Should VW Sell the Polo in the US?

  • Absolutely not. Why have another car?

I think some of the Jettas and Rabbits are made there. I recall mine being from Germany though.

Oh...Turbo not treatin' you well, huh?

It was in the shop no less than three (3) times in the month I was home for break, although one time was from a flat. And one of those times lasted a whole week.

VW's in europe are known to be reliable. Are the VW's that are sold in america built in mexico or something?

Only two of our VWs are built in Mexico. The VW Jetta and New Beetle are both screwed together south of the border, however, I believe that the "special" GLI version of the Jetta is built in Germany alongside the GTI (I may be mistaken).

Quality is spotty, to say the least. My Jetta was built in Mexico, and it seems to have held up well, but that being said, between 1996 and 2003(ish) there was a HUGE dip in quality on these cars.

They're talking about opening another VW plant in the US again, and hopefully that means that the quality of their product goes up, matching the German, Czech and Belgian plants they have today.

I'm wondering where VW would produce a Polo. Would we get it from the German factory, Mexico or the upcoming US (?) plant?

Depends I guess. I'd love to see it built in the US (and it may because of exchange rates), but I'd suspect its build to be set in Europe again...

Correct. The new Polo is set to be build in Setubal, Portugal.
