How does one switch the window wipers on and off? Sometimes they're going and sometimes not, but i have yet never knowingly activated them..
I never race with the view from inside the cockpit..

And do they have any impact on the racing?

If there's already another thread going about this, then I'm sorry, but i haven't been able to find it then..

You can map the wipers to whatever button you want... I think it's R3 by default which means if you use the right stick for gas/brake it's easy to accidentally activate them. You can check the controller button mapping in the options menu.

The only real value of having the button mapped is if you want to see them move when it isn't raining, as they start and stop automatically when rain starts and stops. I've even seen mine move for 2-3 passes and then shut off without ever even seeing a raindrop. If I was on DS3-only I would remove that button and use the spot for something more valuable like the RA menu.

I don't think they affect anything vehicle performance-wise, though extra stuff for the PS3 to track may have a tiny impact on framerate or something of that sort. They're probably pretty low-priority for the system anyway since they tend to not animate smoothly and almost always split into pieces as they move across the screen even when the world outside the windshield is staying smooth. They usually even "tear" like that when you aren't even moving.

you may as well just disable them, You'll never need to manually turn them on anyway. Seems like a pretty pointless function to be honest!

Can't see much point in those wipers either.. just as with the whole helmet/horns/suits and so on.. anyway, I'm using a wheel, so it's definately not the analog stick.. gotta keep fiddling around with the other buttons then..

Thanks ! :)

If you don't want to accidentally hit it any more, go to Options - Steering Controllers, select your wheel and reasign the key wiper toggle is set to to something else. It will be set to R2 by default on the DFGT wheel
