Considering I've bought 2x PS1s
3xPS2s, 2xPSPs and 1x PS3
I will continue buying Playstations and will NOT moving I've to XBox.

Understandable. But I think the opposite: after this there surely will be no reason for me not to have my creditcard details there. After this scare they will make sure it won't happen again. Like the new finance banker that lost $30 000 on a stupid trade. He asks his boss "will I get fired now?" and hit boss answers "why should I fire you, I just spent $30 000 educating you".

That's very true, however they will also be a target going forward, just because, it was done once, and now everybody will try and do it again. I don't see any point in giving anybody a second shot at my number...

it sucks not having psn, but I am primarily a PC gamer so it is not such a big deal to me.

I've been reading a lot of comments and y'all have opened my eyes to some things. I'm not mad that the network is down, I'm upset because I feel like Sony isn't being completely honest with us. Right now all I want from Sony is honesty, and for them to make it right and I don't want free stuff, I'd be willing to pay 5 or 10 dollars a month for better service because we all know it wasn't all that great anyway.

After having bought the ps1, ps2 and ps3, I think it's time for me to try something else when the next gen game consoles will be available... especially if the XBOX 720 comes out before the ps4. I don't know, for the first time, I feel like if Sony didn't really care about me as a customer (security issues, lack of communication, half-finished GT5, etc.).

and I don't want free stuff

Bet ya take it though. ;)

I will stick with Sony, said it before and will say it again. I have been loyal to Sony since the original PS1 & this will not change that.

The people who "didn't care" about you are the d-bags who did this.

A little down time never killed anybody :) time to do some single player too :D

Edit: I've also played PS1 and owned 2 ps2s both slim, two psps, slim and fat, and a ps3 slim :D

I probably won't be buying from Sony again, more specifically a next gen Playstation (if there is one) because I have lost trust in the company not because of the PSN outage but because of the reliability issues I personally have had and the way Sony has treated people with regards to what you actually own and how much control they have over your console.

I've already not bought anything from Sony since I bought my PS3 back in 2006, before that I was buying stuff from them like every year.

Robin.

Could it be assumed that you will also not be buying a console from Nintendo or MS either in the future as most if not all of your above points can be applied to them as well.

I think the anti Sony feelings has to do with the lengthy outage. If say the outage lasted only a week but all of our info was still stolen, people wouldn't be as mad because they would have been playing online two weeks ago. Just a guess.

No Scaff Nintendo and Microsoft consoles are reliable and have never had any faults and you're allowed to do whatever you want with those consoles too. Mod them, jailbreak them, whatever, Nintendo and MS don't care. Sony is the only evil gaming tyrant that wants to rule with an iron grip.

Actually, the 360 had RRoD.

Actually MS also bans people from Live for the most minor infractions. Also if you jailbrake your 360 and log onto MS live your system will be banned permanently.

A friend of mine got banned for 3 days from a service that he paid for ( xbox live) because someone did not agree with what he had on his profile. That was without a warning.

No big company cares about its customers. If they make it seem like they do, it's because acting that way makes them money. Seriously, working for a big company that deals with lots of customers (as in, a few millions of customers) willl teach you one thing: Customers are nothing but faceless numbers.

Nobody gives a damn about the customers themselves. Content customers equal more money, that's the sole reason a company will bother to make it look like they care about a customer.

I've got no gripe with Sony over this problem, it wasn't of their making... it was the Hackers fault. I've always been loyal to Playstation because I prefer the games and controllers - Sony however I don't have that much respect for them as a company because I have sold their Hifi, I don't rate that as a good product and they are not a good company to deal with.

If all console manufacturers don't buck up in reliability then I wouldn't buy competing consoles either. MS and Nintendo have never been as heavy handed with consumers as Sony though.

I would disagree with that.

MS in particular went to great pains to avoid acknowledging that the RRoD was an issue, taking a good few years to do so, and still to this day state that disc scratching is entirely down to users (despite internal memo's stating quite the opposite). All that's without discussing the mass-bans that occur on a regular basis and the bans from MS forums for mentioning competitor products.

In regard to Nintendo I would also argue that they haven't ever listened to customers, they do what they want and as long as we are buying don't give a monkey's backside what the end user wants.

Pretty much any of the charges you have made to Sony apply to the rest, this however is a discussion for another thread, as I don't want to drag this one to off-topic.

I have no respect for XBOX (all those systems breaking, and still breaking), yes I have a 360 (got free from a friend) just for FORZA and that's the only game I use it for. Sony has pissed me off from time to time but I give them the benefit of the doubt because we don't pay for online (unless you are plus).

It sucks because almost all of my friends have 360, so I don't get to play with them.

Having online down sucks, but I like playing off line so this whole thing has not been that big of a deal for me. I'm just waiting till they get it back online. until then I'm enjoying my new G27 that just came a couple days ago.

I don't take my console gaming ridiculously seriously enough to sell my PS3 for a 360 just due to a few weeks of downtime. GMail goes down, Amazon S3 servers go down, it's the nature of cloud computing. S**t happens. Welcome to the future.

I bought a PS3 because I like the developers that do Sony exclusives better, PS3 exclusives are able to squeeze better graphics out of the console, and PSN provides an adequate, if not really too great, free online multiplayer service.

Xbox Live is a really good service, with the cross game chat, good quality voice comms, better interface, and all that jazz. Unfortunately, it is also a monthly charge, and Polyphony, Naughty Dog, and a few others don't do Microsoft titles at the moment.

I'll make a decision on the next gen consoles when the time comes, but I bought my PS3 for Gran Turismo and cross-platform EA Sports titles, so I am still happy with my purchase decision. I think people are being a bit hysterical about the service outage. A lot of fanboyism in this thread, and it just seems kind of childish although not unexpected.

It´s about time that PSN comes back... But sell my PS3? No way. I would miss GT5 and Bluray and free onlineplay and all the Stuff.

Wait a minute... businesses want to "make money"????? WOW!! I never knew that before! That's an astounding revelation!! And I was sitting here thinking that everyone is just trying to be "swell guys". :dunce:

I know you're trying to sound more intelligent than you actually are, and all "anti-corporate" and such, but this whole no big company cares about it's customers is a bit off the mark. If that were true then we'd still be driving these;

And if you're too young to remember what that is, then go look it up.

They are part of the problem...

No, they ARE the problem. This is no different than if someone walked into a bank and said "Stick 'em up!". At least if they did that they'd have more balls.

Not changing because i can't afford two console. And because i like GT series, inFAMOUS, Uncharted, KILLZONE and Resistance to name a few.

they supported me with amazing fun since 1997.. i won't change for a psn outage. People that can't stand more than a week without online are patetic in my opinion.

Do you think that everyone is choosing to forget that your PS3 still WORKS without an internet connection? I just finished Batman Arkham Asylum this week. Yeah a bit of an older game, but I never finished it. For far too many this generation video games = online play. That's never been the case, but they are too young to remember anything differently.
