I'm sitting here at my desk in the computer lab watching to make sure none of the students blow anything up, and I'm noticing that some people scroll with their pointer, some scroll with their middle finger... with which finger do you scroll?

I find it awkward to scroll with my middle finger... pointer all the way

None of the above. I use my index finger to move the wheel.

Most of the time anyway. I have been known to use the cursor keys or the space bar.

Middle finger for the wheel, index finger for left click and middle finger or ring finger for right click, depending on the situation.

Middle finger. Index finger for left click and middle finger for right click!

So, I guess I have a well trained middle finger.

I switch between my index finger and my middle finger. I do also use my thumb(scroller on the side of my mouse) But most mice don't have them. I use the arow keys on occasion also.

I only use a laptop, so I use my left index finger on the pointer pad and left thumb on the two click buttons (which I use more often than just tapping the pad for some reason). The scroller is the rightmost edge of the pad, so I use my left index to scroll that as well.

I'm not sure since the mouse I use here at work doesn't have a scroll, but I think it's the middle one.

Pointer. Middle finger feels incredibly unnatural for scrolling.

Besides, it's usually too busy flippin' off co-workers.

I didn't know that you could use the space bar.

I use my middle finger. Though why it's called the middle finger, surely with only 4 fingers you can't have a middle finger?

I use my index finger. I would use my middle finger, but I don't like developing repetitive strain injury.

Middle finger most of the time I am at a desktop. More often though I find myself on here with by iPod touch, resulting in scrolling with index finger, middle, or my thumb.

If you use anything other than your index finger your all wierdos.. either that or stop buying odd shaped mice! :sly:

I only very rarely use my middle finger when im holding a biscuit or something and trying to surf... other hand is occupied..

Depends, most of the time, pointer. Sometimes middle, sometimes I use the arrow keys, and sometimes I use my left hand. I'm just that good :sly:

If I use my right hand, I use my index for left click and scrolling, middle for right click.
If I'm using my left hand, I use My Middle finger for left click and scrolling, index for right click.

oops I made a mistake. I scroll with my pointer finger but accidentaly picked ring :dunce:

I don't see how someone could scroll with anything else, but then again, scrolling with your middle finger would make the best use out of it.

Kind of a weird question. I mostly use the index finger on my right hand since I'm right-handed. It's what I normally use when scrolling with the mouse wheel.

Telepathy...

Actually, it depends. I use my middle finger for easier scrolling, index for speed, ring for short bursts, the pinky for exercising strength, and the thumb for manoeuvres.

Middle finger is conveniently located exactly over the scroll wheel. Why would anyone NOT use it? Plus it keeps the index finger free for clicking.

I use my pointer over my middle finger because, basically my pointer is always resting on the scroll button, not sure why it just is:D
