Hey dudes, i have been wondering this for a while but i simply cant find an answear. Everytime i create an online lobby/server it recommends race quality very low. I simply cant see why its doing this because my internet connection is all fine. Im running with 13mbit so it should be more than enough to atleast run better than "Very low race quality".

Any thoughts?

And am i able to create in higher quality and will there be any ups and downs by doing that?

Thank you in advance.

I think its recommending it based on your connection :)

But not everyone's internet is that speed. I would think it needs to cater for the slowest common denominator and, as it's a public room, if someone with a slow 'net connection should join then it would cause issues for everyone.

That's all just made up but it makes sense to me...

Just around 1.3mBit. But it really dosent make any sense cause one of my friends who has a lower internet connection is being recommended creating with high.. :/

But if that had to make any sense then everybody should be recommended creating with very low race quality which isent the case :/

Hell yea.. Sorted things pretty much out. Found out that i had "Fixed room ownership" turned on. By switching that off it automaticly said "Recommended High" :)

Is there noticable differences between the different qualities?
I always thought the recommended quality was based on your connection as host.

There is more to the quality of your connection than the advertised upload or download speed. You might be able to download or upload a lot of info at once, but that is not relevant to online gaming.

Your connection is mostly judged by its latency (the time it takes to talk to other players) and its jitter (the stability of the latency).

A high quality room requires that your PS3 is able to talk to all the other players within a very short period of time, and it requires that those communications happen consistently.

What will affect your latency the most are other users in your house running filesharing apps, and maybe your phone or using skype. Filesharing apps open a lot of connections, which will "clog" your conenction. Things like VOIP phones and skype usually get higher priority, so that will bump GT5 down.

You can always ring your ISP and maybe they will be able to tweak something for you.

Playing on a higher connection quality for races confirms your connection is capable of dealing with lots of information and moves of other players simultaneously, which may often cause errors and crash.

Voice quality on high should cause issues too. If your recommendation says very low. Lower the voice quality for faster downloads and uploads so you can have higher race quality issue free. If you prefer free run only room, use both on very high because it really doesn't matter if you have broadband. Dial-up is another story:confused:

Mic quality on very low sounds great, so there's no reason to go higher.

I play with people all over the world on game quality high, usually without any problems.

I would imagine you would want to use Very high when you play with people all of the same very fast network, high for most broadband, low for the worst broadband, and very low if you just don't care what's going on in GT5 or your network.

Honestly I remember reading about fixed-host racing as requiring a VERY good connection for high-quality as the way it handles connections is different (I think the way specifically that other players connect to you). Non fixed-host should allow you to run the room more easily. If you disconnect, also, someone else will host and the others can play on.

I run medium quality almost always, just to minimalize all the possible connectivity issues.
