Because GT5 is lacks enough off-track features. This adds options which should have been integral to the game from the beginning.

I'm just waiting for the novelty of 10,000bhp cars with stupid chassis swaps to wear off, so the rest of us can enjoy the realistic hybrids.

Or at least, I don't see the appeal for this kind of racing, framed in the context of Gran Turismo.

To be fair to me, you should really quote what I wrote when I posted that photo, to put it in its correct context.

I will remind you anyway:

"All very silly, but good for a laugh, if you're in the mood for them and have already done everything in the game. I do still play the game properly, but occasionally a bit of insanity is too hard to resist."
 
Sure some of the high hp cars get annoying but I got a Jaguar E Type with a ZO6 engine that has 717 hp. Its a fun car to drift around and cruise in.

Again, I don't fault anyone who enjoys LUDICROUS SPEED!!! or flying cars, or whatnot. It just seems odd to me to tweak vehicles in GT for those purposes, when there's other games that address this kind of thing better.

Just my opinion.
