why would they make this game so you can't use either of the ferrari F1 cars in any of the races?

biggest, most boring grindfest of a video game i've personally played in 20 years to earn enough money to buy those cars. also, they're coolest cars in the game imo, and you can barely use them. what a shame. :grumpy:

I think it's a licensing issue. I'm very disappointed as well. The F2007 is one of my favorite cars in the game. :indiff:

It seems you've been living two lives.
In one you are nice young man from Michigan.
In the other you are a raving GT5 maniac that goes by the hack alias jpcyclone.
One of these lives has a future, the other does not.

Sorry, the Mr. Anderson comment made me do it!

Of course, your ideal reply would be:
How about I give you the finger and you give me the game features I was promised.

Because they don't have F1 license. Even having the F10 racing just another F1 car (Red Bull for example) would violate FOA terms. Oh, and there's a little game called F1 2010 that have the F1 license exclusively. Just like Porsche, it's an issue that we're just gonna have to deal with and get over it. Unless you want to donate millions of dollars to help PD get those license.

That's clever :D

All it says to me is that there are more events in the pipeline. I was looking last night at some of the cars and the prices e.g 20000000 for certain cars it would not be possible to get this kind of money in the game to buy all of them without the so called grinding. Look at the bigger picture with what i have said in mind there will be either more events added , online xp and credits or both. This is my opinion of course so i could be wrong and i am in no way defending the developers for this but it is highly likely that it will happen.

yeah i know man. it's still kind of a bummer.

you could race the f2007 against the formula gt in gt for psp, not here, though.
grinding makes this game pointless horrbile levels have to do boring endurance to level smh what a game

its tough...drinking pot after pot of coffee just to stay awake through literally thousands of laps around the indianapolis track...

what i do is put my laptop right in front of and just a tiny bit below the tv and put movies on the lap top. that way i can mostly pay attention to the movies, but i can see the game just enough to keep the car going around and around and around.......and around.....

and around...........

GT5 is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, on this very forum. You can see it when you look at your computer or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work... when you go to church... when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.

What truth?

That iRacing is the only real racing simulator.

:sly:

Wow, if we are all in the Matrix right now, what does that make GT5?

Well before they got here GT5 was the game of pong and they couldn’t figure out how to describe it so they called it a sim, just like all the food they couldn’t describe and they said it tasted like chicken. So when you are playing GT5 just improve your backhand and you’ll get all 60 Gold Licenses.

Well how could they put them in the game at all if they did not have the license to them?

How could they not add them like they did and let people use them as they want? Mean yea we cannot have a F1A series because pd does not hold the rights, they could not even have a formula one race with all ferraris in it cause well they do not have the rights to the formula one series.

But to say here is the car it costs an arm and a kidney, but well you cannot actually use it in races is knid of silly, even if there are licensing rights what license do you need to just let people use it like the FTG and the x1 and just enter it in random races?

Wait, wait, wait... You cannot use the F1 cars in all of the A-Spec races?

correct for the ferrari f1 cars. it won't let you use the f2007 or the f10 in any a-spec event.

I'm really sad about the f2007. it's easily the 2nd best car in the game after the x1 and the best real car in the game.

it's significantly better than the f10 and both ferrari cars are leaps and bounds better than the formula gt.

so if you decide to buy a ferrari f1 car to play around with...definitely make it a f2007...i have them both definitely grind out that extra 2.5 mil for the f2007.

Same thing in Prologue. I saved up and finally bought one of those things, only to find I couldn't enter it in much of anything. After all that hard work, I drove it a couple laps around Daytona and that was about it.

So we have yet another lie by ommission.

They need to clearly in BIG BOLD TYPE say this on the box of the game and in the game when youview the screen and when you try buy it.

The reasonable person who divided their time between option A or option B and decided on B based on a desire to use the F1 car in game is then shown the finger - they really may as well have gone with option A - a decision they could have made if PD was honest and upfront.

If this truely is a licensing issue, then shame on Sony and PD for not spending some of their millions to either secure the correct license or simply dropped the option in game with a public announcment.

Same for Porsche.

Although it seems odd that Sony and PD are the only franchises that do not have a Porsche license. For goodness sakes, ever Fanatec where able to get a Porsche license for their steering wheels.

Pong had better AI.

I'm thinking that the issue is a combination of the efforts of the F1 sanctioning body and Ferrari itself. The likenesses of Ferrari's formula cars alone are not copy-regulated by Formula One, unlike all other vehicles in the race series - that's the reason we can all have the F2007 and F10 in Gran Turismo. As posted earlier though, Formula One does not permit an unlicensed instance of Formula competition. So, even if it were possible to obtain a license for, say, Sebastien Vettel's world championship-winning Red Bull RB6, or even an older machine like the that may not be subject to Formula rules regarding licensing over the specific model, it is illegal to formulate an F1 race in-game. This is also probably the reason for the Monaco GP circuit being called 'Cote d'Azure' in the series, the cryptic numbering system for the winnable Formula cars in Gran Turismo 3, and PD's creation of a 'fictional' F1 machine, the Formula Gran Turismo, in Gran Turismo 4.

Slight detail change.

It is not ILLEGAL, simply in possible contract violaiton that they will still have to pursue in court..

As powerful as the FIA think they are, they have no power over the law of any land ;)

After reading this thread and finding out about the F1 Ferrari's, a little bit of GT love died inside of me.

But my newly invented a-spec macro which races that quick American cup race for 98k, for me all day and night when at work or sleeping, will earn me that quick cash I need to buy em and try em anyhow. Gotta love G15 keyboards.

Well said, my friend :)
I sure wish
a) Formula One
b) Porsche
could see that an appearance in one of the greatest racing franchises of all time isn't such a bad thing :dunce:

I'm not sure if this is correct, either.

Reason I say that is because you can race the ferrari F1 car against other ferrari f1 cars in arcade mode, which would be a "f1 competition."

The game is just made so you cant use these awesome cars in a-spec mode.
