For example on Lupo race etc. If you race with the top car which I like to do as I like my garage to be best not have second best cars in it then why award a worse car? Who would want that?

Omg, I almost broke my brain.

Just one of the many baffling things that wasn't a problem in previous GT games. Sure, you did get a few useless prize cars in the older games but it wasn't as bad as GT5.

Just to make you wonder about why they do that ;) Seriously, how could anyone know that or what do you expect us to tell you?

I think he's saying if he just won a hot hatch series driving a C-30 R competing against other like cars, the prize car should be better than the cars he was racing against. Its like winning that damn Midget delivery truck in the sport truck race in A-spec, I literally threw up and left the room.:scared:

Yeah, after buying a full-size truck and upgrading it enough to win those events, you win a vehicle that mall cops would refuse to drive.

Prizes should be desirable and/or useful. Prizes are incentives for entering events in real life. What guy with a supercharged RAM pickup risks his 50k+ truck to win an 8k Daihatsu Midget?

The only thing I can think of is that there's a cultural thing, maybe a Japanese sense of irony at work here. Japanese players might love this, but I don't know.

Yes I agree that they do suck. You would think that awarded car would be something to help you on your next up coming races. Not set you back. But It's a free car and that's better than nothing. I wish they would open a auction house to where we can post are cars and sell or buy them. Instead of try to figure out when that car your looking for will pop up in the Used car lot.

I read, one of the worst prize-cars is the one you're given for winning that friggin FGT-Championship - a Fireblade or something in that range, wuhahahahaha

Most of the prize cars have indeed been terrible, and mostly standard cars which just adds insult to injury. That mini delivery truck was downright insulting. :grumpy:

All i can do is agree with much of whats been said here. Prize cars should indeed as good or a little better than the typical opponents

They sure as hell should be premiums too. Its not as if theres a massive amount of GT Life events thesedays

Still loving the game though. When you get the right car/track combo, or find a good online room, its a joy 👍

Just another baffling decision from PD. Some of those prize cars are just insulting. I don't think I've even driven half the cars I've gotten for prizes.

These guys missed a HUGE trick here.....half the fun of older GT games was WINNING THE DAM PRIZE CAR!!!!!!! Now i love racing..but crickey it would be nice to get a decent/rare car for winning hard races.

I am hugely dissapointed in this. (amongst other things....)

Quick word of advice to PD -

IF IT AINT BROKE - DON'T FRIKKEN 'FIX' IT!!!

Well i bought a brand new Lambo Murchilago, did the lambo challenge in bronze, my other half had a go and got gold so I gave it to her. In the meantime i won a 74 countach which was one of my favourite cars ( till i over did the tuning for a later race- fail)

I couldnt agree more on that Midget prize. After the time I spent so hard to look for a truck in the UCD, when I finally got one, I rushed to that event to earn myself that useless truck lol

I had a laugh though after that.

I expected responses like every other one apart from yours to be honest so there you go! Some people!

Nor me, I pretty much sell them straight away! I'm beginning to wonder whether they're deliberately trying to p**s us off. First they make us wait 6 years and then when they give it to us, quite frankly it's average!

Can´t believe the whining and bitching that goes on in almost every thread.:indiff:

Okay, end rant? Prize cars suck more often then not. To get the cars u most desire, they have to be bought, earned @ a later/higher level, traded, or waited on @ the used car dealership. It's those things that PD set in place as the primary means of getting cars to ensure longevity in their product, and diversity in vehicles online amongst hundreds of thousands of racers.

And it's a good thing all the best cars aren't easily attainable. Or everyone would be driving the same vehicles. And some people like those rare/lame prize cars of yours, so you may wanna keep them for a trade! (Not to include that thousand car trophy if you care for it) It's upsetting and annoying @ times but that's GT. And it makes it all the more rewarding when you come along the good ones!

Can't believe people who read threads that are clearly whining threads (if you don't like it - don't click it) and then post in the whining thread to whine about the whining...bah!

Agreed Spark! It's a relevant and valid 'whine'. On the other hand whining about other people whining is just being a girl! Do one!

SZRT Ice - I never said I wanted ot win the best cars. But maybe one to do another trial etc or something different at least. What's the point of giving me a peugeot 207 when I have just won the event with a 207 GTi??????? There is none.

VERY VERY VERY little imagination has gone into this, I'd forgive them if they'd put all their resources into graphics or premium cars or physics and got them really awesome. But they haven't! Nothing in this game is really really good. And it should be.

ANyway that's OT, I'm on about the car prizes. I used to love getting a spinning car and thinking what am I going to get, now it's I know what this is going to be some piece of s**t worse than the car I'm currently in!

Imagination is what is needed, win a car to enable you to participate in another event etc.

I'm speaking for the poster of the topic. And most definitely not a girl. Get over yourself woman.

And don't forget the car tickets that you can win that giv eyou a free random car! Oh wait hang on, cut the excitement, I already own that car!

Awh diddums ... Is GT5 upsetting you? ... Damn girl!

Most definitely not a girl, take ur panties back...

Quit the game & restart if it upsets you so much... :/

Im not particularly bothered ... It is a game ... Thought I'd throw it out there so that the rest of you could winge about it in your timeless fashions :)

Because they want you to use all the cars in the game, and this is their excuse for making you even consider using the Midget Type II '98. (Although, why they made it the prize for both A and B-Spec is not explainable).

I always wonder why people do say "it's a game"? Yes it's a game. One that could and SHOULD be better. Simple. IT's the mentality these days, people just settle for second best.

I have to agree with the OP, there are only a handful of prize cars that are useful and worth pursuing, especially from lower to mid level when you don't have the quick, fast track, expert level races to grind credits with like the American Championship.

The Zonda and the Minolta come to mind as extremely useful cars. The Bugatti wasn't bad either, useful for grinding certain races like the Turbo Race and getting the speed trophies fairly early.

You also get really good cars if you can achieve golds in the License tests but for most people you need a racing wheel setup to really nail the curves, braking and acceleration right. For those with a DS3 getting a silver, sometimes even a bronze is a challenge with certain parts of the test.

Most of the mind to higher tier endurance prize cars are not bad, but by the time you hit that level you can already get some decent cars with a moderate amount of grinding.

Perhaps it's because there is no other way people would buy those awful cars. Of the 1000 cars in this game, about 700 will never be purchased and driven unless it's out of necessity (e.g. event requirement).
