Why do they overtake me?

Today in daily races we drive a Subaru.
How come my opponents overtake me on the straights?
I do a Fairley good corner and I can see that I pull away from the car behind me, but maybe in the third or forth gear he accelerates faster than me an overtakes me?
This happens to me all the time and I have thought it was about my car, but now we drive all the same car.
I drive with manual gearbox.

I mean I am about 2-300meters ahead of my opponent and he is overtaking me even though I have better acceleration at the beginning of the straight.
(sorry for my English. :)
 
If he's directly behind you and then pulls out at the last minute. But if your behind another car you should experience the same drafting.

Did you check replays for the difference in straight line speed. 200 - 300 meters is a lot of tarmac to catch up :odd:.

Some cars are also faster, at 45 seconds you can see the other car pull out, hit the wind and fall behind..

Surely the event is BOP'd?

Also, do you have TCS high? Or the braking and steering assists on? These will slow you down.
 
One thing to note is gear shift points. I realised on the F150 races AGES ago that people were going faster than me side by side and realised that I was shifting a little bit sooner than they were. Holding off for another 3mph on the shift from 2nd to 3rd made a huge difference.

Actually someone else on here suggested the other way... some cars need shifting earlier as they run out of puff. The Atenza diesel was one and the other was the Supra.

Edit: @snowgt beat me to it...
 
Oh my god, this will be a disaster. Oblivious people would run stock setups against upgraded and lighter cars. I will never comprehend PD's train of thought (BoP on supplied cars back then, but now they allow upgrades of garage cars without even notifications? The hell, how would I know that?)

I merely illustrated that gear shift points are important. I appreciate it goes both ways. The F150 goes right in to the red before optimal shift points, others will be a bit lower than the flishy flashy rev counter.

I know... when I said 'actually' I didn't mean it correctively as in 'actually, you are wrong because...' I meant it as in 'actually now you mention it...'
