For those who don't know when you direct your browser to www.forzaplanet.net you are directed to the GTPlanet.net homepage, which is full of nothing but GT5 and GT:Mobile news and only a couple old posts about anything remotely Forza related. Why is that?

We also don't even have a dedicated Forza Motorsport 3 sub-forum, only a Forza Motorsports 2 one. We also don't even have a sub-forum on the main forum page dedicated to the game. Is there any reason why that is too?

My intention isn't to "call anyone out" but more so get answers to have a better understanding of why it is this way and why we are www.forzaplanet.net.

Jordan bought the rights (or however it works) to that domain name. Probably so he's got something to sell in the future, probably to get more traffic, and probably just to get the Forza guys all riled up.

If Jordan gets anxious he might one day go ahead and make a Forza site. I wouldn't support a large Forza section here, but if Jordan would ever insist on making one then I at least wouldn't ever go there. As far as I'm concerned the only reason we have Forza threads at all is because a few of our fellow GT fans were given a 360 and Forza as a gift. Surely they wouldn't have bought it with their own money. ;)

To me, that's just sickening. :odd:

I'm sure once there is enough interest and topics for Forza3 to merit it's own forum, one will be created. It's the demand of the topics that drive the forum's organization.

Hasn't a demand already been created by securing the URL www.forzaplanet.net? By default we are claiming to be a Forza fansite, when clearly we aren't. I know how much members like to throw around "misleading" accusations, so I wonder if any will speak on behalf of this?

And honestly I think there is more than enough interest to merit a Forza 3 sub-forum, or at least change the Forza 2 one to Forza 3.

@Joey D,

I don't think so. It's thinking ahead, before the need is there. How long did it take Jordan to secure gtplanet.com? I would say he's learning from prior mistakes and is making an effort to have the name secured while it's still open. I could be wrong, but you would have to ask him. Sounds fair enough to me.

Edited: I will also add that GTPlanet.net does have a Xbox360 forum and even has a Forza 2 sub-forum. There is also some Forza 3 info if you can wade through the recent banter that's in the current Forza 3 thread.

If he never has intentions of doing anything Forza related, and it's pretty clear he doesn't judging by the lack of anything remotely close to Forza news then why bother? I am curious to hear his answer though, because from the outside all it looks like is flame baiting to me.

I do understand that creating a Forza section would bring out all the idiotic GT fanboys that populate sections of this site and there would be the potential for flame wars. But surely the mod staff can do that? I mean that's what they are hear for right?

I'm fully aware of that, but it's not really front page now is it? If I was a Forza player who stumbled across forzaplanet.net for whatever reason I think I might be a bit confused.

Read my edit in the post above. We do have Forza info on this site and GTPlanet is clearly not limited to the GT Series, but has a good presence in Motorsports as well as Gaming in general. In light of the recent news released about the GT series and the current demand for this information, I'm sure Jordan has his hands full. I will also note that it's every member's responsibility to try and provide quality posts as well. Feel free to provide some quality information in the XBox forum here at GTPlanet. Good info is always welcome.

I really don't think this is it, that would just be horrible PR if somebody did something just to make others mad.

Who knows maybe it is tied in with GTPX?

I did read you edit and responded to it. I am fully aware that there is an Xbox 360 forum as well as a Forza 2 sub-forum. There is one thread to my knowledge on the subject of Forza 3, if you ignore the fanboy-o-rific ones in the GT5 forums which compare two games that haven't been released yet.

My main point in all of this is that if we are www.forzaplanet.net in addition to www.gtplanet.net then there should be more of a presence here then just a thread and a sub-forum for a game that is almost outdated. The front news page should offer more than just a couple posts regarding Forza's introduction since there has been quite a bit of official news.

I'd also not have a problem posting new information if there was a place to do it, the Forza 3 thread pretty much turned into a "shut up Dan Greenwalt you are lying thread" instead of actually trying to get more information about the game.

Well, maybe this site can introduce some Forza only racers to some other racing games that other enthusiasts also enjoy. I know I came to GTPlanet looking for GT Info and found this site to provide much more information that is non-GT related for which I am grateful.

You may be reading too far into the name, Joey. First of all, "we" aren't forzaplanet.net - that domain name simply directs here, and I don't feel any obligation to cover the series on the news blog. I registered the name in 2007 because I would love to start such a website, but these 24 hour days make it difficult enough to keep up with GTPlanet. I don't intend to mislead or annoy anyone by directing visitors here (which I do with all of my unused names), but last I checked, there has never been more than 1 or 2 people typing it in, anyway.

Looking at the bigger picture, it makes sense for this community to expand beyond the GT series, and I appreciate your feedback on the issue. I'd also be interested to hear what the rest of you would think about more Forza coverage.

I'd love to see more Forza coverage here, personally. I came here way back in the day because of GT3 but now as I don't own a ps3, I don't frequent the gaming sections as much as I used to.

Basically, this is the only forum I come to, I've been coming here for years, and I'd rather not join somewhere new just for my Forza fix, it'd be great just to discuss it all here.

I would love some more Forza related stuff as I enjoy both games. So far this is the best forum devoted to video games.

That's kind of like the kids back in high school who would trash the bathrooms because "That's what the janitors are here for, right?"

Fair enough, although I do think Forza 3 could stand to have it's own forum like GTAIV and Forza 2 has. There is plenty of information to warrant different threads, car list, track list, wish lists, DLC speculation, etc. Pretty much any topic in the GT5 forums could be more or less done for Forza 3, although I would hope only news worthy things would go in there.

Not really, it's more along the lines of "there are security guards posted in case things go south." I doubt it would be that hard to police one forum section with the amount of mods we have here, plus forum members police themselves. If someone is breaking the rules there is always the report button. Plus it would probably weed out some members we don't really want here anyway.

Not to mention this whole forum is much more mature than most other forums.

In many respects yes, but in some respects not so much. We are still on the internet and discussing video games and cars, therefore subject to idiocy. I sort of got a wake up call with the announcement of GT5 and the sheer mass of new members that came in and how many of them I wished would just go away.

I'm sure the same thing would happen if you opened the Forza flood gates but it always seems to work itself out because either the idiotic members get banned or fed up with the rules and just leave.

I'd love to see more Forza coverage, but I had noticed (and appreciated) the noted stuff on the front page before. A dedicated sub-section would be great, but to have it as in-depth as the current GT sections would be unnecessary so far. There are some dedicated Forza fans on here, some that are happy to act like grown-ups when discussing the merits of the franchise in the light of GT and the like. But as Joey pointed out, there is an overflow of idiocy that invades that section, and having an entire section would likely make it worse.

I'd personally keep it up as a "wait and see" deal, based on how the reactions to Forza 3 are. Undoubtedly, if GTPlanet is one of the largest (or the largest?) forum for GT, the forums managed by Microsoft at forzamotorsport.net continues to be an excellent source for news, discussion, and other handy tips for the game. It would take a lot of work, with a lot of new users, to drive that kind of success.

I do wonder what the chances would be of setting up a real "forzaplanet.net" website to go along with GTP, and then sort of link them so it sort of is the same community yet a different one. So like all the members here would then become members there and could go back and forth and so on. It would keep the Forza traffic separate from here but still create a similar community over there.

How's about a better name? forzaplanet.net is too copycat. Maybe FMWorld.net instead.

Err...

Jordan already owns the forzaplanet.net domain. That's. The point. Of this. Thread.

Or maybe you could use your GTP account on FMP or vise versa.

I think that having forzaplanet setup as its own website with a similar layout to GTP would be a great idea. You could even have both of them share the same community (so members can instantly log on to the other sites forum). Like what Philly just touched on.

Basically it would look the same as GTP with different colours a new logo.

As for the forum, things like the Rumble Strip and other general areas could be dynamically shared (clicking takes you all to the same GTP area) whereas forza specific sections would be exclusive to the forzaplanet site.

This way GTPlanet keeps its dominance whilst attracting a whole new crowd.

The only problem would be, as Jordan touched on, is that it could be quite a lot of work to get setup plus it would need extra server power.

I really think with Forza starting to create a legacy and with the name forzaplanet.net already in the bag it would be a great opportunity to put it to better use.

Robin.

And the dumb XBOX fanboys, not the smart ones, will come over here and spamming our site with their "XBOX RULES!!! PS3 SUX *****!!!!!!!!" comments and trying to start PS3 vs XBOX and GT5 vs FM3 flame wars, and mods will be banning on a daily basis. That's what will happen if we try to advertise GTP on a forza forum. Bad idea

We already get the inverse of that now to a pretty fair degree, seriously if I hadn't been part of this site for so long and knew that it wasn't true, I would easily think this whole forum is full of dumb PS3 and GT fanboys who think the 360 and Forza suck without any solid reason.

Look at the Forza thread's and see how many people have tried to start flame wars based on ludicrous ideas, even long term members, which is a shame.
