Will playing GT6 stop backround downloads?

I know that backround downloads are halted if you start using online features in games, but if I'm just playing GT6 without using the online features (but still technically online) will backround downloads be halted? if so, is there any way to stop GT6 from accessing anything online without logging out of PSN?

Ha! I literally was just looking at that website! but I wasn't sure if GT6 would halt it if I'm not actually doing online stuff...
