Can anyone tell me how good the game is? I've heard good reviews about it but I'd like your opinions too if you can.

I'm thinking of getting this as my first PSP game.

As you can tell by the screenshots, the graphics are pretty amazing for something that rests in the palms of your hand. The Nintendo DS can't come close to rendering images like this. If you liked the original Wipeout and Wipeout XL on the PSX, you will enjoy this version on PSP.

This was my first PSP game and I'm not regretting it.

It is a fun game and a challenging one in the latter difficulties. Well worth getting as a first game. My first game was Lumines then WP a few days later. The free addons are also nice. Game ships with 16 tracks which is a good amount and then adds more tracks and ships.

And it "simulates" High Dynamic Range lighting for that extra graphic effect.

It seems Wipeout pure uses PSP's graphics more then any other PSP game at the moment.

Well i'm still debating buying a psp but i have already bought the games official soundtrack http://www.distinctiverecords.com/wipeout/, that's always been one Major plus point for the wipeout series, great tunes and beyond stylish presentation.

Wow, this game just get's better and better. I have downloaded the Gamma and Delta packs that give you 8 extra tracks altogether, as well as 4 vehicles! 👍

I have 186 Gold medals so far (no cheating with a downloaded save game ).

Like Burnout which I was able to experience last night I am amazed at the graphics on this little portable player but I'm still not sold on getting one.

If framerate bothers you in games don't bother to look at Burnout Legends. IMO I found it slows down in crashes too much for my liking. But, I suppose I'm too used to the PS2/Xbox versions...

I have no idea when the second batch of PSP's will be here. Damn shortage.

I had a feeling the framerate would suffer - it doesn't bother me too much but it depends how bad it is! Yeah i can see how it would be a pain slowing down at all the crashes!

Its been so long since the first batch too! i thought there would have been more by now! i knew i should have pre-ordered it!!!

Yeah i read the stories about it switching off and crashing, hope the new batch has updated firmware or whatever it was causing it fixed!

I still need to get Broadband at home anyway, and get a wireless connection for my laptop to use my psp!

It had the worst freeze the other day, I was doing nothing but looking in the PSP's browser and it just froze.

So do the uk psp's come with a browser or did you have to install one?

They came with a UMD in the box. It says you have to install this before you do anything else.

Thats good, i had just heard that the Japanese and US ones didnt come with an internet browser, so i was just wondering!

Yeah, the browser with Wipeout you can download the latest downloads. There is no way to go to that site from your PC (I think), so you can only get the latest downloads from your PSP. The Gamma Pack can be downloaded from www.yourpsp.com now, but the Delta isn't up yet.
