I am a gt3 finatic.... and I will definately be pre-ordering GT4, but I really wish the game was more in depth... as in body kits, different size wheels, paint schemes, or the ability to custom paint the car, maybe being able to see mods to the engine/suspension/exhaust/ as you do them. (engine view) that wonderful never changing stock exhaust is really annoying...(maybe thats just me) (I finally just came to the conclusion that they were only gutting my stock exhaust and ripping me off for that racing pipe I payed for) Maybe a lisenced manufacturer of Performance parts....HKS, GReddy, Apex'i, Blitz, Sparco, Brembo, (on and on and on..) And if maybe they could add a couple of lisenced manufacturers of aero kits. C-West, Bomex, Do-Luck, just to name a few. that would be awesome.. (imagine watching a replay of a full C-West RX-7 drifting around the track.. Or HKS Silvia. Or a Mugen Civic, or NSX...)

In my eye the perfect game would be a mix of the following....

GT3 format, races, (maybe a drift track here and there) but probably 95% GT3.

Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero for body kits and paint

NFS: Underground for wheels and engine view. (and being able to see what you are doing to the car. )

Initial D second stage for PS2, for aero kits and thier respective manufacturers

Thanks for reading my grumblings.... If you wish to add any comments please do... and remember "to each his own" these are just my opinions...

Well in flight simulator they sell a normal and a professional version of the game, the professional has got more options. Why don't they do that?
It would be sweet to install professional parts and have different "qualities" in the game.
:trouble:

Well....if you want the above, play those games :D it's that easy :) GT4 will be a REALISTIC game, I mean with real physics......and those who care about real physics don't care about paint and such.....

A bodykit per car will be cool, but you have to resize over 500 bodykits  That's too much i think. Changing the paint will be cool (like buying a red used car and painting it blue ). I don't see why Poliphony wouldn't add a "change wheel" option like in GT2 and GT3 :)

I would like the option to switch out wheel sizes, and tire sizes and possibly a rain tire for the one or two tracks that are set up in the rain. As for body kits go, I would like to be able to get performance spoilers for the front and back that would let me adjust the downforce on a car that it wasn't already available on.

Personally, I've cared more about what consistancy of my next bowel movement was more than what company name was on my brakes IN A VIDEO GAME. Real life, sure, I'll give a crap, but in the games, you get to choose who did it, and nothing changes between companies.

Paint jobs..... *shudders* No.

Maybe this is a GT4 thread?
Anyway, I'd like to see paint changing added. There's nothing as bad as finally winning a particular car that you really want in a terrible colour. I'm thinking of that pinky-red Vantage that sits in my garage and cries out to be repainted.

Well, I'd say that GT3 is a driving simulator and not a showcase contest.

Hence improvements that actually contribute to the car's performance.

Probably the same way that GT, GT2, GTLC, GT3, GTC2001, GTC2002, GT4PE and GT4P did.

Speaking of which, shouldn't this be in the GT4 forum?

yes it would be cool. but remember, a dvd only has so much space. would you rather have 75 tracks and 700 cars or 20 tracks and 200 cars with bodykits and stuff

Yes indeed alta, and furthermore, the exhaust sounds do change as you increase your cars hp levels.

TS1AWD: "Sounds like you are very into Midnight Club. Im glad Gran Turismo doesn't follow the ricer cult."

I am also glad about that... sorry, but I just don't think the whole fast and furious trend is cool. Infact, I think it's a poor example of car enthusiasm in general. A very poor example. :(

You guys are getting me all wrong, I hate ricers as much as the next guy, (overlook the fact that I daily drive a civic) I've just been playing GT3 soooo long, I am starting to wish there was that kind of stuff in there, it would easily add another year to the playability without getting boring. And I agree with you guys about being an enthusiasts game, but what enthusiast doesn't like visual changes? a nice clean front lip to improve front aerodynamics never hurt anyone. The only people that I could think of that might not like this are the "leave everything factory stock" guys. But NO ONE leaves the cars factory stock on this game.

GoKents:: I was referring to the visual part of the muffler, I know that the sound changes with each one. I enjoy driving my Nismo R34 anyday over a GTR bought from the dealer, just because of the decals and the muffler tip (which I think makes the car atleast look like theres more performance)

Either way, all I'm getting at here is that I think adding features such as these would definately enhance the gameplay.....to me. about the ricer thing... even the muscle car guys, when you change the mufflers not only do they sound different but they look different as well. And as long as it's not a coffee can fart pipe then I dont see a problem with it. As for bigger wheels, I like the look of a 18" or 19" wheel on a RX-7... those factory 99+ 17" wheels get old. (I know because my '93 FD has them) or something bigger than the 16/17" combo on the NSX (I also know about this)...just think it would be more interesting.. no more changing rims with the exact same size aftermarket wheel, changing the 17"x8" wheels on a RX-7 to 18"x10" and increasing performance.

and no, I'm not a fan of midnight club. I enjoy games with lisenced cars.

Ok.. one more and I'll quit, about the body kits, or aero kits. When you watch a replay... I always notice how that so closely resembles a "real" car, and if I squint my eyes enough it looks even more real, like watching TV. It would make the game that much more personalized. and the players would get into it that much more. instead of telling someone you fully upgraded a lutus esprit, and the other guy says "yea, me too"...you could have different appearances and paint schemes, I just think the body kits would be a nice addition to that, not to mention the aerodynamics part of them. I know some aero kits look cheezy and do nothing.. a rear spoiler on a front drive vehicle for example, but something conservative would even be nice.

thank you for putting up with me through this.....just venting

And what does driving a Civic have to do with "ricing", precisely?

Thank you. Theres no need for them damn body kits, its a true racing game, not a riced out street racing game like NFS:U.

If you don't know Fam we aren't telling you;)

I DO think that GT4 sould allow for color change (not paint schemes but solid color changes) for the same reason as Glut pointed out, when you win those horrible color prize cars:yuck:

Maybe when PS3 come out they will find a medium with enough storage capacity for all those options you named TDrift:confused:

I would agree with Fam. The Civic from the factory is fine, a nice economy car. But when you start putting performance mods onto an economy car... your not getting that much, but at least your going after performance. But if you add altezzas, body kits, vinyl, etc.... It's definatly gone "rice".

I dont think adding those things would make the game too "rice" at all. just more in depth and add to the overall gameplay and value. I mean if you dont like the stuff you dont have to use it, I was just thinking there would be alot of people who would like to see some stuff like that.

civics are boring cars. they can go fast. they dont have rear wheel drive and I am tired of mine. its faster than **** but I want to get sideways now.

The key to making this work in a GT game would be distinguishing which are true Aero kits and which are rycer body kits, in GT game only aero kits would ever be welcome in my mind, and they would have to be either kits used on race cars or subtle kits, I think big bumpers and oversized wings would turn it into Gran Turismo Max power. The best idea would simpley be to bring back the race mods, but give each car a choice of 2 or 3, also make each version of each car slightley different so the 3 mods for a R34 V-Spec would look similar but not the same as the mods for an R34 V-Spec II ect, also being able to put you own sponsors onto the car would be ok, I woul go against a full paint editor but allow a base colour or two and then put any logo's from companies featured in the game.

I agree with you live4speed, I dont think huge spoilers or non functional aero parts would make it, rather, only functional stuff that would help the car at speed.
I was thinking about the wheels part, and I really hope there will be some kind of choice there. I mean, being able to choose the size (that would be appropriate of course), I really think putting wider wheels would be an awesome thing, not only looking better but functioning as well.
Paint, I dont like the idea of a paint editor either, just being able to changle colors, maybe even with already available colors. thankfully, I saved my game before beating the british challenge in pro. the first couple of times I got the worst colors for the Vanquish, and I finally got the color I wanted... "James Bond Silver", but if I were able to change the color to my choise this wouldn't have ended with me beating the last race 4 times. Keep going guys, I like your ideas. Although I have no say in the matter, but maybe I can show it to the PD guys.
