So, on my Volvo the windshield is nasty as all hell. At night the glare is horrid! I've tried everything under the sun is far as glass cleaners, I even tried some 4ot steel wool. My windshield still looks horrible like there's a layer of film that just will not come off, any suggestions?

:p

If it is indeed the inside, try something that is specific for nicotine removal. That usually does the trick.

Same HERE my trunk window will not get cleaned at all! I think primer is on it

Bottoz
Get a new windshield.
I've tried this and found known for my cars trunk.

Has it just appeared or is it a new car? I had this with my new polo where the glass was reflecting double.

Used car. It was like this when I bought it. It seems like its actually in the middle

Could be slightly warped. Not a lot, maybe not even noticeable to the eye, but just enough to bend incoming light.

When i said 'new polo' i meant it was new to me but 3 years old, i ended up having to replace the windshield because it turned out there was a flaw in the glass but yours may not be so serious, is there any chance it's just diesel fumes?

I do not know what it is. it looks like someone wrote on it while it was fogged up and it left finger marks, yet they will not come out with any cleaner or wipe.

My boss suggested trying rubbing alcohol and a clean terry cloth. which i am going to try tonight i just have no idea what it is. like i said it looks like there are 3 layers of glass and this is in the middle layer. i may just get a new windshield if i can. maybe purposely drive behind rock haulers.

Also, i did look around. Outright a new shield would be about $200. thats less than i thought.

Did you try Safelite?

They said something about having their work covered by insurance, or do you plan on doing it yourself?

If it won't clear after cleaning it on the inside and out, it sounds like there might be some issue with the thin poly vinyl sheet laminated between the inner and out layer. Nothing you can do about that i'm afraid.

Yeah my dad just had his windshield replaced by safelite, paid for by his insurance. Try that 👍

First thing is that Safelite use cheap Chinese made windshields which are garbage. They use a thinner glass then the OEM one and it could break more easily.

Yeah they didn't even fit it right, there was air passing through where they didn't seal it right 👎 but it's an option.
