightening driveline components like the driveshaft and flywheel, along with a stronger clutch. These will all help acceleration and shift times, as well as braking. Racing brakes are also a really really good upgrade for the money, as for less than 5k you can pass most people by braking late into the corners.

There are no soft cars in GT4.. All the cars are hard. It's because they're made of stuff like iron, steel and such...

Make sure you've bought drivetrain upgrades such as racing transmission, triple plate clutch and racing flywheel. Also sports brakes and brake balance controllers are very useful. Sometimes it's easy to just purchase the horsepower-increasing upgrades and forget some of the other upgrades. ;)

Other than that I suggest you could keep exiting a race and re-entering until you get a easy line up of cars to beat.

Imfao , All Cars are Hard in this game, you can put it any way you want it but they are HARD to beat when drivin hard and made of hard metal or w/e it is made of
:dunce:

**NOTE *** THE FIAT 500RL IS NOT HARD TO BEAT ANYWAYS **NOTE**

:sly:

Note also, they may be hard to beat when tuned

Use the Nismo 270R you won from the License Centre.Yes it is FR, supe up the hp a bit and lighten it.You'll blast them 👍

Cheers,

BTW: The Nissan OPTION Stream Z rocks!

I drove a stock used RX-7 RS-R (third gen/FD) I found for 18kilocredits in the used lot. It was good for anywhere from +0.2xx" to +6.xxx" victories and around 75-80 A-spec points.

We are at a bit of a disadvantage here in trying to answer your question. Truth be told, there are probably easy a 100+ suggestions of specific cars (including the one you have been using) that could be brought up here that would work for this venue. However, we don't know what you can afford, whether you want to afford them, how you drive, whether you are running a manual or automatic transmission and a plethora of other variables to boot.

When I am faced with this situation and it seems like I am bringing a knife to a gunfight (or vice-versa), I first spend a little time deciding whether or not it is me as a driver or the car. Here what I do and maybe it will help:

I spend a little time looking around the new and used car lots at the cars I am up against in the race. Get a general idea of what their power to weight ratios are and compare them to the car I am wanting to use. (I do that by dividing the weight of the car by the hp.)

If the number of their cars is higher than the number I come up with for my car, then usually I should be competitive and likely able to win the race if I drive correctly.

If the number of theirs compared to mine is close to the same, then I better be able to drive fairly well or modify my car to increase my chances.

If their number is lower than mine, then I also have to equalize by modifying my car or count on sheer driving brilliance to win (and maybe a cheat or two).

With that information, you should be able to choose a car that will at least get you on the same race pace as them... The rest is up to you knowing the tracks, modifying and handling the car. Sometimes that may take a little time to get there as well. I know I have certainly struggled at various races as well.

Following this has helped me to pick my own poison based on what I like to drive.

But how are you supposed to know thier Power to Weight ratio if you don't have THIER cars?

As I said:

You need to hit the "purchase" button to get the spec sheets for weight etc. (little information though they give) then "cancel" back out.

Admittedly, you need to know the cars in the race (as in this case he does). Then, of course, there are those time to time "miracle" cars the AI drives in some races that just do phenomenal things and run ahead. Those you have to deal with individually as it comes up.

Of course the problem is that the AI most likely "cheats" by using power multipliers, like they did in GT3. Case in point: The Elise Manufacturer races. There is no way to take a stock Elise or Turbo Elise to that series and win. Even with massive power upgrades to your car, this race comes in at 200 A-Spec points.

The best bet is to enter with what you think you'll win with. If you get your arse handed to you, exit the race, get some more mods, then try again. Don't worry about something as nebulous as a "win ratio" for now...

Yup... And it is likely the one and only time you will see that happen. Mark it down someone! 👍

do what ive always done, get the fasest car you can afford, enter the race and see if its easy to win (ignor the a-spec points as they dong give a clear indication of the dificulty of the race) then if you loose, gage what needs to be done to the car to win the race by how far you lost. simplely then upgrade the machine and play with the settings till you get it done.

Sprite
(ignor the a-spec points as they dong give a clear indication of the dificulty of the race)

This is due to the fact that i entered a tsukuba race with a tuned up speed 12 (not a good idea) and it said it was a 1pt race and i lost by 2 laps :( so i then entered with a 350z i won untuned and it said it was a 180pt race and i whooped his as*.

Are you talking about the wet Tsukuba races sprite? A big, heavy, powerful FR car like the 12 is impossible to control on Tsukuba wet. I won easily with a HPA golf or a Tommy Kaira ZZII.

Unless you are a real purist just use some get rich quick schemes and get a crazy fast FR car. Lets see how well those skylines and crossfires do against a M3 GTR Race Car.

It's not the opposition that annoys me, it's the way they drive.
I was doing a single race around the 'Ring with the R1 Titan S2000. Every.Single.Car that I passed either forced me onto the grass or nudged me from behind. The worst case is where you try down the inside and they take the corner like you are invisible. It's such a shame that my car isn't invinsible like theirs.

I hear you! :tup:And it is amazing how quickly they just all of a sudden move over there as if it is the most natural thing to do. It doesn't just happen on corners going for the same apex either. It happens everywhere.

And people wonder why the b-spec driver starts out his career butt-bumping the opposition... then develops into drafting instead of trying to pass right away. I think it is because it is programmed to stay on the track and the normal AI is programmed to block somehow. As humans we aren't afraid to take a grassy spot or two don't ya know.:)

No kidding. Seriously, it's like they do it on purpose. I found myself spinning out after getting bumped and having to restart many races because of this. You know what else? When you spin out and they all ram you one after another so you can't recover until they have all passed! :ouch:

I hated when it did that on the Ford GT laguna seca mission, I was finally beside the Viper GTS-R oreca and tried to pass it at the outside at the final corner, and the asshole pushed me right onto the grass which made me slide out all the way finishing 4 seconds behind him.... I was ranting and cursing after that, switched my PS2 off and went to sleep. Really annoying that AI at times, especially when you try to drive a clean lap and they ram you with full force.

Chinko, i had the same problem you did. my first car was an RX-7 (though it was an FD not an Infini) and i had problems with winning, even though it was moderately modified, drivetrain, exhaust, nothin too fancy. After frustration had set in, i left those races alone, 'till i got the 350Z LM race car. then i came back and pimp-slapped all those punks. ah, revenge is sweet. SO: get a better car!
