I remember reading somewhere that apart from clearing network cache, it's also good to reinstall the game. GT6 has been getting slower and slower for me; I moved house so am not sure if internet is a factor but before my connection used to be relatively very stable, now I get disconnected from a room often. I used to live in an apartment block where it seems they overcompensated for usage and we had great internet. That said the internet seems fine here for other things (though I don't really have other high-bandwidth-usage games or electronics I use so it's hard to judge)

Has anyone ever experienced problems with reinstalls? Anyone recommend it? What things should I watch for? I googled this and also searched here but could only find threads about network cache clearing. Finally any chance that after a reinstall, the save may not work? I've got a LOT of progress to lose if so!!

If I were to do this, do I simply back up save to USB and delete the GT6 files (pretty sure I will be able to find the files to delete but don't specifically remember atm where they are) then reinstall? Shouldn't take more than a few hours? Thanks!

If every track is loading for you and you're seeing no problems of any kind. it's not really worth it.

The PS3's file system has never been the quickest and with the amount of updates for GT6 (race replays/photos/user background music) and game data for other games you may have installed, they add time to whatever the PS3 has to process and the hamster powered hard drive isn't the best for speed.

If you clear out installed data left from games you no longer play, you might be able to speed up the loading times a little but it won't be radically quicker. If you still wanted to delete the data and try and speed it up that way, you'll still have a few days of extended loading times as each track needs to install data, just the same as GT5 did.

To delete the game data, go up from where you click on the game disk to the game data utility (not game save data...), press triangle and delete it. It'll take 5 minutes at least but that's the easy bit compared to 4-5 hours reinstalling all of the updates again.

...and just in case of problems with your save file, get into the habit of backing it up to a flash drive once a week or so. Better safe than sorry where that's concerned.

I should have said, I think the reinstall is meant to be the equivalent of clearing temporary files? Since you can clear network cache, but you can't just delete temporary files like you can on PC? So will there be a benefit in reinstalling for atleast that reason, and maybe others?

If it's disconnection issues you're experiencing, PSN has been experiencing issues lately, during the last week or so, resulting in users being disconnected from the network intermittently. There's a thread on the topic.

I've been having similar issues to what is being said in that thread, getting kicked from rooms, sometimes getting signed out (so PSN a well as PD?) Thing is back in the apartment my connection was stable and others were hit and miss. And the people getting booted from rooms, has been gradually worsening but I couldn't say it "suddenly" got worse recently as described above (just my observation). Anyone here tried a reinstall, for any reason? Any noticeable gameplay difference?

,,,

Thanks for the instructions, as for what you first said nope the issue isn't with loading particular files, just general network issues doesn't seem specific to anything. Also what'#s the threshold for free space not making a difference? (eg if I made sure I had 20% free, as perhaps having more free space than that wouldn't actually make improvements to performance?

Around 10% of free space is about the minimum you want to keep available so 20% is more than enough.

As for the slowing, you could try reinstalling the game data and a week or so of playing should bring it back up to optimum speed but to be honest with you, whatever you do won't make a radical difference to the loading times.

There's no other reason I can think of that would cause it to noticeably slow down.

I seriously would endure a slow loading game than trying to re-install it. IMO, the update installation could be reviewed, on they should combine them on a GT6 XL edition, a little bit like they did with GT5

Since a few weeks ago I've been getting timed out errors when trying to join, anyone else been getting this from recently?
