Can't you just perform an oil change and rebuild to get them back to their original glory?

you have to break in the enigne after rebuild 500~ km

With new cars, you don't have to perform the engine overhaul, bodywork restore or the oil change. So essentially a 0-mile car is performing at its absolute best.

same car:
0 miles + oil change
?? miles + rebuild

which will have more power?

0 miles can only be obtained through a ticket, they cannot be obtained at the used car lot making them more rare for virtual collectors.

from a collectors standpoint its better

but for performance and hp out of the bat, i think a car with miles will be better

i try to drive all my cars, change oil or rebuild so i can break them in and use them in online racing

Yes, they can be obtained via UCD. Got this way mine black Veyron for 2m dead.

I've seen a black Bugatti Veyron at my UCL that was 0 miles. It cost 2 000 000 cr.

That is absolutely false. You can change the oil on new cars too and get a bit more HP.

Also, when a new car gets broken in, and engine overhauled, it can get like 40 more HP that a new untouched car.

The 0 mile thing is like collecting figures or comics, if you do not touch them they are more valuable, that's a collectors issue on everything, even virtual stuff. :scared:

There's another reason - it's a quick way to know it's not modified so if you are entering a race with special conditions you will be able to use it for sure.

Becous then you know its YOUR car from birth :)

Some people are geeks and need to get a life/girlfriend, there NOT REAL CARS so who cares if they have a few miles on them? What do these people want to do with the cars anyway? Just sit staring at them all day or actually drive them? I understand why people would want an unmodified car as some things like engine tunes are non reversible but "virtual" miles! Just change oil and good as new.

And some people need to lay off the insults that are entirely unwarranted.

Some people just feel the need to automatically assume that gamers have no girlfriends/wives/families/jobs. Envy.

Anyway, it's just knowing that I don't have to rebuild/restore anything and waste more money than I need to. That's why I request premium cars be 0 miles and UCD cars be restored/rebuilt. Saves me time and credits to use on other things (upgrades, other cars).

Not everyone plays the game you do. Having an open mind is a good thing.

From my point of view, a zero-mile car is "safer", so to speak. What I mean is, you know for a fact that it hasn't been run hard, thrashed, crashed, and mashed. It's pristine - no worries that you'll have to shell out up to a million credits to put the car back to right.

Err, you realise there are no saved car stats for running hard, thrashing, crashing, or mashing?

Are you serious? All these things dont exist in gt5, just your head.

Oh, I realize that. I also realize that when I bought an FGT on the UCD, I got to shell out a million credits to rebuild the engine and chassis.

Not quite "all" in my head. Some of it actually does exist in the game. ;)

Personally, I don't care how many miles the car has. It's not a real car; they aren't real miles. My "main" X2010 has over 45,000 miles now. It's been crashed countless times. It still beats every other car in the game, even with a Level 0 Bob behind the wheel.

The point I was making was that for some, zero-mile cars are more desirable because they KNOW they haven't been crashed or had the power run down, necessitating costly "repairs". While those repairs aren't "real", they ARE in the game.

Oh, by the way - there ARE saved stats for running hard. Ever noticed your power decreasing over time? I've got an X2010 that's down to less than 1230hp right now. So there actually ARE stats in the game related to that. Thanks for playing. ;)

That has nothing to do with your driving style, crashes, etc.

Ok thanks guys. For the collector it makes sense (if collecting in the first place is your thing). For the driver it is more of a guarantee that you won't have to dish out the credits to repair it. I just figured credits are easy to obtain so if you want a car, having it with miles would be better than not having it at all.

That seems to be the feeling. Me, I go ahead and do the rebuild/refresh thing on any used car I pick up. Seems like I'm always getting a message these days that says "You cannot have more than 20,000,000 credits", so it's just one more way to spend 'em...

In the game, and in real life, I don't care about how many miles my cars have. I care more about how they were taken care of for those miles. My main daily driver IRL is sitting at a bit over 175k miles at the moment. Its engine has over 250k miles, during which it's seen redline every single day. :) I'm not exactly known for babying my cars!

0 miles on a car isn't something that bothers me but 80% of all traders seem to prefer their cars to have 0 miles, and i've even heard people asking for 0 changes!!

Here's how it goes:

A car with no miles on it has a certain HP, then over distance it will lose power until it has run 200 miles, a rebuild will then give it more power that stock because it is run in.

Eg. Nascar starts with about 850ish BHP, then it will rise a little but once 200 miles are clocked up it will drop to its lowest of about 840ish BHP i'm pretty sure. After a rebuild it will reach its full power potential of 892BHP.

So a car with 200+ miles on it will have more power and more speed than a 0 miles car.
