So, I just counted the number of Skylines in my Garage...26. 26 Skylines??? (and that's from '89 and up, not including vintage models) Why is the necessary?? I can understand 10, or 12, but that number is just silly. How much difference is there really between a 1999 R34 and a 2000 R34?

Same with Miata/Eunos/Roadsters. I think I have about 18 of those. And RX-7's too. I mean really, except for some MINOR tweaks, the Gen 3 RX-7's were the same car. So I could understand 4 or 5 different versions, but over 15? Come on.

And then there are all the Kei cars. A selection of 15-20 of these would be great, but come on, do we need over 50 of them??

One look on the Photomode forum will tell you that there really are 250 popular cars that we all know and love to drive. So, for variety, put 500 cars in the game. But well over 1000? Come on...seriously???

I love the GT franchise, it's a great and involving game, but the effort to put those cars in the game could have been put elsewhere. Like more tracks, could it really have been that difficult to update and bring back some older tracks? Or maybe for every 10 cars we don't need, give us one premium car that we love. ANY car worth over 1,000,000 credits should be premium regardless of where it comes from (OCD or UCD).

Am I the only one who feels like this or are others of the same opinion?

I'd probably look around on the forum a bit before you come to that conclusion.

edit: Just to be clear, people have been questioning and complaining about the car list since it was announced, and shall continue to do so.

There are too many duplicates, I honestly can't see any difference between the two Swifts in the dealerships:odd:

Aside from slight styling difference, the '07 has more HP, the '05 handles a bit better (when doing the same tuning, with oil change)

As far as main topic, try searching, the "too many" complaint's been done to death.

I agree with this. I assume it takes GT minimal effort to make 2000 copies of the same car. I noticed I have like 6 different 350z's in my garage. None of them have any miles on them.

The more cars the better. The cars are exactly the same so they technically aren't duplicates.

I think you meant the cars aren't exactly the same so they aren't duplicates. Because IF they are exactly the same they are duplicates.

However the only reason, which I think, is behind the duplicates is the magic 1000 different cars for marketing reasons. PD needed to show something to reason for the 6 years of developement. Making minimal changes to 1 car 20 times will create 20 new cars with minimal effort.

I don't have a wheel, but on the DS3 one skyline feels like all others. Can't feel any diferences in the models.

Maybe they didn't want to increase the used space on the disc to much?

I dare say a premium model takes more than 100 mb. So the premiums alone fill up a DVD. If PD increased the number of them as they did with the standards we would have maybe 300 or 400 premiums. So PD would have doubled the memory which is required for the premiums.

But that's just my guess.

I would be very surprised if GT5 filled up anything near the capacity of a BluRay.

I don't the proper drive on my computer, but I bet you can drop the disc into your computer if you have a Blu-Ray drive and see how big the files are.

If you did a forum search before starting this thread you'd see the millions of post just like yours and you'd have your answer.

But no, we should really have this conversation again for the umpteenth time since the release of GT2.

OP, I agree with your point, but it is also pointless. The cars are there, period. Countless threads about this subject, and 'standard vs. premium' get us nowhere. I own only a handful of Nissans, but who cares. If you don't like them, don't purchase them. End of issue.

The duplicates made collecting a real pain in the 🤬

MX-5 Miata 1800 RS (NB, J) '00

vs.

MX-5 1800 RS (NB, J) '00

This is one of many examples (Mazda and Nissan are the repeat offenders). Thank god for the update with the check marks or else I would still be trying to figure out which Miata I actually have.

I had this issue just a couple days ago. I have a printed checklist that I check just in case, but so far with 750 cars in my garage the check marks have been accurate so far. I saw a MX-5 that didn't have a check mark next to it, but on my list I have it marked. I then went through my garage, thinking maybe the game lost it somehow. As near as I can tell, I marked the wrong one as listed. The one I owned didn't have the "Miata" in there, but on my list I mistakenly marked the one that did have "Miata".

EDIT:
Oh, shoot. For the record, obviously having several of essentially the same car is just an easy way to pad numbers. I've seen cars with identical models, or nearly identical with just the slightest variation between them, as well as identical cars listed under different make and model names, and all of these are simple ways of artificially inflating the car list. It takes no real time or effort to make multiple cars from the same model. All they have to do is tell the game to use the same model from car 1 for car 2, but to display different information. Even if they have different performance stats, that's really just some numbers they have to switch, which is no big deal.

even the printed checklist is a pain in the rear, the check marks made it much easier, but now that I am in the process of getting all standard cars with 0 miles the check marks dont help and I have to resort to the ol printed checklist again.

Pretty much once the update came out I spent about 2 hours rechecking Miatas and Skylines. I marked off the wrong one numerous times. I noticed the different stats but whats the real story with these cars? Is one Japanese vs. US version. Anybody?

Dont think its Japanese Market and US market, I think it is Japanese market for the MX-5 1800 RS, and Japanese Spec vehicles sold in English speaking countries for the MX-5 Miata RS. but I could be wrong....or crazy......as usual

Has anybody thought that maybe they did this because people are picky and they wanted they're exact car model? Though when it comes to MR2 owners, they're out of luck.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm one of the very few that has the search function. The others must not have it. :sly:

you certainly do like to talk about the search function in everyones threads though

I do, what of it?

gets quite annoying...if you had maybe Moderator under your name I could understand, but seems like you just dont have anything better to do.

Now lets get this topic back on track......sorry to the OP for going off topic,

it would be nice to see a few less of the MX-5s, RX-7s, Skylines; etc and a bit more of the cars that were cut completely or not yet in any gen of GT.

Doesn't matter if I post it. Clearly people need to be reminded. It's more annoying to have new threads on the same subject over and over.

On topic, there are a few too many similar models, but it's not the end of the world. I can deal with it.

This. And that goes double for Villain. Are all of your 1,738 posts admonishments to use the search? :grumpy:

Of course they are! Why don't you go browse through all of my posts and see how long it takes to find one that doesn't involve me trying to a nudge a GT5 Q&A thread in the right direction. Apparently some of you guys don't realize that this is meant to be something akin to a GT5 Help Section. When I suggest that people do searches it is meant to help reduce repeat threads and make it easier for everyone to find the answers they are looking for.

Sorry for trying to help.

I think the number of cars came from the Marketing Dept, not the creative side of development.

Even so, I don't mind having different versions of the same car. But, it is annoying to have the same car with two different names.

As far as having multiple threads that address the same subject...well that just indicates the concerns about this issue are widespread and shared by many players. Remember, there are new people buying this game every day, and some of them join the forum at different times. If a topic goes to page 3 or deeper, then I think it's OK to bring it up in a different thread.

I've been using forums for a LOOOONG time, trust me, I know how to use the search function, but I never found a POLL in regards to this matter.

I think PD needs to re-focus their efforts in the game. There's just no need for this many models of the exact same car. It's all just filler.

Don't you know - Villian has given himself moderator status, he's famous for being the self appointed GTPlanet police.

Sorry for trying to help.

You've never HELPED anyone other than yourself since you've been on this forum - all you have ever done, in the short space of time you've been here, is criticise, antagonise and pretend to be a Moderator or the GTPlanet police.

You are so blinded by this, you totally fail to see that you have very often broken the same AUP that you so affectionately quote to so many people.

Your double standards are at legendary preportions.

You say you are helping when infact you are the perfect example of the type of member who is killing this forum - absolutely no interest in anything other than thier point of view, their needs, thier way of playing the game, their beliefs, I'm right - you're worng blah blah blah..

This deluded mentality of yours is confirmed by the fact that you totally fail to understand you are only making matters worse for everyone.

Before people like you joined there was something here called 'community spirit', now we just got you and hundreds more like you - who have destroyed the community spirit because your needs and wants are (in your deluded mind) more important.

Nice work 👍

:dunce:
