Pretty sure I answered this one before...

I use the arrow keys, because I have a laptop.

Oh, that doesn't count. It really depends on which hand I'm using. With my left hand I'll scroll with my middle finger, with my right hand, I'll scroll usually with my index, but I'll switch to my middle finger occasionally.

And for those with minds in gutters, I do homework to the right of my computer, so the mouse is on my left.

On the mouse, middle finger.

On the trackpad, pointer, middle or ring; usually the last. It depends entirely on where my hand is when I put it by the trackpad.

Index finger. I think it's from how you grip a mouse as it affects the position of your hand.

Depend on the mouse, depends which hand.

I was used to grab and drag with a one-click mouse, being immersed in Apple, and the the scroll ball was more palmed by me than fingered.
Those habits stayed with me, and whenever I happen to use a scroll wheel (depending on where it's placed on a mouse) I sometimes use my palm all the way from its heel to the Girdle of Venus and thereafter in the same long fluid motion up either Middle-, or Ring-finger and to the particular finger's tip for a long continuous scroll.
I find I use my index on the wheel for very short scrolls, but sometimes I may 'walk' my fingers on the scroll wheel - using index and mid.

The scroll wheel, I feel, will fast become redundant. And about as scarce as mice in Hamelin.

Touch, tap, stretch, squeeze, rub . . . voice command . . . and not much pushing and pulling. That's the way we seem to be going.

On my net book I use my index finger on the track pad, at work on the PC I use my middle on the wheel, I vary rarely click into scroll mode and do it that way. Every so often I might even use the scroll bar on the right of the browser.

I usually use the arrow keys actually, probably because I've used a lot of laptops with bad trackpads.

I use the pinky on my other hand because that's how I scroll.

They see me scrolling, they hating.

All that for a crap joke...

I didn't know that you could use the space bar.

I use my middle finger. Though why it's called the middle finger, surely with only 4 fingers you can't have a middle finger?

3 fingers, i say say your thumb and pinky, the rest are fingers. 6 fingers, 2 thumbs and 2 pinkys

I used my index finger for a while when I was using my left hand (suffering from tendinitis (right ellbow)).

It's quite unhygienic to touch technology so I have a troop of trained marmosets to do it for me. Last year I was lucky enough to get hold of one of those Korean pre-emptive ones. I pay them the minimum wage and they get every other Christmas off.

Either that or I use my tongue, like I am now.

The finger that points to people and makes your mother say "don't point at people!".

Think that's the index finger, perhaps.

EDIT: Anyone knows what has been of user Barracuda? It's been a while since he has last posted on GTP.

I'm normally lying down with my iPhone sat on my stomach, supporting it with my middle and 'pointer' finger. As a result, I scroll with my thumb. :sly:

Well you do use that finger to pull the "trigger" on a gun in meatspace and in cyberspace.

Thus trigger finger.

Yep lol. I have 6 fingers though. Joking. That would be cool to have 6 fingers though.

I scroll the mouse wheel with my index finger and scroll my cellphone screen with my thumb.

On a mouse I use index to scroll more precisely and I use my middle to scroll quickly. On a touchpad I use index and middle to activate the scroll gesture.

Middle and ring finger, at the same time in an upwards motion to go down and downwards to go up and then click with my pointing finger all on my right hand. Multi-touch trackpad rules.
