That's not true. I've had it drilled into my head since I was a kid that driving is a privilege, not a right. Which is total BS since the government taxes us all for the roads and then goes and says it's a privilege for us to use them, utter nonsense.

Same, but you and I are exceptions.

Compared to most other places, it's easy to get a license here, fairly easy to finance a car, and relatively cheap to keep it fueled. You really should see the recurring taxes they pay in Japan, the regulations in Germany, and the fuel prices in the UK.

Only the one that won.... err. lol
Im guessing he was thinking of the Mk IV.

GT40 = British
Saleen S7 = British

The Vette is the only half decent thing to come out of the states, and thats only a track day special with no desirability.

Lol, no. As has been said before, until Carol Shelby put the work into the GT40, it was not a competitive car. The only UK influence is the Lola Chassis. That's it. Everything else is American.

Thats incorrect, your getting confused with the Cobra. The GT40 was designed and built in the UK, build in Coventry I believe

because we dont care about time trial leaderboards.. ill never even try that its to boring racing by your self

The saleen s7 = AMERICAN........ same with the gt................

What makes you say that? Are you sure it wasnt designed and built by RML in the UK? ;)

None of you have designed a winning car, sure maybe someone from the same landmass you live on may have but that doesn't mean you're better because of it.

Nationalism is straight up dumb. I don't care who it's from it's equally annoying. Europeans claiming they have better cars is just the same as Americans going "well we saved your ass twice, be speaking german if it weren't for us blah blah blah." How many of those people who say that actually fought in those wars? Very few. If you haven't had your hand in the exact thing you're claiming makes your country better, you're just a flag waving dbag.

No, like I said before, the Lola chassis was UK, but the rest of the car is American based. Also, until Carrol Shelby and his team got their hands on it, it was neither competitive, nor reliable.

Excuse me? I may not have fought in WW2 , but my grandfather and all four of his brothers sure as hell did, and two of them died. I am a mother 🤬 proud ass flag waiving d-bag as you call it, because I love the 🤬 out of my country. Why? Because I was born here, this is my homeland and I am damn proud of that fact. Just because you don't have any sense of patriotism doesn't mean the fact that someone else does makes them a flag waiving d-bag. Watch your mouth before you speak so callously about others families and friends.

Just the word government will throw the conservatives into a hissy fit.

But we have government sponsored football, do we not? All SORTS of government sponsored sports take place in the US. I would imagine that football is also far more dangerous than kart racing.

I know it will NEVER take hold, but that, in my view is the #1 reason there are not more excellent American road racers.

If you look at motorcycle racing, which is very popular here in the states, we have no issue at staying competitive with any nation.

Other than the nation of Rossi, that is.

Nope, like I said before your getting confused with the Cobra. Shelby had very little to do with the GT40. Us Brits are good to you ;)

Your not wrong about the pricing issues. This is the main reason people in the UK Europe and even Asia arent all running about in V8 3litre+ cars. In the UK at the monent petrol (or gas) is £1.14 a litre a quick google exchange makes that $1.80US. Thats a litre not a Gallon! This I think may be one of the reasons for the decline in the American car industry of late. Japan imports cars to the US that can produce huge amounts of BHP for very small engine size. I watched American hot rod the other day and they had a 4.5litre engine producing about 450bhp....Lots of high fives. When you look at Mitsubishi Evo's they are producing that from a 2 litre engine in some cases.

Im 37 years old and my car insurance is about £500 pounds a year for a 130bhp Golf TDI. My mates son is 18 and just passed his test. For his litle 1.1 corsa hes getting quotes above £1500.

I had to have about 20 driving lessons of 1 hour (20 years ago at £15 a time) before I sat a driving test. I have no idea what they cost now but im sure its more than 15 quid a pop.

Added to this I pay road tax at a cost of around 150 quid a year...It all adds up.

On topic, in relation to the thread title, its probably down to sales and more people are playing from around the world.

I bet the gt academy (American gt academy) has lots of Americans on its leaderboards, they are there, not here!

Sorry mate but the only thing american about the GT is the engine, and that goes for the cobra too, it was orinally a british AC Ace.

I think he means the Ford GT - not the GT40.

And whoever said the Saleen S7 is British needs to do some more research, and put down the kool-aide.

GT40 was certainly of British design btw, mainly because they had more experience with European style road racing at that time, and Ford just wanted a win, any way, any how.

Oh and another thing, you guys who said the US saved us in two world wars? go and read proper history and not the gumpf they teach you in American high, you guys came into europe when the war was pretty much over, us Brits lost 10s of thousands in the europe campaign and while we were overseas fighting you lot were hanging around bases trying to bone good honest brit soldiers wags while they were out there fighting, and yes i'm educated with a lot of my family fighting in the wars with members of my family written about.

Goddammit, read what I wrote again before you go spewing your vitriolic nationalism.

Where does it say that its his work? It correctly mentions that the car was designed and built in the UK, and correctly says that all Shelby did was fit a bigger engine to it. None of it was 'HIS WORK'.

Did you notice where it also said that it was a FAILURE until Shelby got his hands on it? Also Shelby did more than just give it a new engine, that was just the most prominent change.

As none of this has anything to do with player speed in a computer game, we'll leave it there.
