Why hasn't there been any talk

About the pitcrews in that will be in gt4. I'm yet to see a magazine discuss that and what about the animated crowds that cheer you on when you're racing. I remember game informer talked about the pit crew like you will be able to upgrade them and talked about animated crowds are in works but that's it, I don't see any other magazine talking about that.

Because maybe it wont be in the game. I'm sure the magazines asked, and they got that same answer. It could have been just an idea PD was playing with. Just like the flame exhaust pic we all have come to love. Or maybe PD wanted it to be a surprise.

Perhaps there was no time to put it in the game since Sony wanted to have a world release date for GT4 before Christmas. Although there is a release date for January 7 for North America at several game websites, it seems to stupid to me if Sony just missed the Christmas sales bonanza.

I think no one talk because this is nothing so special (I mean it's just an animation that loads everytime you go on pits)

Looks like they got time to make animations.

Yeah I too have seen some pics of the animated crowds and pit crew, so obviously it would be in the game, I doubt they would have wasted their own time making an animated pit crew, and then decided to take it out, I doubt it!

They could have tried and it didn't work. But, we don't know this because PD hasn't said anything about it. So, you might not wanna get your hopes up just yet. Wait till they confirm it.

My guess is that the pit crews and crowds you see are just gonna be in the intro movie. It would be too taxing on the PS2 to run all of them in game while maintaing a smooth framerate.

You know, GT3 only used up 25% of the PS2's power. Just think about that, they are capible (sp?) of doing alot more things! :p

Now that's not true! It used 90%, but GT4 will use 100%.

I seriously doubt PS2 is able to have all of that in game.

And that's real time because I noticed afew jaggies on the car, that might be the gt4 engine, damn the ps2 is more powerful than we thought.

90% or 25% ?
"...This is the question..."

Who is right? there's big difference between 25% and 90%!!!!!
In my opinion GT3 use ~90%

p.s maybe NFS use 25%   :O

Thats what I heard anyways. I read that at SO many places! If GT4 has crowds and pit crews I would not think it would slow down the framerate a considerable amount.

In Gt Concept we already see some slowdown (in replays)
I don't know if this is because the game use at the max PS2 or if it's an error of programing the game.

The key is don't believe the hype.

As for slowdown in GTC its coz of hardware limitations, they can optimise the code a bit more to help allieviate things but I'd expect more slowdown in GT4 if they improve the graphics much more. Like GT2 had a lot of slow down, more so than GT1.

Didn't the slowdon only occur when the speed of the replay went up and you tried to zoom in the view using triangle, thats what happens to me.

By the way, if you look very careullly at the pit crew video, you can quickly deduce that what you see there is not game footage, but is actually pre-rendered FMV.

Having a look @ the pit crew video, it looks like the graphics are way beyond anything seen in GT4 thus far. The shadows are incredibly detailed, they open up the doors and hood, and they manage to put the fuel tube in exactly the right spot. The car interior and engine are fully detailed and the wheels, which you see in the animation creation stage, match those on the car. That single fact says to me that the whole setup is just a bit of intro (or other) animation.
Also, notice the camera men and other pit crews - yet more polys, and on top of this the pit crew themselves are very high polygon models, they have been modeled with the visors on the helmet. If it was just for the game, the visors would have been textured on.
As for jaggies, they are an artifact of video compression - sometimes it haas them, sometimes it doesn't.

yep, no way in hell that's in game.

Ok. I heard that you can pick your team colors in GT4. What else besides the pitcrew would have the team colors? YOU! But it says TEAM colors not DRIVER colors, even though you can still pick what the driver wears. What color helmet, suit etc. So don't be so sure until you see the final release. :p

Exactly F1, hell I saw afew jaggies on the GT40, it wasn't perfect and if you ask me that model of the GT40 dosen't look as good as the car models in the new shots released.

There are drivers, I have heard, you may even be able to pick colours, for you pitcrew and driver. All of that is unconfirmed, though, yes, even the very existance of pitcrews.

That particular animation is certainly not in game. That car model is quite simply amazing. There is no evidence of straight lines anywhere, no even in the wheel arches- a GT3 troublespot. It certainly has several thousand polygons. It blows the snot out of the released in game models, where straight lines are in evidence everywhere.

Team colors are for the rumored "Career Mode." I know you can pick your drivers racing suit color, his helmet color, and racing gloves color though.

PD also said you will be able to upgrade your pitcrews through the game, that sounds very interesting, I hope they use pit crews.
