Will PD ever fix Dream Car Championship?

I see that even after almost 2 years and numerous updates/patches they still are unable to have a properly functioning Dream Car Championship series [DCC]. Every patch/update since the beginning has destroyed this series. It still has the weather bug, tire bug, screen juddering, long load times etc even after this patch. They still cant fix the fundamentals yeeesh. This is why I don't waste my time writing theses on how they could change the game for the better as they have shown an unwillingness to fix real problems with this game. In my opinion its very obvious they never had any real intentions of completing this game via updates.

I haven't played the game in a long time but every time they release a patch I get it just to see if they at "least" fixed DCC. But every time I check DCC after a patch its still a tragedy and in the case of the last few patches its worse than it ever was before lol.

They "fixed" in updates comparatively unnecessary things like 380 Superleggerra weight, fix HSV sound [which still ain't right lol] etc but continuously ignore fundamental problems with this game like what is present in DCC. PD has a lot to undo in GT6 for me to get behind them again.

I cant be the only one that played this series to death way back to get money. Its always been flawed.

1. Weather bug. They implemented a 0-100% track surface condition gauge a few updates ago for track with variable weather. Its a nice addition if it actually worked properly. Many many times you will see the race loaded up with either 0% rain or 100% rain or somewhere in between. An example is it loaded up the track and it says 0% rain so you choose RH tires. You then hit start and its pouring rain and the AI is all on Rain tires while you are on RH guaranteeing a loss unless you are driving the X1. It happens with 100% rain too. You choose rain tires and then its bone dry and sunny lol. This doesnt happen every time but very often though. In B-Spec as well.

2. Tire bug. Since the last few updates the tires on the AI cars sometimes run all the way down to 0 grip in less than 1/4 of the starting lap. All the AI then has to pit while you or Bob get an easy boring victory. Also this condition seems to favor certain cars like NSX, FTO as there tires go down much slower than most of the other cars so they get a big lead over cars they have no business beating so the racing is busted too because of this bug.

3. Screen hanging, long loading times. As described. Sometimes, especially Grand Valley, hangs forever before loading or after beating Grand Valley it hangs for a long time before going on to the next race.

4. Screen juddering. While loading the track, with the starting grid scrolling across the top of the screen, the screen will start juddering the the starting grid instead of smoothly scrolling and the load bar takes forever to get full. In other words it never loads. So you have to restart the game. Needless to say you lose all progress you had at that point.

When I used to play GT5 I used to be almost exclusively an offline player. Maybe that's why I noticed these problems more than most.

Haven't played DCC is a while, but I don't remember any problems with it... except the legendary slow pace of the XJR9 on all the tracks, except Indy...

Really? The screen hanging and juddering have been there almost from the inception for me. The other two, tire bug for AI and weather bug have been there for at least the last 4 or so updates. I guess most play online now so they dont pay much attention to the offline stuff anymore.

I don't play online at all... hate the completely different physics and how almost nobody likes to use normal cars with race tires (I place race tires on all my cars)...

Actually, the only thing that keeps me going online are the seasonals, but that's another story...

I'll do the DCC on weekend to check it out... If I'm correct, the last time I did it was... last year I believe....

With the latest update, online and offline physics are pretty much the same now.

I did DCC post update as I am new to GT5 and it all seemed to look and work as expected. Entered, competed, dominated, won. Didn't notice any hangups or problems. Has anyone else noticed a problem?!

It's been a few months by now, but I never had any problems like that with DCC either. I'm sure it hung up once or twice while loading, but it can and does do that anywhere. Ran it a bunch of times, although I never had any weather at all. My only problems were the annoyance of restarting over and over until the goofy XJR-9 wasn't there, and the several times I let my valiant 430 Scuderia down when I could have won the series before I finally did... and the time I did win it but somehow managed to quit the game without exiting the final post-race and saving. Lots of fun, that championship was. I think it was one of the last non-enduros I finished.

In the past Ive seen complaints from others about bugs I havent experienced. I guess this might be my turn to burn while others dont have these bugs I guess. Ill try to get the bugs on video or pictures.

Yea my friend, sometimes it just happens like that. Seems like you're the only one having a specific problem and everyone else is wondering what the hell your problem is, lol.

Alright here are some crude Iphone pics explaining the TIRE BUG...

TIRE BUG PICS

Start screen so you know its the same race all these pics are from.

17 seconds in and you already see the tires losing a good bit of grip.
IMG_1286.jpg

A minute and a half in still on the first lap and you can clearly see 3-4 laps worth of damage already happening..Some cars are worse than this by this time.
IMG_1288.jpg

2:46 secs in tire wear is now half damage. As you can see we arent even finished with the first lap and you can clearly see the pit icon on. This is happening to all the AI cars.
IMG_1292.jpg

3:58 seconds of the same first lap, nearing pit lane now you can clearly see the tires are almost shot. Please note: THIS IS STILL THE FIRST LAP LOL.
IMG_1295.jpg

Every AI in the pits now at the start of lap 2 lol....

Now here is the WEATHER BUG.

Note the load screen that says 0% rain on the track surface.
IMG_1301.jpg

Now notice as I hit race start. BAM...100% rain and everyone of us are on the wrong tire lol...Sorry for the blurry screen and glare. But focus on the lower left corner that now says 100% rain lol after it loaded with 0% rain.

Same race 19 secs later. But notice also that my car the X1, is on sports hard and the computer doesnt automatically put on the pit light for me. Strange. Its another bug. If I was on RH it would have put on the pit light to automatically pit me lol.....Very screwy..

Yeah, PD are a long way from the perfectionists they once were. It's been nearly two years, if they were going to fix this they'd have done it by now.

Can't see the pics now but (I'm @ work and internet security here blocks just about all image sharing sites) are those problems emerging on A-Spec or B-Spec???

Because the 1st an only time I did this event on B-Spec, on the weather changing tracks something similar happened... Water on the track was 0% on the settings screen... I started the race, and magically, the track was wet...

Have you considered untinstalling the game and then reinstalling it?

Yeah, PD are a long way from the perfectionists they once were. It's been nearly two years, if they were going to fix this they'd have done it by now.

There is also the big ass hole at the Top Gear Test Track that lets you cut a good chunk of the last part of the track. I really can't believe they haven't fixed that yet.

Molieg yea I did reinstall specifically because of the screen juddering and ridiculous loading times but it didn't work. Also what you described as happening when you did the Bspec DCC is exactly what Im talking about with the Weather Bug....It is an A and B spec bug btw.

GTP-CargoRat yeah I know that hole lol....Its the only way I beat the lotus challenge on that track:sly:

Axl54/xStretch yeah its pretty obvious a long time ago that they were never serious on making this game whole. I knew the answer to my threads question but just had to put it out there as Ive never seen a thread complaining about how broken DCC was. It used to be the series of choice to make money so I was shocked that most didn't seem to recall all the problems it had along with the new ones...

Here's to hoping PD rebounds with GT6 as real game....I'm not gonna hold my breath though lol.

The glitch with the weather screwing up the tires on the AI has actually been fixed and broken several times now. It's also not a bug specific to Dream Car Championship so much as a bug that most obviously occurs during Dream Car Championship (because of the amount of tracks in the series with weather change).

Personally, though, I gave up on the chance of them fixing any of the single player in the game when they didn't pull that stupid XJR-9 out of the DCC after the first major patch.

You are right. I remember them fixing the weather bug but breaking another aspect of DCC. Then they fixed that broken aspect and the weather bug returned along with the tire bug and others. I think they realized how broken the game is overall and that it would be impossible for them to fix it properly. Unless I look at it that way many of the things they chose to fix in the updates/patches make no sense to me. I hope for their sake GT6 is a proper effort.

Wouldn't the light not coming on for the pit lane when you are on sports tyres be because they can be used in the wet? Racing tyres are slicks and are not for wet use at all so it would make sense to tell you to pit in those.

The XJR9 has no place in the DCC... instead they could have placed some other "Classic" competitors of the DCC: the Impreza Touring Car (the standard one), FTO STC, Honda S2000 LM Race Car... the DLC Touring cars... :ouch:

Heck, at least they could have placed the Premium XJR9... but nooo!!!

Still, they updated the lineup for the Nascar event with the 2011 models...

It seems that PD's motto is: F:censored: logic, f:censored: the fanbase, Let's bring more Skylines!

Here's to hoping PD rebounds with GT6 as real game....I'm not gonna hold my breath though lol.

I don't like the direction the game is taking... It makes me sad... :nervous:

PD have never got competitors in races right. I mean what race, except spec races, have you entered where every car has a chance of winning? No, you get two or three at the front that have a chance but by the time you get to the back they're several hundred PP points down, making them completely pointless. Then you have endurance races with no class system but they throw in things like the Corvette RM with LMP cars. Pointless.

I really have no hope for them fixing it either, it's always been the same.

Yeah the racing isn't balanced or realistic between the marques. I hate some of the strange programming some of these cars have. Totally unrealistic performance. Muira, Ruf Yellow bird/BTR destroying Enzo's, ACR's and running with Mclaren F1's LOL. We know they are classics but they would be destroyed by the newer cars. Or even seeing an S2000 destroying GTR's, Lotus Esprits and runing with Ford GT's in Poly championships....Kind of ruins the experience for me..Too many unbalanced weird programming issues with this game to number.

I thought of that too Skuh but when you see the lap times for the grooved sports tires vs RH you will laugh. One would expect the groved sports tires to work better in the wet than the full slick racing tire. But the cars on the RH in the wet are way faster than when they have sports tires on in the wet. This is why I consider it a glitch. The X1 on those sports tires in the wet took almost 13 minutes to navigate the Ring. It was almost overtaken by the AI cars that were on RH's. If it was for the ridiculous performance of the X1 in the back straight Bob would have lost this race.

I don't remember running into any issues with the DCC, but I did have the weather issue pop up in B-Spec during the Formula GT World Championship at Suzuka. The load screen said 100% rain. I stuck some racing wets on for Bob, started the race and....0% rain. He did manage to hang on to 10th before pitting for slicks on lap 1. After the other races, I knew my bobs would be fine (other than the Nurburgring race, where they would repeatedly go off track in the same corner on cold tires). Despite making the impromptu, extra pit stop, my bobs still won quite easily.
