Why get the car you needed after the cup?

For example, I needed a VW Lupo for a cup race.
I spent forever waiting for one to come up in the used car dealer.
When it finally did, I bought it and proceeded to win the race.
My reward for winning? A VW Lupo! :dunce:
Why would I want another one?
I have had this happen numerous times, in different cars/cups.
They should give you are car you need for a future race.

It is kind of backwards logic.
I just finished the Lupo race in a Lupo Cup 1.3 and it was a blast! I assumed that since I was racing IN a Lupo Cup and racing AGAINST all Lupo Cup cars, I'd get another Cup car, perhaps a Beetle Cup or GTI Cup. Instead, I get a Lupo 1.4 and a standard one at that.

I think I'd done an event and won a Lupo Cup Car (it was a racing one anyway) and thrashed all the others in the Lupo Event.

I won a Lupo way before I got to that event, can't remember where.

I think it's in the hatchback race where you win the Lupo.

The point of the game other than racing is to make it challenging and interesting. If cars were just given to you when you needed them some of challenge wouldnt be there. You dont have to do the races in order. I'm at the extreme series and I still havent completed the Lupo race because I couldnt find one. I found out today I can win one on the hatchback race which I know I already raced but maybe i didnt gold it so I will try again when I get home.

Yeah that Lupo prize is so badly thought out..

I won a Lupo GTi and used it in the Lupo cup only to win a crappier version of a car i never wanted in the first place.

What car would you like to win for completing the VW Lupo event? Think about it...

What, should they award you with a Chevy for completing the VOLKSWAGEN event? That would make no sense... the cars won from events are related to that event. Seems logical to me.

Would it make sense any other way? If you do the Lupo race, would you expect to get a Corvette or Ferrari as the prize? No, it makes more sense to get a Lupo, in my opinion anyways.

And MeechShrykull, please stop spamming the thread with your dislike of the prize system. You already made a thread about it, we all know you don't like it.

Hmmm... a Lupo CUP CAR perhaps? BTW this thread is also about how the prize car system is total incompetence compared to any of the previous numbered GT releases.

That would make sense and that's not even what's being debated here. The OP was expecting a system where prize cars would be cars to be used specifically for other events. Like completing the Lupo event and getting a Dodge Ram to complete the Truck event... and so on. It's just one big daisy chain of prize cars to me if it were like that...

Yes, but I was thinking along the lines of you would get a Dodge Ram (or whatever) that will qualify in the next race. But it will be underpowered compared to the rest of the field. That way you either have to drive very well, or start upgrading the car.
In a way, I get the idea of the used car lot and searching for the cars you need.
It just seems like the prize cars a complete waste.
If I win a Lupo for COMPLETING the Lupo race, I've basically been given a car I will never use, since there are no other Lupo races.

Well, I do have to agree with this.

(So far) There weren't many prize cars I've kept. And the ones I've sold have only given me a decent amount of credits. The prize cars are not as exciting as they were in GT4, but then again, this isn't why I'm playing GT5.

I don't sale cars I win. Makes no sense. Who knows if somewhere down then line Kaz through a curve ball and at level "50" you have to use one of your original cars to get something sepcial. It's not like keeping the cars takes up physical space.

Who wants a Lupo? I dunno who wants one of the many useless cars here? Somebody does I guess. I mean the game can get by with half the amount of cars and still be more than enough but they are there in case somebody likes them.

It really isn't hard to find the car you need. You just skip that event and come back later after you win the car you needed or it pops up in the used car lot. I'm at extreme right now level 22 and the are still races back towards the beginning I haven't raced because I haven't found the car yet. I'll just keep moving forward and when that car pops up i will complete the race. I like the suspense.

I just feel by that point I'll have enough money that it won't even matter anymore that I sold the car. And if I do have to buy it back just for the race, so be it.

I feel like I'm losing more money holding onto all these cars. Especially some of these 60hp classics which are most likely for novelty or collectors. It's too bad I can't sell these concept cars too.
