Then thats your choice.

Come to my city any time, and I'll show you what my "boat" can do.
Bring the biggest nitrous jet you can get. And your wallet.

Ill be bringing my RSI Unlimited viper that runs low 9s :D. Sorry, Im not saying your car isnt fast, but when a 94-98 v6 mustang can beat a 3000gt....its pathetic. VR4s are fast, but VR4s only represent a small amount of the 3000gts. Try driving an SL...then youll know what I mean.

I drove a friend of a friends '97 SL a couple years ago. It surprised me, I thought it would be a straight turd.

I'm going to have to call B.S on the V6 Mustang beating one. I don't know what the SL puts down for #'s and I don't know anything about the V6 Mustang other than it's the laughing stock of street racing.

The SL puts down a whopping 190hp. Granted, I had a few mods on the stang, but they were just boltons. The boat front wheel drive SL = slow.

when the latest model GT4 celica came out in aust. they sold for AU$90,000 rand new. the supra was going to be sold for AU$120,000+ but the supra was withdrawn from mainstream importation because that market strategy was not feasible.
so yes, the supra and 3000gt were very expensive buys brand new.

$120,000 AUD = $88,139.94 USD

My brother kill a 98 Z28 with his stock 91 3000 GT SL, wow a V8, too bad it gets beat by a underpower FF V6 190hp. Talking about that V6 Mustang, its a lie!!!

Someday, i will own a 99 VR-4, because those cars are so nice, it kills corvette and vipers. I'm talking about same class.

A 16 sec. SL beating a high 13 sec. Z28 can only mean one thing, there was a crappy driver in that Z28.

I thought all 3kgt's were AWD SL and VR-4 alike.

V-6 Mustang beating a SL? Im sorry but I'm hard pressed to believe it. A few bolt ons could easily make it that way though i guess. Bolts ons may not do much but at the same time they do wonders.

Nope the SL is FWD.

i think the Z28 hits in high 14's, because the Camero SS hits in low 13, i've see it on Speed Channel. American usually dyno their car for 1/4 instead of racing on the 1/4 track for reals. If you look at Road & Track, those 1/4 times on each car, they are all wrong. MR-2 never hit in the 13's and i dont know, some other cars too. I think its done dyno by a dyno tester. Thats just my opinion. I dont know if the guy in the Z28 is a good driver or not, but they're just side by side, sorry to say that my bros 3000 gt win, but actually it was a tie, because they really didnt start from 0 to 60, they start from downshifting.

A 99 VR-4 is very Rear, i just want to own a VR-4, it makes you stand out from all other hondas, acura, and most of American cars also.

Sorry bud, the LS1 Z28s hit high 13s. And if you do watch Speed Channel then you'd see where C/D and R/T test their 0-60, 1/4, slalom, and braking times.

Actually the Z28 hits mid to low 13s behind the hands of a skilled driver. . . plus it was listed stock with 300+hp but after a few dyno tests, the Chevy Factory found that it was closer to 330hp :D and that SL beating a stock Z28 would take a whole lot more then just being a stock SL or maybe he was pitted against an automatic Z28 with overdrive ... and the dude didn't know how to drive the Z28.
Right now I own an 89 Iroc that is factory rated at 289 hp and around 300 lbs/ft but I must say the dyno reads otherwise. . . It has the 305 in it.
Now if I can only get that T-56 tranny I wished for this holiday season I would be very happy :D

It really is quite possible for a V6 stang to beat a SL 3000gt. My mustang dynoed at 182rwhp, so that is somewhere around 200 hp at the flywheel. Stock 3000gt SL = 218hp, its also FF, it also weighs almost 2 tons. So I may be down a few HP, but Im several hundred pounds lighter, and I have RWD. Its not impossible...and the base 3000gts only come with 161hp. Not hard for a v6stang to beat.

EDIT - I was looking over the 3000gt models, and for the 94-99, the SL is 218, for the 91-93, the SL is 222. For the 94-99 there was an added base model which had a pushrod 3.0v6 which made 161hp. And sorry, but there is no way a Z28 would lose to an SL. Even a bad driver wouldnt lose. At the mustang forums Im a member of, we have idiots all the time that say they beat GTs and z28s and go 'they werent driving aggressively'. Sorry, but if they were floring it, you would have lost. If they werent floring it, then they werent really racing, and were just toying with your ass.

I dorve around in an ex's v6 stang, too bad it was automatic, but I got that thing to go pretty quick. Never really got a clean run with it though.

The newer V6s come with 190hp stock. They really arent all that bad. I bought my mustang with quite a few mods on it, but base it came with 150 hp....but 215lb/ft of torque

Hey maybe that Z28 my bro beat is an automatic, but now he drives an Integra now, because the damn 3000 GT gives too much problems, plus its old. I think mustangs are great cars, i like the 99 up, i like the shape of the 99 up mustang, they are great cars. The camaro's are great cars also, i like how the new camaro looks, and the SS, damn its hella fast. I know i wont own an American car, becaise im asian, but when i see one, i always stare at it and respect its looks and fastness of an SS to a cobra and Saleen. Those are nice looking cars, if you give it to me, i would drive it, but if i have to buy it, i would want to buy an Import cars, because I'm asian, not that im trying to be racism against American cars, if you are white, would you be driving a Camaro SS, or a Honda. I like to stand out with my kind of cars, and everyone else do want to stand out with their kind of car they fit. But thats just my opinion. I'm not trying to hate on cars or be racist.

I haven't had a chance to take any. I bought the car a couple of weeks ago, and now that winter has hit big here, (9 inches of snow the other day) it will be sleeping in storage.

If I have time after class tomorrow, I'll cruise over to the shop and snap a few off. :)

My dad has also talked about how four doors have a more ridgid chassis, and I can see that. One example I can think of is the GC8 2.5RS Sedan vs. Coupe. The Coupe has two huge doors, while mine has two smaller doors, with a support beam in the middle.

That may be true with a long wheel base 2 + 2 coupe, but a small 2 door roadster would have a very stiff frame. I prefer 2 door to 4 doors anyway. Four doors just don't have that small cockpit feel that a real drivers car has.

My 1991 3000GT VR 4 goes from 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. That’s the same time as the 2005 Mustang GT. The 1991 Mustang GT goes from 0-60 in 7.3 seconds. The 1995 V-6 Mustang has 9.9
0-60, slow as hell. Mustangs are ugly & can't handle either. And so what if VR 4s are less common than base & SL trims, what is your point. They are way more common than an RSi tuned Viper.

Anyway, if they do bring back the 3000GT, I hope they keep it twin turbo with a slightly larger V-6. Give it a navigation system & digital gauges with HUD too.

Actually.....If you compare the price of a 1991 VR4 when it debuted...in 1991 (cough why they never sold well)......And a 2005 mustang gt...........Although the VR4 is a ....alright car and all....it's still huge, with a crappy AWS system.....Chances are a 2005 stang would beat a VR4 around some tracks...sure the VR4 might beat it here and there....but a 2005 mustang would win most of the time....

If they bring back the 3000GT..it's got to be lighter.....simple as that..I don't care if it looks exactly the same..or some Mitsu-retro..or some Hybrid looking car...if it's lighter and makes decent power to all 4 tires..it'll be good in my book..otherwise...The only AWD car from Mitsu i'll deal with is the 2000 Galant VR4
