Silly point I know but it bugs me...anyone else notics how sparsely packed the stands are at every circuit. I know the lower PP races this would prob be the case but for the higher classes inc GT classes....why are the stands so empty? Ive been to Spa on race day (F1 and GT races) and the stands are packs. Ok minor point as GT5 is a racing game....but it would be awesome to see varyng stand sizes depending on PP...or am I just being a tad demanding :)

I think changing the amount of spectators for different events is the last thing on my mind. If you're watching spectators, then you aren't concentrating on the racing.

I think that gt5 uses ps3's powers to the limit, so more spectators is simply impossible

I can't see that being a problem, We all know how badly modelled PD made the spectators, On a PS1 they might have been cutting edge but now in 2011 really come on.

+1
They could just be moving blobs for all I care. Main thing I want in GT5 is adjustable tire pressures.

lol. Usually Im doing a Vettle outfront online....gets a bit boring :P

I believe too there are more important things to tackle then the number of people in the stands.

However: e.g. the Renault days do not have that much PP, but since they give free tickets, foresee animation, etc... Francorchamps can be quite packed during these events.

I kind of like sparsely populated events because most of my runs are practices anyway. I couldn't imagine all of those people paying to see my crappy race lines. I'd only want full attendance for championships.

C'mon guys don't take it so seriously as to complain about the thread. It's funny.

Also is it me or do spectators no longer run out onto the track during rally events? Didn't they do that in earlier GTs?

Your typical race in GT5 (online or off) is around ten minutes. Why would there be that many people in the stands? The race would be over before they even got their hotdogs and beer!

People can at least try to give a legitimate answer, and this question has occasionally came across my head. Come on, in A-Spec, we can sleep and still win the races.

Anyway, TC, they probably left out Spa's people is perhaps they can't get Spa to run flawlessly with those types of graphics if they included crowds with motion.

But still, having a completely empty track makes me think it was either PD forgot, or they couldn't program it to work properly.

ll they needed to do was to make several planes(flat polygons) and go to photoshop, copy and paste various people on a blank backgrounds, save it, and make an alpha (making the audience a white silhouette with the background black), then slap those 2 on the planes. The silhouette will blend with the photoshoped picture and anything within the black background will be completely transparent. Align planes on the stands, and TADA! Instand cardboard cut out spectators. Since they are far up in the sands, you wont really notice.

Instead of spectators we could have pigs...I think the sheeps feel to alone :(
My journey of finding pigs in GT5 will never end! (and it will never begin too)

Not that it bothers me that much, but i remember in forza and shift when you pass by the stands you can hear the noise spectators make. It really adds a little bit to racing atmosphere.

If GT5 was on the PC, you could have your packed out races. Sadly, GT5 is on the PS3, an outdated piece of hardware with not enough memory trying to push out modern graphics.

Thats why not many people show up to the GT5 races.

the perpetual naysayers have struck again!

"oh NOOOO I want my racing experience to be STERILE! Fans going crazy for racing drivers has no place in a racing game!"

I guess we should just be happy with our Real Time-Trial-With-Traffic Simulator. Why put forth the effort to improve anything? Why add immersion and fun factor? Stupid things, really.......

this is why the next DLC track should be packed with people, especially if it is a rally stage.

is there any thread about the spectators that are in the game? which are the most recognizable ones, or being used in a lot of tracks, etc

I do remember that, i gess is for safety issues they don´t do it anymore.

Yet they offer the Group B rally cars that caused the safety issues to begin with

I get what you're saying, though. It could potentially make kids feel like it's okay to run out in front of a dirt-spitting box of metal, rubber and death to get a nice little snapshot to show the fam. Not the best example to set.

When you're flying by at 150 miles per hour those badly modeled 2D gifs spectators don't really matter to me. :p

True, but I really don't care about them, I mean, sure it kinda sucks for those of us that use photomode alot, but thats easily cured by the blur effect, anyways, making the spectators look they way they do (2D) may have left enough space for that one extra track or couple extra cars. Who knows?
