I don't know if this has been posted before or not (if so feel free to delete mods) but why do you WRS, is it simply because its fun to do on occasion or if you have free time? Or is it something more like enjoying the competition or perhaps want to learn good driving lines to autocross in real life?

I for one do it 60% to earn respect from my fellow drivers, I won't ever be a Hugo or Hollo1, but I still want to be regarded as 'not the slowest'. The remaining 40% is from it being fun and love learning how to get faster by being smooth and feeling myself push my personal limit.

What about you, why do you WRS?

I race because I like the game and this kind of playing gives a new size to it, the game does not end if I keep racing with other addicts and it's always good to share driving experience and learn from each other to improve our skills. Close competition is always welcome too :)

I originally did it to see how fast I really was because I could never find any good competition from any of my friends (except SirTakis who just joined!).

Now I just do it for fun... I only ever really try for a silver in my division, I don't have the time or often the motivation to go for gold, I find it gets frustrating after you hit your normal limit and it all starts going to pot... But not being the slowest is nice :)

It's less expensive then a date :p and you can leave when your done, or bored.

Na, I like the compitition and also trying to improve. The company's not 1/2 bad either ;)

I've always loved car racing. :guilty:

People
Oh did I mention it's fun and there are some good people around here who are willing to help the slow, mamed and otherwise infirmed. :)

Because racing against people (albeit over the internet) is so much more fulfilling than racing a computer. And I just really enjoy trying to get as much out of a combo and find that 'perfect lap.'

1) I play GT since its first edition. I love this game, and this gives the opportunity to race with other people, also because none of my non-virtual friends like GT.

2) I always wondered how good i am playing GT and now i have the answer: I s:censored:ck. But this is a good opportunity to improve performance (tho i have not that much time to play).

3) I've found a pleasant community here, to share opinions, learn skills, etc.

4) I love knowing people all around the world and thinking that someday I could meet them in person. (If some of you will choose for an holyday in Puglia region, Italy, whistle me, i'll be your mentor! :) )

5) I am not so rich (not yet) to effort a sports car and I have not good race tracks around here. Better go virtual.

6) This gives me a chance to practice my english (together with the Letterman Show...), since i have not so many opportunities to speak it.

To earn a little respect and mainly enjoy competition and seeing where I'm at compared to others.

I race because I like sharing the experience with people trying to do the same thing I am: putting down a perfect lap. And although I don't ever get one, it's amazing to witness WRS drivers grow into speed the same way drivers in the "Carbon-Burner" series' do. Is this life imitating art, or this art imitating life?
Race ON!!!

It's the closest I can get to racing.
Same here. As i'm not that competative as a person I enjoy the reality of my personal goals each week as compared to others t times. Those times help in that goal obviosly so I think the interaction with others on a common goal is another reason to race in the WRS. These are the best sim racers from all over the world so what better way to improve my personal goals, as I try my hardest every week All in all I do it for the fun.

I just started playing GT about 3 years ago, with a used copy of GT3 and my DS2. I've always enjoyed cars and racing, and found the simulator to be an amazing outlet for the need for speed. :)

I bought GT4 as soon as it came out and invested in a DFP right when I bought the game. I was looking for the most realistic racing experience possible.

I found the GTPlanet Site while searching the internet to see which cars I could win by completing the endurance races (Looking for the F1 Car and hadn't braved the ring yet).

I figured I wasn't the fastest guy out there, but wanted to see how I could match up against you guys.

I've become addicted, and participate almost weekly while dedicating the majority of my GT4 wheel time to this series because -

1. After completing 100% of the game, there was not much left to do (I've since corrupted my game save, so I am rebuilding that at the same time as I WRS)

2. It is helping me to become a faster, smoother and more complete driver. During the 6 months I've been running on here - I see lines better, run smoother, do not overtune cars against the computer in GT mode, and have switched from auto shift to manual.

3. Competition and the desire to improve my times not just within my division, but as compared to the best drivers out there.

4. Probably most of all - Because this really is a fun and passionate group of people. Very competitive, but willing to help people to improve on individual combos and overall as drivers.

Hope that wasn't too long. :dopey:

I like the opportunity to test my skills against others, and to improve my overall driving abilities. I don't set goals for myself very well, and running against all of you enhances my enjoyment in a way that racing the AI cannot. Since starting last February my skills and focus have improved, and I've become better at many of the tracks and been introduced to many cars, some that I did not even know were in the game, and I'm 96% complete.

A bow and thumbs up to the WRS admin/behind the scenes folk that make all this happen, thanks!

I am very much looking forward to whatever the WRS may become as GT5 Prologue/GT5becomes more widely available. It's nice to have a stable of 'clean' racers to be familiar with and run against. Can't wait to get on the track and see how things pan out in real time.

I WRS because I was looking for a way to improve my skills and get some competitive times. Apparently I'm nowhere near as good as I thought. Only 1 thing to do, get better!
