Will the wait for GT5 be as long as GT4?

Yeah, the wait for GT4 was pretty bad. What mattered was that the game wasn't the next Duke Nukem Forever or the next Malice. A delay for any good game is bad enough, but when a game takes completely long, it's disappointing. A delay for a good game is even worse if the end result ends up being completely horrible, as the case of reviews of Malice. If PD wanted to go all out with this game, the game may end up being released in 2008 or 2009. Make all the rants you want about GT4 (for example, "...all that effort into the game and didn't improve AI"), but rest assured that PD will take all the time they need to make this game much better than the last. So the delays may equal or be more or less of GT4's delay. But if you ask me, the delay for GT5 will probably be equal or greater than GT4's. And I personally quote:

Time should never be a factor for whether or not a game is going to be successful at a game's full release.

I think it will take longer to make GT5 and to make it better then GT4, because well they have to get use to Blu Ray and Blu Ray Dual Layer.

Aswell as getting use to the new system.

Lets say that the PS3 will be released on schedule (spring '06) and GT5 2 years later. Well that's just perfect 👍 .
By the time GT5 is going to be release, the price of the PS3 will be dropped significantly đź’ˇ

It really depends on how much of the work on the GT system would fly right into the PS3. It's looking like a computer streamlined to play games, so if the code works and drifting behaves the way it should, it's possible that we'll see the actual GT5 at launch or shortly thereafter. The main issues with the PS2 were processor horsepower and ram.

If not, I'd think Sony and PD would be out of their fripping minds not to have a GT4 Ultra ready to play. I'd be more than happy with that. Along with a PROPERLY FUNCTIONING LOGITECH STEERING CONTROLLER PLEASE!! :indiff:

I am going to be bold and say the fall 2006. I remember reading that PD already has hi-res models and skins of all of the cars. That would give them two years to marginally improve the AI, add 12 more AI cars, upgrade the physics and add an online mode. I donÂ’t expect damage till GT6.

More cars that you can actually drive would be nice.

And no frickin' stupid corporate concepts. 2022 my arse.

I read in an article, last year (interviewed KY), that he was going to implement (real time) damage in GT5 (or whatever it is going to be called) and the possibility to crash your car, really crash!!! :ouch:

I'd be very suprised if GT5 did have damage. After all they've said they were going to substantially improve the AI since GT1...

Oh boy were you guys wrong!!:crazy:

Really sorry to drag this thread up but it makes interesting reading, 2008 release?

GT6 in 2016 anyone? :)

We could see GT5 by next Christmas...

...or not.

But if we have to wait four years, the game better have every car ever made. :)

Release at christmas '05

OMFGDYSLGHJCLG they where so wrong hahaha

Mid to Late 2008. Just wait and see.

I really wouldn't be suprised to see GT as a launch title for the PS3.

I would be fairly confident that GT5 will be along not too far behind the release of the PS3 itself. The GT series has been a flagship title of the Playstation franchise and Sony will want to have some major hitting power available for the upcomming battle with the Xbox 360.

I don't think we will have to wait long...

The PS3 is due for release in Spring 2006, and GT5 will be a launch title, in other words, it should be ready to roll out with the PS3...

I agree. A new GT game will surely be out with the PS3 release.

So, use your money carefully until Spring 2006 - you'll need it! :D

Forza is beating GT4 in some aspects so PD has to best that AND Forza II (or whatever they think Forza II will be). I presume both, GT5 and Forza II, will have similar launch dates, Yes a GT4.5 version is probable.

it's possible that we'll see the actual GT5 at launch or shortly thereafter.

Just some interesting excerpts. Of course these include various release predictions that were years off, including having the game there for the 2006 PS3 launch. They also include having GT5 release near the release of FM2, which is a little amusing since it turned out that FM3 even released a full year before GT5. Also interesting is the speculation about PD having high-quality models and textures for the cars, which they obviously didn't since most of GT5's cars are low-quality models with very crude textures. Oh, and there's the bit about no damage.

What a prophet.

Hire this man.

OMG!!! Talk about bringing a thread back from the DEAD!! LOL!!

The most epic revive ever...

But I must agree, for reviving this thread, it sure is hilarious reading these responses :sly:

Yes it is. Heck I am still waiting for GT5 to come out. Apparently the are going from GT4 to GT6.

I didn't even remember I'm member of this board:dopey:

My daughter was born the same day GT4 was released. Priorities changed, I completed maybe 20% of GT4 and I don't own a PS3 yet:crazy:

Hey, hey, my quote was truncated and I wasn't that far off, because the missing part was me saying specifically that the next GT game wouldn't be GT5.

And so we had GTHD in December 2006. Followed by GT5P in December 2007.

No spring 2006 though ... ;)

PS - Funny read. Sad part is I'm almost 6 years older than I was the last time I wrote in this thread ... :dopey:

Wow...
And when did PD first actually announce they'd started work on 5??? Was it before or after the release of GT4?

the final result is kind of disappointing, I'm not gonna lie.

Menus suck, organizing is strict, information is minimal, AI is easy as hell.. the real game is in the special events and even those are only moderately challenging. The licences are just trial by error.. b-spec is boring as hell, the cars do strange things ocasionally no one has any explanation for, options that should be available and discussed in a mature manner aren't even included so there's no discussion about them at all.. this game is a disgrace to the car manufacturers, I can see why Porsche wanted no part of it. A lot of racecars aren't included even though it's a friggen game about cars.. if you're going to have a bunch of roadsters/miata/mx-5 with the same engine I don't see why you can't put some more race cars with different body styles. There's a lack of "Other" automotive classes. No real car customization, and even less for standards than premium, which there's only a fraction of. Especially in the actual look of the car.. they have these nice menus that take 10~15 seconds to load and then only 3~6 options for changing the actual look of the car, aside from tuning options which are great at first because they seem plentiful when you're just starting but once you know your way around it's like GT1... actually this game reminds me a lot of GT1, only with online gameplay and better graphics, and of course the new cars.. which don't even reach their full potential because there's no option for it.. Polyphony, you win for having the nicest tracks with the worst list of cars to put on them. Congrats ~_~
