Hi all,

I have just recently started to play online and I have noticed that there is a huge differance in the sound level of the other players. I don't have a head-set so I have to assume that it has something to do with the quality of their head-sets ( correct me if I'm wrong please).

What is a decent head set to look at buying? Also, do you all turn the car volume down so that you can hear the players?
Thanks

In the XMB, there is a setting for how loud you want your mic. Personally, I leave it at default but some change it.

As for headsets, the Sony official bluetooth headset has good reviews but I have never personally tried it.

It's if it fits your ear but it will hurt after awhile and has a few problems, but if you don't care about money get some turtle beaches (or as I call them when they go wrong, which is almost never turtle b:censored:s)

Actually, in one of the firmware updates, they disabled the ability to adjust the volume on the headsets, or at least the official headsets.

Maybe it could be because people use different kind of microphones. I know, when I use my old PS2 Eye-Toy camera, my voice is very low, but when I use an ordinary bluetooth headset, my voice is normal level, or maybe a bit high level, to be honest.

If you don't mind a cord Turtle beach PX21 have the BEST sound quality for the price! They're about $69.99 US, I have the PX41's also they sound great also but your looking at $239.99 :( .. But honestly the game sounds "jam" a lot better with the PX21's!! And do you know all the game sounds come through turtle beach headsets, whereas most cheaper headsets you only hear voices, so it's really convent for "covert ps3 operations" when the wife and kids are asleep :D

I turn the sound effects to around 40 and turn the in game music off. I also lower the menu music.

The reason the mic volume is different has basically been covered. People have different equipment and their mics may be different distances from their mouths. Some people also talk quietly while others are loud.

To change your own mic volume in the XMB look under Setting and Accessory settings. There is also a voice changer in case you want to sound like you inhaled helium or the prince of darkness lol. Most people get annoyed at the voice changer so keep that in mind.
