I hate to be THAT guy, but fanboys took the term "AAA" and changed it into meaning a score. Those letters stand for the budget of a game. That's why a dev can say "we are working on a AAA title" because that means they are working with a high budget.

Sorry to rain on you parade.
Well lucky for you that on this occasion you are not THAT guy, because you are wrong. AAA relates to various things, including quality, scale, and budget (one being high not necessarily meaning the others are).

Sorry to rain on your (not you) parade.

The "budget" is not included in the definition of the term "AAA" by wikipedia

I think it all hinges on one thing.IGN seems to only care about one thing in most of the reviews I have seen. An amazing game with a rubbish one of these will be given a really low score. The career mode. If it is bad in gt5 then it will be given a low score if it is a good career then it will be scored high and be a game remembered as one of the greatest games ever. (hopefully)

If it's not a AAA review title it will be because most reviewers don't get Sim titles.

You know, you can't spell ignorant without IGN:sly:
IGN reviews are most of the time poorly written with lame arguments because they get paid by publishers... The only reviewer i can trust is... myself!!!:dunce:
Anyway, the carreer mode will be ecellent like it has been in every other gt game. The problem is that a lot of reviewers will present the Standard-Premium thing as a very very bad thing. Especially Edge

Who cares about reviews for racing sims

It has what no other racing game has:

3D+head tracking+day/night cycle+200 most details cars in video games(total is 1000)+accurate tracks+nascar+wrc+super GT and many more things ?

No one comes even close to GT ;)

To be honest, I couldn't possibly care any less about what games journalists think of this game. These are the people that gave Forza an average score of 92, for crying out loud. The only thing I can be sure of is that I'm going to love this game, and where I'm concerned, that's all that matters.

This is correct, titles are reffered to as AAA before they are released. It is down to how important it is to the publisher. Marketing, budget and size of franchise.

Wiki is full or crap. People can edit it themselves for god sake. I can go on there now and change it to say that it relates to the size and colour of the box but its still not true.q

With regards to scores, it depends on who reviews it. If its someone that gets GT5 and Forza etc..they should like it. If its someone who's idea of a racing game is Burnout then no chance.

GT5P got quite varied scores if I remember.

it won't get perfect scores because its a racing game, and IMO a racing sim is never going to get perfect scores....

but i think its going to get awesome scores regardless

Should I even bother reading the OP? Just by the thread title alone, this seems like a stupid question. I'll be back with my decision when the game sets PS3 sales records.

WTF is AAA? Is this the same guy who was bashing Gran Turismo on youtube as a AAA fail?

except from the rest of the gt series and forza

Hahaha. No i am not the same guy.A AAA game is a very high quality game and for the love of god i would never bash Gran Turismo

Yes you should bother. Game sales have nothing to do with my question. Yes, GT5 will set PS3 sales record but thats irrelevant. AAA indicates "the quality" not the sales.

The quality of a Gran Turismo game put into question? I find that laughable. Find me a better racing sim on console.

^ What he said, plus the 800 Standard cars fiasco.

I suspect it's going to get a Metacritic score of 79, scores from IGN of perhaps 88 (or equiv), Gamespot of 80, and whoever has sense of 93, thereabouts.

While GT5 may not rate by reviewers as a AAA title, I know it will.

I think a huge factor in GTs low score is the quality of 'standard' cars. In fact, I bet GT5 is going to sell significantly less because of it as well. Not the low score, but the low quality of the majority of cars

One big reason GT4 didn't get very good scores was the online issue....

I think this time if PD has ideed nailed the online function it will be hard not to get at least a 95...

Either way i never cared about reviews if want to try a game i just rent it...

I can't find you a better sim but the reviewers will be upset with this car racism. It is obvious GT5 is the king the reviewers, howeverk will think that after 5 years PD just upgraded the 80% of the cars.

I agree that it will affect the score but it won't affect the sales. If Top Gear advertise the game in just one episode it could sell more than gt3

Honestly, what world do you guys live in? Not mine.

Go down your metacritic list and show me a single E3 preview from any of the sites mentioned on metacritic which says anything at all negative about GT5?

And exactly what type of **** creates a poll asking a yes or no question where only 1 of 6 choices is negative?

And crash bugs? What?

I just know that the website GameTrailers will give it an average score(around 7.4). They're known to be, and I hate to say this, Xbox fanboys and you know that a lot of people will bitch about the cockpit issue and the Standard cars. But, then again, they have to think about the rest of the amazing game. Crap loads of races, amazing online, YouTube enabled, customization, good physics, etc. :)

And exactly what type of **** replies without even bothering to read the subject? I don't want to be offensive but have you even read your comment? 3 of the 6 choices are negative!!!! Please, next time you insult someone,
try not to look like a ****

Reviewers will almost certainly score it high because of it's eye candy and GT ness and that many of them aren't hardcore followers of the series like we are so aren't as keenly aware of what could have been.

Oh come off it, you think that it takes a die-hard long-term fan of the series to realise that 800 'tard cars could have been so much better?

No but I think a video game reviewer who cranks through a ton of games as a job and doesn't care about GT nearly as much as we do will write it off a lot more easily than we will.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the 800 cars only shows up as a 10% ding in the graphics department.

If it was you or me reviewing it, the review would probably be a 10 page screamfest at PD for missleading it's devoted fanbase this way, but your average reviewer I think will say "what a shame, but the premium cars look awesome! 9/10!"

You are reviewing the game not the company and the developpers
