Why does my avatar looks like this?

Sorry if this was posted somewhere else (or even in the wrong thread) but i was desperate So like the title says,why does my avatar looks like this? (see my current avatar) Why does it have those white lines on the side of my avatar?It kinda irritates me.I don't know how you guys make yours look good and i feel almost left out So could you guys give me some tips on how you manage to get your avatar to look good or what technique did you use.Any replies would be good and greatly appreciated.

I can see the white line in your avatar and I'm guessing it's something to do with your transparency. What program did you use to make your avatar?

Yeah,thanks for the advice.....I only used Photoshop and IrfanView.
