Ok, I just finished reformatting my computer, and I'm currently downloading SP2, I'll post the result's when I'm done installing and everything.

:).

EDIT: Ok, I downloaded it and I installed it, and I must say it's awesome, there's a built in firewall, IE is way awesomer, it's got a pop-up blocker, and everything.

XP has always had a built-it firewall. The SP2 one is just more advertised and configurable.

When I installed it, it wouldn't let me access the firewall settings. So I burnt it to a CD, formatted and when I went to install it I got a CRC error. Never bothered downloading and trying again. :grumpy:

I had no clue XP had a built in firewall. Did you use XP Home or Pro?
It's on both.
  • Go into Network Settings
  • Right click on your internet connection > Properties
  • Click on the 'Advanced' tab
  • Check the box under 'Internet Connection Firewall'

;)

I have a question about this SP2...

I have Windows 2000, and I was wondering, Will it replace some of the system files I have now for Windows 2000? Or will it just not work?

And, does this come with the uxtheme.dll file? If so, Can I patch it over with some fancy theme while still on Windows 2000?

I don't see why it would come with the uxtheme.dll file, though, I am having diffuculty installing the uxtheme.dll file on SP2. :irked:

This is XP Service Pack 2. Not Windows 2000 SP2.
