Why should we have to make the races competitive??

I see lots of threads about people that want a competitive race having to look at the AI entrants and match them to try and get a decent race.

Surely the AI's performance should match what we enter.

If you take an un-tuned car on comfort tyres round a track the recommended gear icon tells you what gear you should be in for the corners. If you tune that car and put it on racing softs then the recommended gear will be higher and your cornering speed will be faster.

Therefore the game knows what speed your car is capable of and what it's performance is, so why can't that system be used to adjust the speed and performance of the AI?.

Would it be a simple fix to beef up A-Spec and seasonals??

Decent idea except that if you're driving FGT or x2010 there's not really anything that will keep up with them. Plus i think that they just default most of the AI cars in higher level races with Stage 1 turbos... which aren't nearly as useful as the stage 3's. Not to mention they also dont give them racing softs with a few exceptions. Also they cant tune their cars. Also not smart enough to change tires for rain before the race or change back to whatever they are doing until the next race.

So, IMO i think they should start with fixing some of those things and it would go a long way to making more competitive.

if they did that then you would have a bunch of people whining because they can't use their X2010 and beat the snot out of the AI. I personally would find this to be very fun only because i tend to use a slighly underpowed car depending on the AI cars and track.

For Seasonals, it would probably be fine to match performance range since those are optional events.

But for A-Spec I don't think it should be enforced.

Yea, i would like to see it a little more competitive but its not a big deal to me. I just like driving my FGT's ecspecially my green and gold one(GO PACK!). But when i'm laping most of the cars twice in a 10 lap race in the "dream car championship" there's got to be something wrong.

Maybe an option to turn up or down AI difficulty to your liking.

Would they have to tune them or fit racing softs?. A boost option for the AI to match your car would do, selectable before the race. There is boost online.

Only thing i don't like about the boost is that no matter how much better you drive then the AI they will always catch up to you if they have boost on... and the way they drive they prob wouldn't pass you just catch up and sit there.

An Easy, Medium & Hard difficulty option would be nice ... Always loved it when they offered that option to you before you started a game (You could obviously change this during the game as you progressed)

More A-spec events and reworking/adding/increasing restrictions are all that's needed. Some should be unrestricted, but not to the extent that they are now.

... Or maybe they just got B-spec confused with A-spec. ;)

If you take Blackburn to play against Man U, should Man U bench Berbatov, Hernandez, Nani, Park, and Rooney? I am sure both team and all spectators want a competitive match.

Or you should change your lineup in the next meeting after a 7-1 lost?

For our folks in America, substitute Blackburn with Cavaliers, Man U with Heat, and the players with James, Wade, and Bosh.

Why should I even have to run races at all? I should just automatically be level 40, have all the cars, and all races completed. I can't believe they expect us to actually race! They take all the fun out of this game.

Well put.

Its just like any other game where you pick Easy, Medium, Hard, etc. But instead it just lets you pick your car/tire/mods combo and you can incrementally change the difficulty. I don't see what the big deal is.

👍

The difficulty level is infinitely variable, there just aren't three buttons that say 'easy', 'ugh', and 'wtf'.

Poor analogy. Man Utd must be the best example of turning a game from a walkover (on paper) into a thrilling climax.

I forgot to add for those folks who are from UK and hate Man U, substitute with your favorite top/bottom team and top/bottom players. My bad.

Because even if you under tune you can still win. It would be better if the AI raised their game. The game adapts the gear indicator every race to match you car. Surely that system could be used to increase the pace of the AI.

the big deal is the guess work needed for each combo, too many variables to take account into before you actually get a close race.

and even when the lap time match, you end up with a car so much slower in the straight line, that the "race" is basically a constant obstacle avoidance mission where you try to lap at your own pace with AI miles behind in corners.
