Whats the point, the chips bottle necked. Does anyone have one of the new generation celeron chips and can you tell me if its worth buying????

Powerman, shut up.
F1king, what are you talking about?

Celerons suck. Intel sucks.

Well I just wanted to know I have a pen3 and I want to buy a new computer and I think im gonna buy a pen4 but if I can save some $$$ and buy a celeron I wanted to know if anyone has one and how well they worked.

They work great if all your going to do is MS-Office or Notepad.

Forget it if your planning on anything intensive like 3D anything or heavy music productions....

If you plan on tweakin' it, go Athlon all the way.... They stay cooler and are much friendlier for pushing additional performance.

On the otherhand, if your not into tweeking your system, get a good P4, plug it in and start gamin'.....

I o/ced my Athlon 1800+ from 1.5 to 1.8 and it only runs at 130 Degrees F :D
Oh wait.. thats hot.
I need to run a Nitrogen line around my machine.

Just take your computer, put it in a plastic bag, and stick it in a tub of ice water.... Problem solved! :cold:

But that's.... extremely unsafe.
Nitrogen is safe (unless used in an unsafe manner, one of my friends had one of those air cans with Nitro in it, and he turned it upside down and sprayed me with it, i got burnt)

Not if you use Heafty! I hear that Ziplock makes a great product as well....:D

Ziplock doesnt make a bag big enough for a machine, and if you zipped it closed, then my machine couldnt breath, and it could die! Or something.

Why didn't you just buy a 1,8ghz?

Ahh, it wouldn't need to breath if you kept it at 33 degF...:)

Someone I once knew took apart a refrigerator and extracted the radiator as well as the compressor. Through the use of plates, screws and thermo epoxy, he attached the radiator plate to his processor where he could keep the core temp under 85 degs...

There have been some tests done on fiberoptic driven datapaths with the processors sitting in liquid Nitrogen. They were getting some extreem results, until the processor would just shatter in the cold temperatures generated by the liquid Nitrogen.

So when is enough, going to be enough? I'll tell you..... NEVER! :D

Hehe, some people have too much time. :D

The P4 2.2 Ghz is an excellent processor... ;)

Nope, never!

 why overclock it? an athlon 1800 is already the equivilent of a P4 2.0, you wont even notice the difference now you have overclocked it.

The only things the celerons were good for was running servers. Unintentionally, Intel made the celeron S370 Chips dual socket capable. Boy did they make a mistake with that one!

Other than price there is no reason. FYI, an athalon of comperable "published" speed is cheaper than a celeron. The Athalons generally run faster as well..

My Overclocked P3 1000 runs @ 32 degrees C.
