Why we can't look around freely inside a car?

I wonder if anyone knows why PD didn't implement the opportunity to look around freely inside the interior of any premium car (something similar to TDU2 or Autovista in FM4, where in a showroom you can get into a car, open the doors, start the engine and look freely around the whole interior, focus on details and etc).

It's quite weird and disappointing because interiors of premium cars are modeled accurately as well as the doors (you can cause them to break off while crashing).

So what could be an obstacle to give us this great feature?

Doors only fall off on WRC cars, i'm pretty sure they're not separately modeled (and therefore you couldn't open them) on any other car.

I know if you map 'look left' and 'look right' to an analogue control (like a stick or the two triggers) you can look around a little bit while driving. Only left and right, but it gives you an okay view of the cockpit.

I agree that there should be a FM4-esque autovista option. It wouldn't be like on Forza where only about 25 cars can be looked at in this way. All 250+ premiums are modelled with such high quality for that sort of thing to work amazingly.

P.s. FM4 only having a handful of cars in autovista really makes me appreciate what must have gone in to the modelling of GT5s premium cars, all or which are the same quality as FM4s 25 autovista cars

Uh....you can. Use the d-pad if you're using a wheel. You can look left, right, and down.

Don't know about the controller though.

Actually, the AV models are of much higher quality than anything in GT5; twice the polygons are put into them. However, FM4's lighting engine, even in Autovista, isn't at the level of GT5's, which can cause it to seem like the models aren't up to snuff. There's also a glitch in FM4 that can allow you to go into any car's interior via the Homespaces, and it's surprising how well-made the interiors are.

It's a shame both games, for the most part, don't let us explore the interiors, since they must take a fair amount of time to model. GT5's accuracy (the infamous "stitching on the back seat" line) really should be taken advantage of more - why tell us about all the lovingly created nuances and then not let us view them for ourselves?

It would be great if when you demo a car in the dealerships you could watch the car drive around from the cockpit view, much like during a race you could use left stick to look around inside the car.
In real life who buys a new car without checking out the interior? :sly

Not entirely true, PD don't model anything under the bodywork unless it's a visible engine bay as you see on a few cars. Other than that, they would have to go and model a lot more of the cars to get a full autovista like experience.

Getting into a car in a showroom without opening the doors but with an ability to look around in every direction (up, down, back, diagonally), zoom and focus on any small details and move inside freely with camera would be sufficient.

There would be no need for make already existing premium cars more detailed. They could just add an feature which let us fully and easily admire the interiors. (without the necessity of unconvient use of the photomode)

Would be nice to be able to "pop the hood" and check out the engine bay.

It would take lots of time to model engine parts. They could add an option look around freely in interior while you are in a showroom. Cars in TDU2 look worse than in GT5 but they have this feature.

Well there is a back door route into looking inside premiums interiors. On some tracks and some photo mode locations, when in photo mode its possible to set up next to the cars window and then zoom in through the window. Once you are past the glass you can look around.

Be warned this is a glitch of sorts so its not easy to just look around, if you zoom in too far the car will disappear. So its pretty hit and miss.

When you use the face tracker with the ps3 eye camera in arcade mode it does allow you to look around enough for racing. Shame it's only in arcade mode but it is pretty cool with the right settings and a well kit room. Really like if you sit up higher in your chair then it raises your head position in the cockpit.

Although this thread is old, some might not be aware it is possible (with research) to view the interior from many various angles. In fact you can look inside even deeper, which I've recently found out, and actually look into the skeleton of the car. Even the engines where available are also possible. Here's a regular interior photo view and also a skeleton view from another angle...

I knew there was a glitch to get inside shots, but never found out how it was done. Nice to see the interiors close up.
