I have a coworker who is trying to get her hands on Nintendo Wii. When I first heard about it, my reaction was, "what!?".

The console's been out for almost 16 months, and they are still experiencing supply shortage! Is this a carryover effect from the Holidays? Some conspiracy plot by Nintendo? How could anything like this happen, and has something like this happened before?(I'm full of questions)

P.S. Please feel free to share any pointers to the people who are still looking to get their hands on Wii!

They're just flying off the shelves faster than they can be produced. It's that simple.

I just think it's odd how this shortage has gone on for nearly 16 months straight. I even remember reading an article about how Nintendo claimed that they can increase the production before the last Holiday season to meet demands. Yeah, right.

I've been told that Wii consoles are still going for premiums of over $100 on eBay in the States. That's messed up.

I'm pretty sure I posted here last night/this morning...That's odd.

Basically I can't see how they can't produce enough since the Wii doesn't have some exotic hardware like Blu-Ray diodes or whatever.

The longer this lasts, the more thankful I am for having made the decision to go stand in line at Best Buy at 7am. At the time I wasn't even that worried about being able to get one, and felt kinda silly for driving out in the early morning.

The Wii supplies are okay here now, but were short at christmas because they were so popular.

I did the same thing, and felt just as silly, well over a year ago here in Vermont. I was not aware there is still such a shortage-they are quite common in the stores in this particular area-lots of peolple still go outside for entertainment, I guess. Maybe I should go get one to resell on ebay!

We still make announcments in work whenever a new stock of wii's come in. It's abit better now, we actually get more than 10 in a delivery :odd:

Got my bro's for Xmas after the peeps in work gave me a ring when a new delivery came in. All went to staff.

OMG, its not hard peeps. Go to a local gamestop and pay for one. When they get some in, they will call you. Odds are that another retailer doesn't just have one sitting around.

I've heard(or read, probably) about the waiting list at GameStop. It is indeed that "out of stock" status that surprised the heck out of me. I looked around for a Nintendo DS recently for a friend, and it was the same deal. Out of stock at all local retailers!
