Saying that PD isn't interested in it _because_ it's competition has made it a selling point, makes no sense. If anything, that is the very reason to get it. Beat them at their own game, undermine the value the competition is trying to build around something by not letting them be the sole providers of it.
The lack of that track and the F1 cars is a huge disappointment. But Top Gear more than the F1 cars. It was in fact great fun to race on, contrary to what appears to be the main claim here. Most racing ought to be a close group anyway, and if it isn't, well, then hilarity may ensue - hardly a bad thing. The intro was great, and the challenges were great too (though the invisible walls and not being able to cut corners like the celebs or even Stig did all the time was a bit frustrating). It was also great to test yourself against the Stig, or car mods against known times, and also a track that the world probably knows better than any other. Never have I jumped onto a virtual track for the first time and felt so at home around it than with that one. Someone mentioned no standing starts - easy to do, just pull up and stop before the line, then go, the clock kicks off when you cross.
I truly hope to see this track come back in DLC. And more moon missions! I've only run the first one, saving the other 2 because I loved the 1st one so much. Not having a narrow course to follow, but obstacles to find your own way around was great. But more to the point, it was the environment. In many ways that is the ultimate car. And in it's environment it was a heck of a lot of fun. The 4 wheel steering and jumps let you drive it like a Monster Truck, plus it was fast (and felt faster than it was), got great air, could slap wheelie, could power slide... basically it could do it all. More please!
And the missing F1 cars in possible (and/or more). Licensing may prevent that, and it would be a real shame, they were some of the most fun cars and events in GT5.
....but I digress
