Why does everyone say "It's worth it"?

Yes, very frustrating. The first update took me days and many, many attempts, but eventually it downloaded. You would think that PD and Sony could somehow find a way around it all. Anyway, after that update I haven't had a problem since. And yes, it's worth it.
 
I’m sick to death of threads like this. Why can't people just be patient?
 
gee, i don't know. maybe some of us have jobs and family and school to worry about. I apologize that i don't have days to wait around pressing x when a download fails for no reason.
 
Not sure how that has anything to do with the development of GT5… but whatever.
 
i remember i spent almost a week to update the game. i never complain, as i am living in china, where gt5 or ps3 is not officially available. i took it by myself all the way from s'pore. you know, most of the game fans here don't buy commercial version, they, include me, live on cracked version. but only for this great game, we went for a console that has not been cracked for far and pay for it. it worth the money

Yeah that update process can be very frustrating, it took 10 hours straight for me updating the Japanese copy ... It only downloaded in 2MB steps, real slow!
They should ship the game with one of those Homer Simpson birds doing all the work for you ( don't know the name of it ) ;)
I hope you'll find a way to update, i think its really worth it 👍

Sorry to hear you are having trouble installing the update, it is sure to finish sooner or later, as others said when it fails click on the news icon to continue it.

It is frustrating, if you can hold out until it works for you then the game is very much worth it. If you simply don't have time and/or patience then trade it and hope that GT5 comes sooner rather than later.
 
i had the jpn version of GT5P and it wouldnt update to spec 2. i just wouldnt. so i bought thr UK version it upodated v quickly and ta-da its working 100% fine!
 
GT5 Prologue=money well spent

GTA IV Special edition=waste of almost $100
 
I've had 0 problems doing any updates on GT5P. It could possibly be a router/port issue if it constantly is happening.

Honestly, this game is NOT worth the time and frustration I put into it. This is the only game I ever bought that I HAVEN'T be able to play EVEN ONCE since owning. Two days of trying to download an update, and nothing.

Isn't it amazing how MS can get updates to MILLIONS of Windows users, RS can get updates to MILLIONS of GTA4 users, EA can get updates to everyone playing their games, and yet PD can't distribute a single update to a game that far fewer people are playing? But it's worth it, right...

I feel sorry for the person who is going to buy this game from me on eBay.

But I am willing to bet that within 15 minutes of owning Burnout Paradise, I will be playing online. Oh, and I'll be playing a game with damage modeling.

And yes, I know that the mods are going to delete or lock this post, but whatever...

Maybe your connection sucks? I guess everyone says it's worth it because it is. You are posting something negative about GT on a GT fan site....please someone correct me if I'm wrong but this thread seems sort of preposterous?

It is worth it, Game is at PROLOGUE stage, so its KNOWN that issues will be at hand. You have no patience my friend so I don't know why you even bothered with SIM racing in first place

Well, call me impatient, but I expect to be able to install all updates of any game within a few hours after purchase. It's completely unacceptable, even for a 'demo' like GT5P, to not be able to update.

Then again, I don't have a game for another region than where I live (which the topicstarter has). And I have my rig (network, router, ports, etc.) setup properly. Especially the latter is essential for getting GT5P (and any game for that matter) online and/or updating and I suspect it being a network/router problem than a problem with the actual software.

And, yes, it's worth it. ;)
 
What do you think? Would you rather download a update from the other side of the world or go grab a version for your region?

You got to think logically as there servers are located about to the other side of the world that the OP is downloading from and PD sure can put up some new servers in but what is the worth in that?
 
Thanks for all the replies and suggestions, but in the end, I didn't feel gt5p was worth it. It got sold on ebay. On the plus side, I used to money to purchase Burnout, and I couldn't be happier.

Not to knock PD, if TT2 comes out, I will but the Japanese versions on its release date. I won't even care about online play or updates. But I'm a motorcycle guy at heart, so if I'm going to be driving cars, I'd better be having fun (which I wasn't).

Just imagine if gt5 full version has motorcycles... Maybe this is why it's taking so long to come out?!?

You must be a patient person and yes it is worth it now with another UK Price drop down to £14.99 new.
