Why Should I B-Spec?

B spec is very boring and slow paced, however you get Cr,Xp,and cars.
All you have to do is navigate a few menus.

That being said I did all of my B spec at times which I wouldnt be able to play A spec (eating, cleaning, working) as long as you can keep your driver racing why not B spec, unless you are concerned with power consumption and or wear on your console.

- Play B-Spec to get more tickets
- Win a Mazda Furai Concept
- Win a Cadillac CIEN Concept
- Win expensive premium cars that you don't want to waste money on (since it is hard to get back - win the GT by Citroen Race Car, Pagani Zonda R, AEM S2000, NISMO 380RS Super Leggera)
- Win the Toyota 7 Race Car '70
- Win the Ford GT40 Race Car '69
- Win the Toyota Castrol TOM's Supra
- Win the Toyota GT-One Race Car

Occupy yourself while Bob takes over. :)

Obviously we all play GT5 for various reasons. Some feel the overwhelming need for completion. Others need to collect every car available, Still others just want to race their friends online etc etc. As for me, at level 38 and owning all the cars I need (save for the elusive '92 Nissan Group C) My ultimate goal is a 1:50.00 @ Eifel in the F2007. Not with bob, but with Rob (me) at the (virtual) wheel... :)

Thats true. If your only interested in racing then avoid B-Spec by all means. I like buying loads of cars hence I let my bob farm. 6-7 million a day for 0 effort isn't bad :)

I asked because I know a lot of people here spend a great deal of time B-Specing and I wanted to see if I'm missing anything.
So far I'm not sold. You have anything positive to contribute or just here to stir the pot?

Your right.
Bad day, bad timing. My bad.

My 1st thread so be gentle...:dunce:

I'm A-Spec Level 38
All Licenses Gold
S. Vettal Gold
20million credits
All LMP, Group C, X2010, Ferraris, Lambos etc.

Tell me why I should B-Spec? Frankly I don't see the point. Tried one race and said Meh, not my thing. I play GT5 to drive, not collect points.

Don't do it, if you dont want to. Nobody is pointing a gun on your head.

Although its very funny to see the level of madness of your Bobs, and their amazing driving skills :dopey:

I felt the same way. Why should I even bother with B-Spec? And I tinkered with Bob here and there, I got incredibly frustrated at his inability to pick his own nose, let alone drive a car at a reasonable speed.

And then suddenly, out of nowhere it just bites you. You're hooked. For me it just started as a way to earn some credits and different prize cars (PS3 not connected to the Internet), and be able to do other things.

It has for me become a frustration and an impulsive passion. When you have masterfully gotten Bob to win - without giving him a far superior car - I almost feel a sense of pride.

It becomes a lot more involved when you get Bob to the expert races, as suddenly Bob's tyres start wearing out, fuel actually gets used. Do I send him out hell for leather at the start and hope that we can somehow hold onto this lead? Or do you play it safe and wait till the end of the race to make that push.

Sure the payouts are pretty lousy, especially given the length of some f the races, but it's almost like having a protege! He'll frustrate you at times, but he'll also make you proud when he pulls off an insane pass on the outside in the wet in a full on slide only to catch it at just the right moment and go sailing past.

I'm currently at level 26 A-Spec and 23 B-Spec. Haven't touched A-Spec until today, since I started B-Specing, after Bob did the DTM championship. I got jealous and wanted to take the CLK Race Car around the 'ring.

You shouldn't.

This B-spec thing is the most retarded thing ever.

Don't get me wrong, the idea of managing a racing team is a pretty good idea, but oh my GOD are the drivers retarded.

Really - I have actually broken a controller in pure anger because the idiot kept crashing into the same friggin' corner 15 times in a row. I normally don't have anger problems, but this is so insanely frustrating. The only thing he seems not to crash is the x2010, but that doesn't make it anymore fun to watch him own all competition without any effort.

Good question. Nobody said you have to go thru B-spec, so if you don't want to, you don't have to. The fact that A and B-spec are seperate areas of the game now (unlike GT4) means that any gamer can finish up one portion of the game without touching the other. In GT4, we had people using Bob to finish up portions of the game they didn't like/weren't good enough to finish themselves, which to me seems cheaty.

Personally, I dig B-spec. I like doing a bit of housework or talking on the phone while the game continues. If I'm done racing for the day, I like watching the computer cars race. It's dramatic and amusing, assuming you don't give Bob overkilly power.

Why Should I B-Spec?

To get to level 35 and get the fastest car in the game, aka X2010 (if you have not allready been gifted it) 👍

Thanks all for your personal perspectives and for keeping it civil.
Some interesting POVs here, most of the replies have done a good job of explaining why YOU B-Spec, but not why I should.
As stated in OP, I have every car I want already including all 3 X2010 (won, not traded for).
Maybe after I reach level 40, get that 1:50.00 @ Eifel and finally find that '92 Nissan Group C car in the UCD...
At level 38 now, I'm in no hurry to get to level 40 though (in GT5) as I enjoy the chase just a little too much.

Cheers,
Rob (1K2go)

Actually, there is no reason why you should. If you don't want to, you don't have to. Prizes? Money? XP? You apparently have as much/many as you need.

All the reasons stated why people B-spec were already said.

The reasons why I or WE B-spec are the reasons why YOU should. It's logical.

If you don't think they are good reasons, then, don't B-spec, it's not that hard.

It's like asking "Why should I eat chocolate ice cream?". People will say "'Cause it's good.", "i love chocolate so I like chocolate ice cream", "I love the taste", "It's sweet!", etc. These reasons are why THEY like chocolate ice cream, hence, why YOU should eat it. The same process is happening here.

I think you want us to convince you to play B-Spec but the thing is, you really don't want, you don't care, and you look like you got everything you wanted from GT5...

Then I'm asking to YOU, why are you asking if YOU should be B-Speccing? There is 3 pages of reasons why people here play it or not. Lot of POVs, make your opinion from that.

My 2¢.

And here's the reasons why I B-Spec/RR:

- Lots of friends for RR
- I have some "friends" in here since I started to B-Spec
- 6 Bobs gathering Credits/XP while I'm at work
- Using my Credits to get LOTS of Cars
- A way to get the "1000 Cars" Trophy
- B-Spec Level going up while I'm doing... nothing
- Prizes (Cars)
- Credits
- Completing the game 100%
- Races can be exiting if they're close

I started B-Speccing 'cause I wanted some credits... then, I wanted that Lexus LFA from 4hr Nürburgring and now, I LOVE B-Spec, and I'm completing every single events.

That sums it up.

B-spec advantages:
- Prize cars (most of them are rubbish, but some are really good, like Zonda R or Furai)
- You win money doing nothing. You can go play footy or watch tv or take a nap and you'll get money.

Thanks Zorrin, yours is the most compelling and articulate argument for b-speccing. You almost had me there...

...and yours is the reason I'm still not sold. Back to the Ferrari F1 circuits I go.

Do the events in order. Sack Bob if he/she isn't performing. Remote race. Try and keep a Bob with perfect win/race record. Try to keep a Bob with no wins and a ridiculous amount of races. Win all the gift cars instead of buying them. Get obsessed with your Bob's names. Write about your Bobs on GTPlanet over and over. Start to imagine, 'What if Bob was real?'

I love Bob! There I said it.

Make bobs and share them online for remote racing :) let your friends do B spec for you ... thats what ive done and im b spec lvl 28 now

OP, Yeah I don't see a point in it either, the effort they spent putting bspec together could hv better allocated to something else (ie. more aspec content)

Bobs have emotional issues, so if pd wanted to simulate managing your own racing team then they got a long way to go.

Their prize cars suck and is of nearly zero added value, except for the furai and toyota 7 most others can be bought in dealerships or ucd.

Agree with this.

B spec is pathetic. Everyones reason to do b spec is to get prize cars. Why didn't they just put more a spec races in?
Bob is terrible too. He's getting passed out and starts dropping places. You have to tell him to speed up. Because a racing driver wouldn't cop this on himself. The only reason to do bspec is to get money, but if you're almost at level 40 I definitely wouldn't bother. I'm at level 27 b-spec and I reckon I'll just win a trophy in the last few events left. Couldn't be arsed reaching 40 in bspec.

B-spec is just a huge waste. I see it as nothing more than a way to earn money and prize cars when I can't play myself. I just do races where the X2010 is allowed to enter and send Bob on his way. I'm not going to waste time directing Bob when I could be racing myself.

OP, don't even bother with it unless you plan on getting the Platinum trophy. You're pretty much at the pinnacle of the game judging by your first post, so there's really no point.

Thank you MuoNiuLa, just as I suspected. I did not post this thread to complain about GT5. I am genuinely curious about b-spec and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. After 3+ months of playing GT5 I am still really enjoying the game, warts and all. I have definitely gravitated to certain specific races and circuits, like anything F1 and Group C car related. I love tuning cars myself and testing them at my favorite tracks. With family, work and life, I have just so much time for this game. I just don't think b-spec is something I can get into when there's still so much else I'd rather be doing, like racing myself.

To say that you have done it, just like you say you have done everything else.. why brag about completing everything else? Because you can, right? it's just another thing like that.. if you have time on the side, you just do it.. besides once your guys are level 30+ they can win the races by themselves, you just leave them be and walk away and do work elsewhere.. Also, it's about setting goals for yourself and doing what you like, if b-spec doesn't sound like something you want to do, no one's forcing you to.. go do something else. Why should you do b-spec? Bragging rights, the self-accomplished feeling of saying you are 40/40? Hell, make your own reason up, why will someone have to give you one? (Don't answer that, it's rhetorical, I just gave you 2 because you asked)
