Last night I had the long standing problem of being consistently disconnected from the online servers (and before you ask I do have high-speed boardband).

After returning to a room for the 3rd time I typed "Sorry keep getting disconnected" in the chat box but all that came up was a load of stars, as it does when people swear.

Then, thinking there was some mistake I tried typing "got disconnected again" into the box and it displayed stars once again.

Finally I simply typed "disconnected" and had the same result.

So my question is why do PD now consider disconnected a bad word? Do they think that by censuring its users they are in some way hiding the problems inherent with their system? Or are they just in denial that their online system is rubbish?

PD's choice of words to censor is quite strange, also if i remember correctly "engine" is also on the list of censored words.

So explain the censorship behind "Pescarolo" or "LSD" someone please?

I know that LSD is also a drug too...

Disconnected to be fair could be used in a sexual context...

But since Akira pointed out the real reason, I see it now.

Reminds me, it banned me calling my race the FireCracker 200, said the name was inappropriate

Also 'Pista' (Italian synonymous for track) is banned...
It's a nosense system ... because if you add a space among the letters you can say whatever you want

Try typing to someone that you have Engine Damage. Engine is censored.... Damage is censored. Finally I typed "motor no go."

Seems like vowels are banned, along with any word containing car references, more than 3 letters, or less than 48 letters, and anything in italian or french. Good job sony, right on top of things...lol.

Sony's money making plan:

1. Censor every word on the chat box but let people curse and swear on mics all they want.
2. People get fed up with chat and just go and buy mics.
3. ???
4. PROFIT!

Try this one... someone asked me what I am studying so I replied:

"I am studying Aerospace Engineering"
and I got stars??

In bold.

The number of things that must have gone through the mind of the person who asked. LOL, probably thought you were taking porn acting lessons or sheep abuse, something dirty or perverted anyway.

I recently (coincidentally) found out it isn't limited to words only either but some numbers can't be used as well.
For example, the numbers 206 and 207 (if I remember correctly that is) can't be used for whatever reason.
Stupid 206-ing system which makes communicating too 207-ing difficult......

Yes, i noticed this when trying to tell someone something about the peugeot 206 RC

I thought engine was censored because engine means something in French.

Google Translate says no :irked: Though I will be proven horribly wrong

Engine, to be honest, could be used in a sexual context as well...

Rofl, so can cucumbers, bannanas, and melons. Guess I can't discuss my shopping list online later.:guilty:

If it helps, in one of Philippines' dialect, "pisti" means ****.

Ohh disregard this, I thought you meant pisti. My mistake.

Because all those dirty dirty words would corrupt our fragile little minds :nervous:
Or more likely avoid the lawsuits from morally outraged parents.. who use the ps3 as a nanny..

I think whats missing here is common sence .. Don't let your children interact with total (anonymous) strangers online or bad things can happen.

''I have some problems with my ***** (engine)''

''What''

''Nevermind, just have to adjust my ***** (LSD) in somebody's ***** (Pescoralo)''

Also, this isn't just Sony doing that, i tested it on gran-turismo.com at my own account to type something and it got censored.

Pescoralo *****e (engine) with *** (LSD) is great! Sadly there isn't race modi****tions (modifications) on all cars...
