Look at it this way: Had Hamilton been at Renault with Alonso last year, and would be the one leaving, do you really think it'd be safe for Alonso to visit a pub in the UK?

(I am not justifying any of this)

I understand. My point was, given an opposite result to the story, we could've expected the same from British tabloids and retarted soccer-hooligans turned to F1.

I agree, I understand what your saying, it would be no different with the roles reversed.

They should be congratulated. Not many teams will abandon a test because of a mere suspicion that the other car has defective parts, as well.

Williams did it now, just like in 1986 when they took the second car out of the championship-decider on the mere suspicion that the tyres were defective.

Lol, why is Lee a Kimi hater? He only said that he doesn't like ihm and he is nod fond of the way he speaks. If your not a fan of Kimi then it doesn't automatically mean that you hate him.

Räikkönen boyant after Bahrain test

All of you Kimi-haters out there (Bee), get ready for an excruciating season from your point of view.

For us "fanboys", this might be that easy Schumacher-esque season we all deserve.

Looks like it could be heading that way - the latest issue of Autosport paints the Ferrari as a very impressive machine indeed. Whether it can challenge on tracks like Monaco this year is undecided, but the question is will it have to....

BTW, am I the only one who prefers the look of the Ferrari when it's barcodes instead of Marlboro, I just don't think the white on black lettering works well at all.

Oh yes. The Barcodes look pretty cool, especially in the 2007 "slant" style (didn't care much for the 2006 straight ones). The Marlboro logo looked to incredibly ugly this year at Shanghai, especially after a season with those neat barcodes.

EDIT: Honda's becoming desperate - offers 2000$ to every employee in return for a win!

Well he always wishes that he DNF's, but I didn't really mean HATE.

From what I've read McLaren made their wheelbase longer so I'm guessing that would make McLaren/Ferrari more even on low speed tracks.

And I like the barcodes myself, 👎 Tobacco.

He more of a 'predicted' this in his pre-race top-8. And based on Kimi's 2005 and 2006 misfortunes, I'd say they weren't very unreasonable - then.

So McLaren Mercedes is testing some new wheel hubs

They're just measuring-equipment for the tyres - flex, temprature, whatever - nothing legal that will actually run during a race. The wheelcovers in Formula 1 are not allowed to stick out of the tyre's reference-plane.

They’re in the legal area where they are still technically defined as brake ducts. They’re legal to race IMO.

That looks questionable to me, I wonder what would happen if they were to bang wheels with someone.

I'm no expert but I expect it would certainly damage the opponents tyre along with the mclaren car's

Re-reading it, apparently it's legal to have them sticking out front, but illegal to have them out back.

Though Ferrari justified their original claiming that "as long as it doesn't 'stick out', it's ok"...

The only damage to the McLaren car would be losing that hideous creation :p

Yeah, well brake ducts hardly need to be behind the brakes, does it? ;)

I don’t remember that. But as long as it doesn’t push the width of the car past the width allowed in the regulations it shouldn’t be a problem.

Nick Heidfeld believes BMW’s 2008 car is now “most definitely” better than last year’s version after the team showed improved form over recent pre-season tests.

The German manufacturer squad admitted its new F1.08 wasn’t quite where it wanted it to be following its first tests last month, with balance issues hindering the new challenger’s pace.

Heidfeld himself admitted the car wasn’t as easy to drive out of the box as its predecessor had been – but now believes those early problems have been cured.

"The car is most definitely better than last year's," he told the official BMW website.

"You just have to take a look at the lap times to realise this.

“At the latest test, I said the old car was better balanced - but you shouldn't forget that we had an entire year to find this balance.

“Since then, we've had time to improve the new car's balance too, and it is also equipped with new components."

Although the recent tests at Barcelona and Jerez have seen last year’s third-fastest outfit climb back up the timesheets, the team has yet to show it will be able to challenge Ferrari and McLaren in Australia next month.

BMW admitted it had to find over 0.5s during the winter to be in a position to achieve its 2008 target of fighting for wins and although clearly not there yet, Heidfeld says things are moving forwards.

"Currently, we are trying different setup options," he said.

"But it's not unusual to focus on the balance before making the next steps.

“As I see it, we are moving within the normal window here at Jerez."

Honda drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello believe the team has improved the driveability of the new RA108 car during the week’s test at Jerez.

Although both drivers continued to find themselves towards the bottom of the timesheets, they agree the Brackley squad has made improvements to the balance and pace of its latest challenger

Button says he now feels more confident driving the car at the limit.

“We have made good progress this week in understanding the car, addressing the issues that we experienced at the last test and getting the car balanced for long runs,” he said.

“There is a great deal of work to do over the two remaining tests before we head to Melbourne, but I am now happier in the car and have more confidence to push it to the limit."

Barrichello agrees that the team has made a step forward in improving both grip and balance issues.

He is now hopeful that updates to be introduced at its next test outing will continue the progress.

"We made some good steps with the driveability this week which have given me more confidence getting on the power,” he said.

“The car balance has improved with progress on the ride and suspension, and I'm feeling comfortable in the car and happier with my driving position.

“We have some hard work ahead of us but I am looking forward to the new updates which will specifically target the areas that we have been working on over the last couple of tests."

(I am not justifying any of this)

Alonso could go anywhere in the UK and im pretty sure he would go unharmed.
