Why is it that some threads (started by people who have searched the forums for the issue at hand) get closed in hours but others that have been discussed over and over and over AND OVER AND OVER get left up for weeks and weeks? Is there a logical reason for this?

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=226331

I actually searched the forums before posting and found no discussion on the primary (or secondary) topic and my actual question wasn't even answered in my post before closing. I admit, Famine did refer to his master list (which I have on my computer with a shortcut on my desktop) but the power figures listed are BEFORE overhaul (not to get too detailed as this sub-forum isn't game-specific).

Maybe no one knows for sure then. Maybe famine closed it, as he thought he gave a reasonable answer or somewhere along them lines, agreed no 'this car gains this much after xyz'.

Also, if everyone started a new thread for every new question or query, the site would be a mess, hence why a lot if topics got closed. I reckon yours was closed as famine directed you to the most likely place to get an answer, whether or nut hiya did that's a different matter.

I get that every single possible question being asked in a new thread takes up a great deal of space, but so does having the same questions asked in new threads because people "couldn't" spend a couple of minutes to find out if it was posted already (like I did). So here I am with the question still unanswered (and no possibility of it being answered by someone who may have seen it 4 hours and 47 minutes after my asking it, or any opportunity to comment on Famine's suggestion to check the master list (that I checked and didn't find helpful)). I guess I get to try to find an appropriate thread to add my question to (and get told it doesn't belong or that the thread was old and shouldn't have been "revived"). Anyway, I do appreciate your taking the time to add constructive comment to this issue of mine and don't hold it against you for being unable to come up with a reasonable solution. I'll save my contempt for Famine. 🤬

Overhaul returns the engine to standard spec (plus oil change). The main, stickied car list lists all the standard spec engine ratings. Oil change adds a fixed percentage to that, so comparisons are possible using that list.

If directly helping you out by directing you to the exact answer you need - a list I spent 8 months writing to specifically answer all questions of that ilk - is so contemptuous, I won't bother again.

Threads that are answered and where further discussion will just obfuscate the issue (see the "When is the reset?" thread, where the first answer of 00.00GMT was accurate and following answers were vague, unhelpful or wrong) have no continuing purpose - the answer is posted and anything else is just filler. Threads where discussion is fruitful or ongoing have a purpose - even those where the discussion is less a discussion and more an argument.

But hey, if getting lots of unhelpful, wrong answers which confuse you is your bag, I'll unlock your thread.
