Hello
why the seasonal events in gt6 not like gt5 seasonal events ?

Because they were still making GT5 events, so they didn't have time to make full races

I think a lot of it has to do with microtransactions. I think the economy model for the game didn't allow for high payout Seasonals because they were hoping people would be more desperate for money and fork out real cash for credits.

Is there really anyone out there that would be dumb enough to spend real money on fake credits? It's just so pathetic. Especially with all the ways to make credits in GT6. There can't be people out there that silly.

I've run across a few. Microtransactions are generally aimed at something called "whales". http://www.polygon.com/2012/11/1/35...times-spend-thousands-in-free-to-play-ios-and Small numbers of people spending large amounts of money. The link is about Clash of Clans and I have a friend who's heavily into it and he tried to get me into it last year. I took one look at the graphics and realized it wasn't for me and vividly recalling him saying he had plateaued because he couldn't progress any further without buying stuff and he would never pay money for it. Few months later his daughter tells me, "Daddy spent over $3000 on Clash of Clans". You get just 1/100 GT players spending $100 on credits and for GT5 that would translate into $10 Million, not chump change for sure. Kaz can buy a lot of GTR's with his slice of that:lol:

Hello
why the seasonal events in gt6 not like gt5 seasonal events ?

Simple answer, this half assed, Beta release game is unfinished and PD already have our money.

Also Sony will be applying a lot of pressure to get GT7 (or GT7 Prologue) out on PS4 before the end of this year and PD do not have the resources to do everything they need to do.

PD wont even fix all the bugs in the shambles of the game we already have little alone actually try and be creative with seasonals.

Everyone needs to come to grips with the idea that we and GT6 are going to be abandoned in the very near future as more pressure is put on PD to get GT7 out ASAP.

It is fairly obvious to me that the marketing strategy for GT6 was to rip the fans off to raise capital to finish GT7. Add to that the abysmal sales figures for GT6 and you will see why PD is not interested in finishing it - no money in it.

There is nothing in GT6 that a DLC pack could not have done for GT5.

There is nothing in Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate that DLC could not have done for Dead or Alive 5, but they still made that game anyways. The point is that GT6 is GT6 and whats done is done, besides with all the updates GT5 had, making another big update was gonna be crazy and might break the game. Also all PlayStations had 2 main GT games, PS3 is not an exception.

To answer the thread starter's question, the seasonal events here are not like GT5 because this is GT6, it's a whole other ball game. Seasonal events were intended to be seasonal and temporary unlike GT5, which were added because money was hard to get unlike GT6 which is easier to get money. Also, GT5 is still supported so more seasonals might come for 6 after support ends for 5.

They're out there. Most people out there aren't going to spend real money on in game stuff. Not dumb enough like you say. But those that do throw incredible amounts of money into it. The Tiger Woods series got absolutely ruined by this stuff.....well at least that was the final nail in the coffin for that game for me. But there were literally people dropping thousands of dollars into buying the coins. At least PD hasn't sunk as low as EA did where they basically forced people to buy if they wanted to compete. Because without the pins that the coins bought, you were getting destroyed online and in most of the tournaments by those that had them.

But I agree there needs to be more seasonal events like there were in GT5. 3 every 2 weeks is nowhere near enough given the lack of other content and features in the game. I'd prefer more TT's though. The AI is pretty terrible and if I remember the "races" from GT5 right, they were little more than the glorified rubber band overtake challenges that the entire career is now.

With the added twist that the less PP you used, the more money you made, creating endless challenges for many people to run the same races over and over with the ever increasing challenge of lower and lower PP. Yes the AI sucked but at least the events were quite varied, the payouts were huge and there was a reason to run them over and over beyond just grinding away for cash.

Yea, that makes sense. I wish PD were even half interested in providing a robust online experience. There should be all kinds of different events to do in the seasonal section. Races with a reason to tinker with different cars while making enough cash to pay for it all would be great. Even better if they had a LB for the total time for the races. Then every racing game should have a Rivals/Autolog sort of mode. There's so much that could be done with seasonal events and the general online experience they just don't seem interested.

Great point Johnny, agree entirely, I used to see how low on PP I could go, it was fun !
Unlike these boring time trials we get now.

Hello
why the seasonal events in gt6 not like gt5 seasonal events ?

Because the "races" in GT6 GT Mode are the seasonal "races" from GT5? Therefore Time Attacks are the only other thing they can do.

Only when the GT-5 seasonals end will we see what direction GT-6 will take. Many think it will mean seasonal races for GT-6. I'm not one of them. Unlike TT's, seasonal races can be won many times for more credits. TT's with low and limited payouts it will steer more people to microtransactions. It's all about the money. With PD's actions so far (incomplete game, broken promises, useless GPS Visualizer) I wouldn't trust them as far as I can throw them.

thank you guys . i agree with all points .

Do/have you even play/ed GT6?

Yes, I played enough of GT6 and still do a little. How come?
Sorry, but because your answer makes NO sense.

A) No update to GT5 could have done more damage to more systems than what GT6 has accomplished.
B) I'm not aware of any "rule" that says each console version had to have two distinct titles from a publisher.
C) It's not "a whole new ball game", it's the successor to GT5 which introduced the whole concept of events added to a game via online participation;
D) Who said they're meant to be "temporary"? The very fact that so many (races) stayed around for GT5 negates your assertion. TTs, on the other hand, did generally disappear after a set time so that sets the mold for current behaviour but in no way makes any seasonal offering by rule a temporary or short-time event. The desire to stop tracking and ranking times shouldn't even lead to any necessity to take TTs off the board completely.
E) Nowhere, in GT6, does "money" come "easily". A few one-time events pay a substantial (in relation to the GT6 economy) amount, and only a few top-tier events are "worth" grinding the thousands of times it would take to get all the cars that are available in this game. If you think RedBull events constitute "easy money", then that explains a lot to me.

I'll give you partial credit for ONE statement: "Also, GT5 is still supported so more seasonals might come for 6 after support ends for 5." Even that, at the moment, is only a hope.

GT6 introduced a lot of features that cannot just be patched in unlike Dead or Alive 5 and it uses a whole new engine(albeit based on 5), which makes it a whole nother game.

Yes, GT5 had permanent seasonals, which are a bit of an oxymoron since seasonals are meant to be temporary, however people liked the payouts so PD probably left them there because it was popular.

Also relative to GT5 ,it is easier to get money because of the login bonus, Super events, and lower priced cars. I avoid Red Bull events because they always count as losses to me and I'm OCD about in game records offline. But for the people who don't care, it is a godsend because the events are forever.

Like what?

New tire and suspension models, new lighting, new career mode, a LOT of newttracks and cars. A patch would be too big and the features would introduce new bugs and stuff versus starting from 0.

Even if it was technically possible, people who had GT5 would have to buy another disk or download and hope their PS3 won't explode and download the gigs of data needed to go from 1.00 to 3.xx, hypothetically speaking. At least with 6 people who want to play a mature and stabler version of GT can go to 5 while 6 has all the latest content and physics. Too bad PD is shutting down the online of GT5, that was a pretty big mistake.

Finally, like I mentioned earlier, I think more race like seasonals might come after 5 shuts down, but then again PD is weird these days. That's my two cents.

making another big update was gonna be crazy and might break the game.

Ahhhhhhh............... So PD releases a whole new game from the ground up that is broken to start with. Now I see your reasoning quite clearly. Rather than risk breaking a working game PD have chosen to release a broken game to start with.

Yep. Makes perfect sense to me now :-(

Note use of extreme sarcasm here.

GT6 is broken?

Couple of bugs but nothing game breaking. Much better than GT5 was 6 months after release.

Seasonals in GT6 may change when GT5 online ends. I wouldn't be surprised if 24 and 12 hour races appear as seasonal events.

Good luck with those Seasonals with the Pit Stop Bug (one of those couple of bugs you mentioned). Cars are turds after you pit, they're slower, tires wear faster and the handling is bunged up compared to pre-pit handling. Awfully difficult to run for 12 or 24 hours without pitting. But it's nothing game breaking..:odd:

I've seen wheels fly off after F1 pit stops. I wonder if Mark Webber spat the dummy after that!

GT6 is broken?.

Yes indeed. Just read all the bug threads. I won't list all the problems here.

Sorry, you're wrong again there too.

Now I know you are just having a laugh. A 24Hr seasonal? That would rank in the top 5 most ridiculous things I have ever read on this forum.
