Why is there no rear cockpit view for many cars?

In cockpit view when you press the button to look behind you for a lot of cars it just shows the bumper cam rear view. I could have sworn the Miura had a proper rear cockpit view in gt5. If it's a premium car with a fully modelled interior and a front left and right cockpit view then where is the rear view?
 
Because a lot of cars form GT4 (Standard Car) that go on GT6 has no cockpit mode so only Cars form GT5 has Cockpit view and BM4 M4 has no Cockpit view because that car is still in Beta
 
The Miura had minimal visibility through the slats when looking to the rear from the cockpit, it was likely done for the same reason as the Super GT cars with the solid backlight panels. Keep in mind the cockpit mirror doesn't show any part of the car either.
 
Not really an issue, but it would be nice for all cars to have a fully modeled rear view as they did in GT5. Like you mentioned, the Miura had a rear view. There is no reason for it not to have it in GT6. There are a lot of cars with very limited visibility, but they still have a fully modeled rear view.
 
I guess it's for gameplay purposes. If a machine does have rear visibility, they keep that view of the cockpit. If not, like the many Lambos and some other cars, they just throw in a bumper cam for the rear.
 
Would you rather not be able to see out the back at all? Cars like the Zonda R or GT by Citroen don't have any windows whatsoever in the rear, so PD had to decide between not letting you look back, letting you turn around and look at a wall, or give a generic rear view. Easy choice for them.
 
I'll just put this here, Audi Quattro S1 Pikes Peak, New to GT6, Has a rear window but no rear cockpit view. It's the kind of car you want to look back in to see what you just blew into the last week.
 
25th Anniversary Countach's rear view is just hilarious, especially with the rear wing attached! :lol:

But if you could look behind all you would see is that HUGE rear wing!
 
I'd rather have a modeled forward cockpit, or better yet additional cars than a rear view. Spend an hour less on a couple hundred cars and what do you have time for? More cars. Yeah, it's a fair trade.

I rarely bring my kid to the races so there's no reason for me to check the backseat :lol:.

All seriousness though, they should model more of them, the ones that have them are done well!

Probably done because you wouldn't be able to see anything if you were looking though the rear window. GT500 cars with opaque rear windows are a good example.

Just FYI, that's because the mirror is attached to the car, and objects in the Gran Turismo engine can't reflect themselves. I'm sure that if it was possible, Kaz and co would have parts of the cockpit show in the reflection.

It's doesn't really work like that since PD model the entire interior for quality purposes anyway. If you were in photomode and you took a peek in the interior of a car, only to find there's a black space where the back seats would be, you'd be puzzled.
Then again, you look inside a standard car and the whole interior is black.
 
I realize there is a visibility issue with some cars but if I choose cockpit view I am consciously sacrificing visibility for immersive realism. I want to look behind me in the Miura and see the engine while I'm driving like in GT5.

Yes but it's not realistic to be driving and turning your head fully backwards...
