Why has GT always been missing alot of the "little things"?

I havent played GT5 yet. I'm getting a PS3 next year, so IDK what's in it now.

But before then, GT has always been missing things like reverse lights, and skid marks on the road. And I won't mention damage, it's been discussed many times why.

But overall, it once gave me the thought that maybe reverse lights dont exist in Japan, and they have skid proof roads there.


But I always noticed that GT games never put everything 100%. Ya you can say it's all about the realistic driving. God forbid they release a game where the cars are just blocks that handle realistically.

*Note that's not a bash against GT, just a funny thought.


But I do notice that other games take many aspects 1step further than PD does most of the time. It takes them a while to put in the small things, things that are pretty typical in a driving game. I understand damage is a different story. And it's no big deal, I still enjoy GT, but it's always left me wondering why they take so long to put things in. Especially some body customization(not decals, though that would be nice to have a unique car) such as spoilers and different hoods, wasnt until' GT4 came out that you can add a spoiler.
 
GT5 has skid marks.
GT5 has reverse lights.
G5 has visible damage (and actual damage online).

Your point is?

No matter how much a developer puts into a piece of software, the users always want more. That's life.
 
GT5 has caught up in many ways from GT4, skidmarks, reverse lights and even has exhaust flames as well as moving parts on cars that Forza still doesn't have. I'm particularly a fan of the brake light illumination seen in dirt/tire smoke/rain mist.

However, GT5's damage is laughable compared to FM3

We all know that distorted/squished taillights are most common in real life. (GT5's idea of damage)

Forza at least has broken plastic/glass lenses and realistic paint scratching.

Realistic paint scratching? I don't think so. There the same scratch's every time. No matter how hard or fast you hit the wall. Just slowly bump into side of a wall and the whole side gets scratched :sick:.

You know what's laughable, hitting something and all the paint comes off like snow on a tree.

But in the respect of the OP's post, most of these problems have been solved and the game looks beautiful. I am also awaiting the next patch!

Hey dont take it the wrong way, I wasn't asking for them, just curious as to why. It's like making a realistic shooter but deciding not to puzzle flash or bullet holes.

That's also incorrect, there is a gradient level depending on how hard/fast you hit something.

Not going to argue about it. I've played it for years and see the same scripted damage to my car every time.

In Forza, when I hit something head on, paint falls off on all sides of the car. It is way overdone and looks bad. Thing is, both games have their advantages and disadvantages and parts of each look bad and parts of each look great. Damage is a tad underdone in my taste in GT5 and overdone in Forza 3.
 
God I love how the glass shatters like that, that is really well done damage.

Oh you mean like how you hit a fence in GT5 and it has the same 5ft away but you still hit it effect?

I don't care what anyone says on damage about FM3, while playing GT5 last night in an R34, after getting rear end damage seeing my rear tail light completely stretched and skewed left me laughing and feeling cheated on how they let a 4yr old design the damage system.

you know what, we should just flat out ban any talk of FM3 on the GT forums, all FM3 talk should be kept in the FM3 section.

I told you there are advantages/disadvantages to both. I enjoy both. Thats fine that you don't but at least understand that they did not have a full 6 years to do what they wanted with. They took what I am sure is a considerable amount of that time on GTPSP and 3d rendering, both of which were forced on them by Sony. They are currently working hard after the game is already out to continue to add things and I greatly value that.

I enjoy both games and I enjoy GT5 more because the physics are outstanding and the variety of cars is quite incredible. Damage is a step in the right direction, especially if they can implement the online damage into A-spec. I respect your opinion, please respect mine.

Also, the livery editor in FM3 is awesome:tup:. Step in the right direction by PD, but they could add more as well.

I agree partially, the mechanical damage is better but the visual is still better in the other game.

The idea that because Forza's implementation is not perfect but a 85% doesn't make GT5's 55% more palatable. From the sounds to the visuals GT5's is subpar with almost no damage in single player. Bumper cars are just GT's style, I guess.

I guess it's good I don't bump into cars or walls for that matter :D.

I wouldn't mind it being in the single player, though. For the OP, every game that comes out has "little" things wrong or missing from it. This must just be the only game you care enough to notice.
 
GT5 V FM3 has been done to death. We don't need it.

Continue, the topic get's closed. Simple.
 
GT has always fallen victim to the over promise under deliver. Like they talk about their plans more than their results. I get what the OP is saying and so does anyone else who has played the entire series.

But they do make honest efforts to try and get them in and they never fall off the expected feature list... Tire tracks are finally there! It just took a few version to get them in...

GT is like Clay, its not so much about a destination but journey was are all on with PD...
