Why Gt1 and no LMP?

Ive been sifting threw pictures and the car list for the final release of gt4 and i find it disturbing that there is the panoz gt1 car but no panoz LMP. I find it wierd only because they have like 5 different LMP's but they couldn't get the panoz LMP . How dose everyone else feel about this??

Yeah thats true but there are LMP cars in the game I think?
 
Yeah, we've seen pics of LMP cars. But this maniac is panicking because he hasn't seen a pic of the Panoz LMP. Not seeing a pic of it yet doesn't mean ****.

Yes. Approximently 3 have been confirmed.

  • Pescarlo Courge C60 '03
  • Pescarlo Courage C60 '04
  • BMW V12 LMP '99

But who cares about Panoz. They just have a big engine. The car is uglier than hell and slow as ****.
 
Well i wasn't exsactly panicing i was just disapointed with that fact. I was looking more at the tentative car list than i was the pic's. But oh well i guess it dosen't really mater.

This was my discussion about the debut of LMP sportscars for which I been wanting to see them since GT2 or GT3. The Panoz may have not won Le Mans, but it doesn't mean it's a bad car. I actually think it's pretty mean. It's just what you expect from an American company like Panoz. You know this thread is going to be neglected like a cheating girlfriend, like Michael Jackson pleading to be normal, or like Vanilla Ice making a comeback. So believe me when I say that there will be LMP race cars in GT4. Don't believe me? Check out the thread I supplied, The359's car list, or the pictures from E3 2004 featuring the cars at the show.
 
...i think the panoz lmp IS IN GT4!!!
...i saw some plastic models of some cars like the lancia stratos,ford mustang,shelby cobra and panoz lmp!!!!(all wrer in one color which was on the whole body!)
why do u think they needed such models??...hmmm...perhaps to compare it with the cars in the game or to compare the relations of the size between those different cars(???)

....so I think it is in....but it´s not sure for 100%!!!

No panoz never won LeMans. Panoz was almost a joke to endurance racing. But boy did they really sound good. They would catch your attentain as the roar their way to you. But if you remember the Panoz Prototype in 2002. The one with the small block V8 thats died several times after revivation.

(they even tried to "realive" the esperante this year by selling one car to team chamberlain and they sucked up with their GTR-1 at le Mans:in qualifying they were 26th and in the race 10th or 13th til the car broke down!!)
but it was famous and good indeed and this made this cars unforgotable!!!...the GTR-1 was known as the "Batcar"(u know Batman?)

......well i would like to see those rare GT1 class cars again and hope that panoz, mercedes, porsche, lotus AND TOYOTA(YEAH!!) will make a comeback!!!!....panoz as one and only manufacture tried this at least......
 
Panoz are a well respected, competitive team.

Their LMP1 beat the works Audis on numerous occasions and was usually the best of the rest.

The Panoz GTR-1 raced this year with Larbre, and is entered for the Spa round of the LMES.

It is not intended as a competitive entry, but a farewell tour of soughts. A lotus Elise GT1 has also been entered in the ALMS, with a revised car due out next year.

The car is not entered as a GT1, as there is no such class anymore. It is entered as an LMP1 car.

The new LMP1 regulations allow both open (Audi R8) and closed (Bentley Speed 8) to race.

The new Audi and Porsche LMP1's could be coupes if the manufactuers so wish.

....i know that there´s an elise GT1 racing in the ALMS, too so do u think the legendary Gt1 cars will make a comeback??
...it´s possible cuz there´s no competition at the moment and the manufactures don´t need to prudoce expensive road cars cuz they were racing in the LMP1 class as GTP cars now but i think when enough cars are there hey´ll get a new class called "GTP-Class"!!!
 
The GT1 cars are too slow these days. Only the GT-ONE and CLR could eve be slightly competitive.

The new 2004 regs (which basically allow more power but less downforce) allow open and closed cars in the one class. The new Porsche LMP1 could be a closed car for all we know. Audi will unveil their new R9 at Le Mans 2005, while Mazda will announced their new LMP2 at Laguna Seca.

Courage, Luchinni and NASAMAX are the only manufactuers currently racing new 2004 regulation cars.

Most of the new cars will start to appear in 2005/6 from Lola, Audi, Courage (a new LMP1 to add to their current LMP2) Porsche, Mazda, Panard, CVO and others who have yet to announce their plans.

...as far as i kinow LMP2 cars have fewer Power(like the LMP675 cars!)...
 
OK, prior to 2004 we had LMP900 (Audi R8, Panoz) and LMP675 (MG Lola/Zytek).

These classes were designed to compete against each other. Hence why we have the Dyson MG Lolas competing against the Audi R8s.

Courage built an LMP675 car AND an LMP900 car.

The Pescarolo cars are based on the LMP900 car.

In 2004 the ACO/FIA produced new prototype regulations. LMP1 replaced LMP900 and LMP2 replaced LMP675.

Courage have built a new LMP2 for the new regulations:-

In 2005 Courage will build a new LMP1 car to compete for overall wins. This is rumoured to be a closed coupe like the Bentley Speed 8.

Audi and Porsche are also building new LMP1 cars.

'OLD' LMP900 and LMP675 cars can still compete for a couple of years before teams/manufactuers have to switch to the new LMP1/2 cars.

You know, I'd still include the LMP racer. Did the Esperante GT1 ever win Le Mans? I cannot recall. I'm saying the LMP may be in GT4 because while it may not have whipped Audi ass, it's perhaps a true prototype race car, perhaps the truest American race prototype. It will probably be in for uniqueness. But if it doesn't, then that's okay. It's still a good car while it was racing. And besides Lola, Panoz whipped Audi times or two. So, while not a winning car, I'd give it its respects if I were PD. For me, it's about respect. 👍 And if they want another go at it in the highest rank, more power to Panoz. Or maybe they lose because they're owned by Ford... :lol:

By the way, that Miracle Motorsports Courage is lovely.
 
I don't remember the GTR-1 ever winning Le Mans.

BTW, anyone got a pic of the Panoz Q9? Looks dead like the GTR-1, just purple.

Thank you, Solid, sir. The thing about the Q9 is that it's a hybrid engine, so it may not be as competitive as the Esperante GT1. But I agree. Like the paintscheme.

That would be awesome if they had 2 different paint schemes for the panoz gt1. I sure hope that some of the speculation that i heard about the lmp panoz beiing in the game is true cuz every time i went to the ALMS races thats the one car i could hear from anywere on the track, it neeeeeds to be in gt4!!! :sly: I love it to death even tho the R8's are way better. The panoz makes ur tummy turn when it flys past. It makes me sick and over joyed all at the same time :) :) :)
 
But that's not the same model. It looks the same, but isn't. It's quite a bit faster than the GTR-1.

There are complaints that the Panoz LMP01 was slow, had never won LM, and thus shouldn't be in GT4.

Yes, the Panoz did not win LM, but then again neither did the Toyota GT ONE's, the Nissan R390... or the Courage's that will be in GT4.

The Panoz really was the only car for years to be able to challenge the Audi R8's in the ALMS. It was a fast car, and would have been a good addition to the game.

Fogelhund, sir... do you remember that new Panoz prototype unveiled at the Texas World Speedway road course? I think they almost had a chance to win at Texas, but had rough luck. At Le Mans 2001 (my first Le Mans race coverage. So good, the coverage was shown for 24 straight hours (thanks Speedvision!)), Panoz had a disappointing effort. So they really went back to the past prototype. And you're right about the cars that didn't win Le Mans. To me, if you can put up a good enough fight, that's almost as much as winning. Look at Bentley in 2001 and 2002 before winning it all in 2003. To me, I know I make a big deal about Le Mans, but you want to at least honor great race cars. The Mazda 787B was the first race car to win Le Mans in 1991. A year later, the beautiful RX792P was created. But it didn't do very well because it consistently had turbo fires. Do you think the RX792P would go into a video game? Perhaps not.

So you know, I'd put in unique and sensational cars in the game. If I have licenses, I'd put it in GT4 even though a big part of GT4 is about historically-significant cars.
