How do I get the WMP toolbar like on XP and Vista?
http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?/topic/25528-new-wmp12-with-taskbar-toolbar-for-windows-7/

However, the toolbar isn't *actually* needed, because of 7's active previews and thumbnail hover:

Main controls there except for volume, which you can (probably) control from your keyboard anyway. Hovering over the thumbnail itself pops up WMP, and from there you can easily see what song you're playing in real time - however, for some completely weird reason, that method only works if WMP is not minimized. If WMP is minimized, when you hover over the thumbnail you will only see WMP as it was when you minimized it - currently playing track and position included.

Which brings me to my list of beefs with Windows 7:
WMP thumbnail hover borked when minimized
Safely Remove Hardware & Eject Media context menu takes AGES to pop up on both left and right-click

(that's it. lol)

I just bought a new PC with Windows7. At first all very easy and good looking.
A couple of isues arose soon though, I wanted to transfer my video and photos off my Canon MVX4i.
It turns out that the software is not compatible with Windows7. Neither is the new Kodak C180 my wife bought.
I've searched updates for drivers, and Canon is working with Microsoft to sort this issue out.
Would anyone be able to add to the list of non compatible software for Windows7.

I've heard some people quoting Windows 7 as being lighter on the system resources—how much of a difference are we looking at in terms of absolutes, ie. if I were to strip it down to bare, essential running programs?

If you're meaning that it doesn't show the full window of WMP like when its maximized, its because when you hover over it shows the current position of the window. If its minimized, the current position is only the taskbar...That's how its meant to work.

Edit: By the way, iTunes works the same way by having the same controls in the preview window.

I quite like how, when you look at a program on the start menu, it shows any filed you recently opened with the program in a pulldown to the right of the Icon. It is a really nifty idea.

I've been running 7 Pro for a while now (since its retail release) and its excellent. This was my first experience with 64bit (upgraded from XP 32) and although it uses slightly more system resources (as 64 naturally does) it is very reliable and feels faster even on an old-ish 2.2 GHz / 1GB system. Oh and it was the Windows installation I have been through without a hitch.

Robin.

I'm still on RC here but I should buy Home Premium in the next few months. The RC version will start turning off every couple of hours sometime in march if I remember correctly, so I should hurry.

Firefox should implement the Windows 7 progress bar to its download manager. You know, the green bar that shows on IE and Windows Explorer's icons when you're downloading or transferring something. I have third party software installed that uses that, so it shouldn't be hard for Firefox to do it too.

Reviving a very old thread here  ,I do have a weird annoying glitch which I wanted to ask, sometimes when I open Chrome I can't scroll up and down when it loads and I hae to minimize the window or press show desktop then it will work .Any one experience this before?

Hmm not shure on that one ive just started using Chrome 3 months ago and its been ok .

Only thing I can suggest is to have a look at the Chrome privacy settings as thay can effect how smoothly it runs .

On another note I discoverd somthing called the Snipping Tool under accessories and I love the thing :D

I'm having the same problem too! But I usually just windowed it from full screen, and change it back to full screen and only then it will work. Not just scrolling being the problem, typing is also a problem. The words won't come out until I do the same thing again.

I'm using Chrome Version 23.0.1271.64 m by the way...
