Why do some people have a 'zoom' option on the top right?

Not sure, I also have that option, but what I do not have is the total time for the event in online games when I finish the map. It is abit bizarre.

Seems like everyone can see the total race time on the scoreboard except me :(

Ahha.. Of course.. That would make sense.. They are probably recording these videos using a DVD-Recorder, so you would have to change the output of the PS3 to 'SCART' this would give you an SD signal.

I have an SDTV, and I can see the total race times. I think it is for those (poor unfortunates) who have an SDTV, but it is orientated in the 4:3 'thingywhatyoumecallit'! I have SDTV, and its of the 16:9 variety, so I can see everything, but I still get the R1 zoom option.
 
^ Just like me on the GT5:P Demo. 32" 16:9 SDTV and I got the zoom option plus a notorious crop (left and right sides) on the cockpit view, almost making it impossible to see what was going on on the side mirror.
 
ah im a nub, I figured it, my PS3 was outputting on 4:3 while my TV was displaying 16:9.

Needless to say, when I changed the PS3 to 16:9 it became much clearer lol and I can now see the times, my wing mirror and my rear view mirror
