Or glue it :dopey:

Other similiar question is: Why can't we turn off wipers when it's raining? So simple, yet we are not allowed to do it... Or turn off the lights completely at night?

I think you could turn off the wipers before a patch, maybe you accidentally clicked it while turning/accelerating or accidentally pressing it. Probably the same for the night lights.

Are you going to add to the topic Mustang or just add another stupid photo that has been done to death ??? Well done...

And you want to devote more buttons for useless bunk? I don't get it.

I've got 45 "buttons" counting the clutch GT5 which won't let me use and some I'd rather not use too often. I need 8 to drive & pause. I think 17 will cover everything GT5 uses. I could probably handle mapping a couple awkward ones to something unnecessary if it was something I'd use. A lot of people have at least one button they hardly ever use or could do without.

Lights can already take 1 or 2, wipers use 1. Making those buttons work properly would not exactly be devoting more buttons to anything. But If they were added, I've got 2 perfectly good analog sticks I could use for signals and flashers just like in TXR3. I could probably even find a home for opening and closing the windows/doors/hood/trunk/sunroof/convertible as well.

Not that it's important. At all.

Tap to toggle between High beam, low beam and off and hold to flash. Simple.

Since when are there two light buttons? I can only think of R1.

In the controller settings, there are two options that can be assigned to buttons:
-Toggle High/Low Beam
-Flash High Beam

By default, R1 is the toggle option, but you can feel free to change it or map the Flash option to a different button if you don't mind giving up something else.

I imagine most people looking for additional light or wiper control would be well suited to give up the brake button. ;)

You left out "Flash and Toggle" which is the real default, and the only button you currently need since you can only do one at any given time.

Ok, wipers are unnecessary, but I thought it would be cool. I mean, why can we turn them on in dry, but can't turn them off in wet?:sly:

Wipers are unnecessary
When you sit inside the car it's a must, pluss we need to have the ability to control the speed of them. But the players that put their head on the bumper I understand that don't care, because they see clear in any weather witch is crazy unfair. We that drive like it's ment to get one of the worst disadvantages in the game when it's raining

And to the other people that onley come with negative comments:
It must be possible to come with a question like the OP do without raining down on him with crap. Don't need to comment a thread if you don't care for it.

I agree; there are three separate controls for the lights, yet they're still ridiculously constrained.

It should be "hold" for, say, a second to toggle on/off, and "tap" for toggle high/low / flash.
Same for the wipers. Or something.

You could employ a system that NFS4 had.

L1+Up for headlights
L1+Left for left blinker
L1+Right for Right blinker

Does anyone know why only select tracks (like Nurb) force your headlights on no matter what time of day?

I think this is because in real life, at least in trackdays or races, you have to have your lights on, even during the day.

Thanks iceman, nice of you to say......i thought it was a fair question. Some people obviously have nothing better to do with their time than look for stupid pictures or icons to put in a thread they dont think is worthy. I have pretty thick skin though, so getting flamed by a couple of wood ducks doesnt bother me.

The other thing i was going to add OT, in my league racing we have a heap of guys who are very even on pace, use of the headlights in real racing is often used as a distraction to try to get drivers to miss a brake marker or make a small mistake to help get a pass. With everything else this game has thought it should be mentioned.

Cheers

Is there an Alternate Flash button?

Yeah, that would work, too. Have it two-stage, so L1+Up once gives dipped lights, and again gives full beam; L1+Down goes the other way, maybe (or rear fog lights, haha; then L1+Up toggles between dipped and full; hold for a time to turn lights off), with a simple "tap L1 to flash" thinger as well. If the lights are off, a tap flashes dipped; if on dipped, a tap flashes full; if on full, a tap dips temporarily.

Basically, there are a million and one different ways to do it, most of them better than the silly method in GT5. They should keep the sidelights / running lights as automatic, though, and have an option for automatic main lights (i.e. how it currently works), or manual so you have to turn the main lights on yourself when it rains or gets dark etc.

Wow, I'm lavishing so much attention on one little thing. Must be important, I guess! :p

I'm pretty sure you can turn the lights off when racing at night.

No, you can't. You can switch between high and low beam, but you can't turn them off. Or maybe I'm missing something? But I don't think so...

No, I don't. I want just more control, not limited like it's now. 2 buttons for lights and 1 for wipers is definitely enough.

I meant full control of wipers. They're not unnecessary, no. Then I gave a reason why control of lights would be good.

Didn't read page 2 so not sure if its been mentioned already -

Does it have anything to do with dynamic lighting, i.e. tracks where you cant have your lights on are as such because dynamic lighting is not active, therefore there would be no light reflection off walls etc?

In terms of the wipers, maybe its not as easy as having an off button. The wipers aren't clearing water, there is just an animation running giving the impression. Introducing dynamic wipers wouldn't be such a trivial change in this case.

NOTE: I am not a game developer so I may be (probably am) wrong

I want the headlights to burn out because they do in real life. Also, i like to drive with the windows about 3/4 down why can't I in the game? Also, I am constantly switching tracks on my CD player when driving to and from work, there should be a "next track" button.
Point is somethings aren't important to racing, like DRLs. yes, they are legislated in some countries to be standard equipment on road cars. But for racing they really have no point so why bother including them?

Racing isn't the only thing you can do in this game, you know. There are many "cruising" servers online that seem to focus on driving calmly on a beautiful track.

The control of wipers and headlights are a part of driving pleasure- a small part, I will admit, but it is still part of, nonetheless.

Good point.

There is a million horns, racing suits, helmets, museum cards which I find myself searching though. Its so much more than just a racing game

No, dynamic lightning doesn't have anything to do with it. On Nurburgring we have lights turned on as a default, but dynamic lightning doesn't work. On any track where you don't have night, flashing your lights doesn't light up the environment. But when you take Toscana or Le Mans or Nordschleife and you flash your headlights, you can see that they actually work.

In terms of wipers, I don't think your right, cause we don't have wipers on the Standards and some other cars, like X2010. And water just stays on the windshield and sprays out at higher speed.

Fair point

This thread = :banghead:
This is just getting stupid. People are complaining about stupid things. 1. Why do you need headlights during the day? (Even if you want it for photomode, just hold the button). Why do you want to turn off the wipers in the rain? You guys are looking for random 🤬 just to complain about.

well people have complained about the big things, now they are complaining about the small things

The wipers are clearing water. Try the Infiniti Coupé Concept, it doesn't have any wipers and the water is not cleared. After a while it's quite tricky to drive in rain with that car. There could be an option to toggle wipers automatically (like it is now) or manually. Same with the lights.

When it comes to Nürburgring and the headlights being on by default, maybe it could have something to do with this?

German road law applies during Touristenfahrten sessions. There is no general speed limit although speed limits exist in certain areas in order to reduce noise and risks. Passing on the right is prohibited and the police prosecute poor driving with the aid of helicopters.

Daytime headlights I'm all for it I mean it shouldn't be turned on automatically pending whichever map you dirve on.......instead have the option to run it at anytime of the day. BTW it will look good in replays.

In this thread, OP is only talking about two already exintant, yet not fully explored, things ingame. Meaning that we should be able to manually control the lights and wipers since they already are "sort of" working / partially controllable.
What you just mentioned has nothing to do with OPs main idea.

Might as well program in hazards if PD takes the time to do it.

Did you 2 even read my first post? I simply asked the question, didnt have a whinge at all. Also i never mentioned anything about wipers, that was brought up by someone else.

it would seem that some people agree with me and others dont.....funny that !

Is it very far to get down off that high horse ??

Geeeessh.

I also secretly want to turn on my lights during daytime and turn off my wipers when its raining.. :p

On the G27 when I configured the six buttons on the wheel, there was two different options for the lights, one was to blip the high beams and the other was to toggle between hi and low, too bad they both toggle the hi and low despite there being two options..

As a long time Gt5 drifter, I would love to have the ability to turn the headlights on/off. Cars with retractable headlights (180sx, rx7 etc..) look great with the lights popped up while drifting. I'm sure 90% of the Gt5s drifting community would be in support of this option.

I checked over here from the "Stop the Epidemic" thread to see what you what I said about your suggestion. Well, you were right. This was just merely a suggestion, not a complaint. While I may have strong opinions on things, I am always man enough to admit when I'm wrong. I am sorry for this.

Guess someone allready stopped the epidemic for you...

But what I dont understand is why when ever I look into a thread that is asking why the game is missing this or shouldnt the game allow that... I see you complaining about the thread... talk about epidemics :banghead:

You can allways open you own GT forum and 🤬 every one that doesnt agree with your view on the game istead of filling other peoples thread with your epidemic.
