Sad. Even moreso that they're pretending women's empowerment is one of the reasons they're going there.

Will probably be the first live event where PD actually makes money out of it, rather than writing it off as a marketing expense. So there's that.

I hope it's a one-off, and we get straight back to those regions mentioned, Japan/US/Europe, the ones that actually manufacture (and invented/developed) cars. Pity the women in those places must be so culturally oppressed they're prevented from being interested in driving games though. If only they were as empowered as women in the Middle East, eh?...

Would much rather see more new events in Korea or China, even India, than Abu D. Places that make cars.

Yas Marina is fun I love it, but GT getting all involved with Abu Dhabi Oil wealth? Greasy! Plenty of greasy action next door in Saudi Arabia, the good old EA skank has caused the culling of many racing franchises... cant trust big money....

And the dump truck is made of gold.

I think Abu Dhabi is a beautiful track, but the government is so goddamn shady.
Makes sense that GT is expanding there but i hope we don't have to keep getting these pr interviews
Don’t get your hopes up. If it’s good enough for F1, golf and soccer tournaments, you bet GT takes part in any Saudi business. All about $$$$

It’s a shame the governments in that part of the world are so damn shady because I genuinely do enjoy racing there in sim racing.

Yas Marina, Dubai Autodrome, Losail, Bahrain and the Corniche circuit are all really fun tracks to race on. If they could somehow be airlifted or recreated in Europe or the Americas that would be perfect lol.

This.

no way this man is genuine
Oh, ask him about something he actually wants to talk about and he'll likely say something genuine and interesting; but any PR event, especially one with strategic international partnerships – or whatever marketing calls it – is not the place for honesty and candour.
I would guess it works a bit like a promo code when online shopping: mention 'something positive about women in sport in the UAE' for 10% off your next order. ;)

Some oil money in Gran Turismo is hardly a scandal, it takes a lot of cash to host the GTWS, let alone the development of
'DIOR x BVLGARI x Brembo x Fanatec x Lewis Hamilton x FIA x Sony AI present Gran Turismo 7, featuring Dunlop tyres',
I'm just extremely glad the franchise hasn't been bought by an investment fund.

Riiiight....so, that's the reason they're going to the UAE. Women's empowerment. Where there's (oil) money, you can bet big businesses with flock like rats to a sewer.
We kept hearing and getting lectured in the past about human rights violations, oppression etc in the Middle East but when money is in question, suddenly morals go out the window. Happens with governments, too.
Hypocrisy of the highest calibre.

Over there, it's nothing but Black gold "Oil" Gulf states lol they're all in on it.

Don't forget the anime money (Highspeed Etoile collab from 2024, which also has gacha ties - Yostar is in its production committee).

We are running out of places to have sport events where the government isn't shady.

Exactly, things could be a lot worse. For example Saudi Arabia bought SNK and now we have to put up with Cristiano Ronaldo in Fatal Fury. Doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Why does politics have any say in our racing?
Because you can't hide away from reality in everything. The choice to host in Abu Dhabi was a political one, these countries use these events to maintain an image that hides their human rights abuses. If you pretend your whole life that you do not see politics, you blind yourself to reality.

Bla Bla Bla SAUDI MONEY

Bla Bla Sanitization Propaganda

Bla Bla Bla Turkish Slaves

Bla Bla Bla, We dont care about the 370 people that were executed on 2025.
